January is almost over and I’ve come to realize that I haven’t told you about one of our Christmas presents. Last year we received lots of pretty stuff, but this one in particular is very well worth sharing and you’ll see why soon. On the other hand, I’ve also realized that eventhough Casa Haus is a couple years old, I haven’t shared spaces from my own home –not much more than our kitchen (don’t ask me why, lol). So I thought I’d make up for both things today.

¡Bienvenidos a nuestro dormitorio!

Siempre quise que nuestra habitación fuera un espacio muy acogedor y especial, de ahí el color que elegí para el muro principal (es una especie de café rosado con un poco de morado). Nosotros diseñamos los muebles, tanto cabecera y base de la cama, como los buróes y los mandamos a hacer. La base de la cama cuenta con unos cajones inmensos y me gusta porque es moderna. Los buróes los quise más livianos visualmente, por lo que no están llenos de cajones (como normalmente son acá). Y también son de líneas simples y modernas.

I always knew I wanted our bedroom to be a very cozy and special place, hence the color on the wall. I don’t know the name, I just picked it at the paint store. It’s kinda brown-pink-purple. We designed the bedroom furniture and had it made. The bed base has huge drawers, and I love that it is very sleek and modern. The side tables have only one drawer each, to make them look visually light.

Te daré una pista: tiene tantos colores y formas lindas que me resulta MUY inspiradora.

I’ll give you a hint: It’s got so many cute shapes and colors it has turned out to be REALLY VERY inspiring to me.

Así es: es la funda de duvet, de Zara Home. Y me encantó. De hecho, pasó algo muy chistoso porque a partir de que la vi, mi mente empezó a girar rapidísimo, pensando en los colores y las formas y todas las posibilidades que pueden venir a partir de ahí.

You got it: It’s our duvet cover from Zara Home. I LOVE it. Actually, the minute I saw it, my mind begun turning, thinking about the shapes and colors and all the possibilites that come from it.

Así que, puse manos a la obra. Lo primero que hice (porque viene mucho más, estoy segura) fue comprar los cojines morados. Me atravesé con ellos en The Home Store y me encantaron, primero porque el tono le da justo al duvet y tiene ese relieve que le va perfecto al estampado de paisley, pero además porque costaron sólo $99 pesos cada uno con todo y relleno (algo así como 7.60 dolares). Las almohaditas pequeñas ya las tenía yo, ésas tienen unas fundas que compré hace tiempo en una rebaja de Zara Home y no sé si se alcanza a percibir en la foto, pero la tela es un poco plateada… muy linda. La funda de la almohada grande es la que tenía con mi duvet anterior y aunque no era mi idea dejarlas porque son cafés, creo que por lo pronto me gustan.

So I got working. The first thing I did (because I sense there’s more to come) is buy the purple pillows. I bumped into them at The Home Store and I fell in love, first, because the tone matches the one from the duvet plus it’s got that paisley print that goes excellent with the one from the cover, and second, because they were only $7.60 dollars each! The little pillows I already had, they have covers from Zara Home (I had bought them in sale) and I don’t know if you can tell, but they’ve got a silver tone y just adore. I was planning on changing the large pillow covers because they’re brown, but then again, I think I like the way they look. =)

It’s Friday and the day is chilly outside. Nothing like a cozy and chic place to get me warm, so why don’t you let me share with you the gorgeous home of Nicole Gibbons, from So Haute blog. Get ready to be inspired!

Me gusta mucho el uso del color gris en prácticamente todas las habitaciones, logrando una sensación acogedora y chic, además de que hace un lindo contraste con los muebles blancos (mi favorito: el escritorio Parsons de West Elm), y es un buen marco neutro para los detalles de color.

Mi estancia favorita se debate entre la sala y el comedor. Por cierto, ¿alguien sabe cómo se llaman las flores que están en la mesa? ¡Me encantaron!

I love the use of gray in every room, for a cozy and chic feel. Plus, it looks amazing with the white furniture (my favorite, West Elm’s Parson desk), and it makes a great neutral frame for color details.

My favorite room is somewhere between the living room and the dining room. BTW, does anybody know the name of the flowers on that table? I love them!

Hi y’all! I just discovered a new store (for me, lol) and I’ve got a crush on it. It’s Graham and Green, and eventhough it is far from here (Great Britain), I know some of you are over there, or near there, or about to go there, or maybe, just as far as I am, but as eager to look at gorgeous things. Their website is amazing, and you can even download their catalogue.

So, of course I had to share the news. Here are some of my favorite things.

Por cierto, hoy andamos de cumpleaños en casa (sí, el mío y el de nuestra hija!) así que me siento particularmente contenta y con energías. Gracias a todos los que me han dejado sus deseos, ¿saben que son mi mejor regalo?

