I was doing some reading over at “The Niche Store Builder”. There is a great post on “9 Tools or WordPress Plugins Every Affiliate Needs!”

There are some really cool tools but my favorite one is the Hide My Ass website. This site hides you from Google. I for one have forgotten in the past that Google sees all and knows all.  If you do any type of Search Engine Optimization, you should check this site for your rankings.

There is nothing worse than telling a client that their website is ranking in the Top 10 for their keyword, but Google has only personalized the results to you.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. This program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since these affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, implement and pays a commission on a regular basis, more an more people are now willing in this business.

However, like all businesses, there are lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. Committing some of the most common mistakes will cost the marketers a large portion taken from the profit they are making everyday. That is why it is better to avoid them than be regretful in the end.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

Many people want to earn from affiliate marketing as fast as possible. In their rush to be part of one, they tend to choose a bandwagon product. This is the kind of products that the program thinks is “hot”. They choose the product that is in demand without actually considering if the product appeals to them. This is not a very wise move obviously.

Pick a product that appeals to you. Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

Since affiliate programs are very easy to join, you might be tempted to join multiples of affiliate programs to try and maximize the earnings you will be getting. Besides you may think that there is nothing wrong and nothing to lose by being part of many affiliate programs.

True, that is a great way to have multiple sources of income. However, joining multiple programs and attempting to promote them all at the same time will prevent you from concentrating on each one of them.

The result? The maximum potential of your affiliate program is not realized and the income generated will not exactly be as huge as you were thinking initially it would. As soon as you see that it is already making a reasonable profit, then maybe you can now join another affiliate program.

Mistake number 3: Not buying the product or using the service.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain product and service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. You will also fail to create a desire in your customers to avail any of what you are offering.

Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. If you have done so, then you are one of the credible and living testaments aware of its advantages and disadvantages. 1. Know the best program and products to promote.

Obviously, you would want to promote a program that will enable you to achieve the greatest profits in the shortest possible time.

Today I spent some time researching SEO for new tactics to get my websites up in Google. While I did find some things that I should be doing, one of my sites did not match up with anything you would think SEO is or should be. So today I am going discuss a couple of things about this site.

• On the first page of Google (Rank 8 on page According to my Stats)

• Monthly visits 100
• Pages Indexed 6
• Inbound Links 0
• Outbound Links 1 (YouTube Video)

If you look at the results all the other websites have a PR of 2+.By looking at that most SEO Experts would not be happy that tis site is on the first page of Google and has been there since the day it was created. But it is and I am going to share why I believe that it is.

Domain Name

Having a domain name that matches your main subject matters a lot.  The closer you can get you domain name to match your main keyword the more love you get from Google.

Bounce Rate

I use Google Analytics to do my tracking. With it, it shows you your websites “Bounce Rate”. This is how many people go to your site and bounce back to where they came from. Every website have a bounce rate, the object is to keep it low. At the time of writing this post the website is sitting at a 21% bounce rate. I shoot for a bounce rate of 15-20%. So yes, I am not happy at 21% and have already been looking into why it is so high.

Content

Your content need to be on point and pertaining to your subject. You really don’t need a lot of content if it is good. The site mentioned above has a Code to Content Ratio of 3.48%.

With all that being said, I am not #1 in Google. Do I want to be? HELL YEA! In 8th place the site gets me 100 visitors a month. Which equals about 20-25 sells per month. you can do the math for gross profit each month if you looked at the site. If I was in the #1 spot just think of how well I could be doing from just this one site. With that being said theses stats will only be good until Febuary 1st 2010 as I will be working on getting quality links to that site in hope to rasie the PR.

So here are my goals for 2010:

• I am going to change my blogging style to only post cool things that I learn about.
• Build My readership to over 1,000 (right now at 14)
• Monthly website views of 10,000

Other Businesses

• Setup 1 Drop ship Business the is at least 90% automated every quarter.
• Finish a couple of websites for my family!

Family

• Most of you may not know but one of my hobbies is reptiles and my kids and wife enjoy them too.  So one of the things that I want to do more of this year is go out looking for snakes and lizards as a family. AKA Camping
• One goal that I will complete this year is setting up a “Date Night” with the wife. It makes her happy which keeps me happy

Job

• My goal is to be completely removed from the failing job market. They easiest way is to be self-employeed.

As I work on these goals I will keep you updated on the progress.