Una última  cosa: No quiero cantar victoria, pero parece que vencimos a la maldición de los comentarios. Mucho les agradeceré pasen al blog a dejar un comentario y me digan si llegan a tener cualquier tipo de problemas (ya no debe haber ninguno). Cada vez es más común ver sofás en “L” o seccionales en las casas, sobretodo en aquellas con un estilo de decoración moderno y relajado. En lo particular, me parecen ideales para el cuarto de la TV… y de hecho estoy en la búsqueda de uno para ello. Me gustan aquéllos cuadrados de líneas muy simples, especialmente los que sólo tienen respaldo en un lado del sofá y no en el lateral… si el descansabrazos es angosto, aún mejor! Espero encontrar uno así aquí en México… algo que sea bueno, bonito y barato… ¿alguien sabe dónde lo puedo encontrar?

Sectionals are so trendy right now, especially in modern homes, with a relaxed atmosphere. I find them perfect for TV or family rooms, and I’m actually looking for one (since our current sofas are incredibly uncomfy). I love the square ones, with very simple lines and only one back line (sofa and chaise lounge)… hopefully I can find one like these in my hometown soon.

La iluminación es clave en la decoración, y sin duda, también es uno de mis elementos favoritos. Una buena lámpara colgante puede transformar un espacio en un lugar increíble. Por eso y para que te inspires, aquí te comparto algunos ejemplos de mis lámparas favoritas que seguro te quitan el aliento. Hay de todos los tipos y estilos, ¿cuál te gusta más?

Lighting is key for good decorating, and it is definitely one of my favorite elements. A good pendant can totally change a space to fabulous. This is why I’m sharing some of my all-time favorites with you, they all take my breath away (especially this last one from the late domino mag). Remember Robert Pattinson? Of course you do, don’t ya?

Hace poco más de un mes me solicitaron una escultura de Robert Pattinson, el famoso vampiro de la saga Crepúsculo. En realidad, la escultura se usó para hacer un molde para velas, y yo estuve encantada de colaborar. ¡Y así quedó la vela!

A little over a month ago, I was asked to make a sculpture of Robert Pattinson’s face, to be used to make a mold for candles. This is how the candle turned out!

Me encanta cómo se ve. Es un poco diferente a la escultura en plastilina (si no la recuerdas, puedes verla aquí).

Tiene un rico aroma a vainilla.

I love how it looks, a little different from the actual clay sculpture (if you don’t remember, click here).

An it’s scented: vanilla.

Yo sé que no hubiera comprado una vela en forma de cabeza humana (de hecho fue un pedido especial), pero ¿creerás que me gusta cómo luce en nuestra sala?

I know I wouldn’t have bought a human head shaped candle (it was actually a special request), but would you believe it if I told you I like how it looks in our living room?

Lo mejor de todo es que me contrataron como diseñadora de velas, así que ya empecé a trabajar en algunas ideas y pronto estaré mostrando algunos de mis diseños.

¡Qué emoción! =)

Best of all is they hired me to be a candle designer, and I’m really excited. Promise to show my designs every now and then. =)

After all the technical difficulties we’ve been experiencing with the blog (sorry!), it was amazing to see so many visits in the “See you in…” post from yesterday. El día de hoy tengo un antes y después que me fascinó. Se trata de una cochera de 41m2 que se transformó en un apartamento-suite de un dormitorio. La conversión del lugar es increíble (como siempre pasa con los buenos “antes y después”), pero también se reconoce el nuevo lugar como una excelente propuesta para los espacios pequeños. Bien dice el dicho que “todo cabe en un jarrito sabiéndolo acomodar”. =)

Today comes the third delivery of the “Quedamos en…” (See you in…) series, and today is the turn of the living room, probably the most public space a house has.

Y ésta es la sala que elegí.

And this is the living room I chose.

En realidad la encontré el otro día en que conocí el trabajo de Muse Interiors, y me enamoré tanto de ella que quise guardarla para la quedada.

I actually found it the other day as I was looking at Muse Interiors‘ portfolio and fell in love with it so much I decided to keep it for today.

Me gusta, porque es un espacio muy bien equilibrado, lleno de color, luz y textura, además de muchos detalles muy lindos que le dan al ambiente una sensación completa.

I love it because it is a very well balanced space, filled with color, light, and texture, as well as many little details that give the room a sense of completeness.

Y por supuesto, adoro la mezcla bien lograda de muebles diferentes: los sillones son diferentes y las mesas también, y sin embargo todo se ve tan integrado, ¿no crees?

And then of course, I love the mix of furniture. Do you realize the sofas are different as well as the tables, and yet it all looks so integrated?

¡Un espacio sin duda hermoso y en definitiva muy inspirador para mí!

Spaces filled with light, subtle hues, interesting contrasts, and the care and attention at details (talk about great styling). I’m trying to find a single favorite room, but I can’t, can you?
