Dumpster find.. 90's city bike with Sachs Penta Sport shifters and fauber cranks and 650b wheels.

Some good stuff and a lot of dead weight.

The goal is a robust vinter/camping bike without spending a $ / €

Three some trash parts on the frame..

The wheels a crap but will do for now.

Need to true and repack the front and get a three speed shifto for the rear..

Ignore the blue tape, its a idea that has been bugging me for a while..

Not here for the cool but for the weird..

Its endless..

Latest version of the bike trailer..

Platform to cart some sheets of ply for another project..

Made of pallet wood..

I also found a box of decking screws on one of my walks wich came in handy..

The new tyre needed a bigger fender..

Found a moped one on the local market place app..

Made a cut, welded some nuts to some flat bar.. Back to my good enough shitty welds work ethics again..

Looks kinda neat, I just eye balled the cut and nailed it..

The fender stay looks kinda chunky but it is what it is..

Remember..

..long before the sword where the bone needle..

And the needle is the most powerful piece of metal in your arsenal..

Replaced the zipper in my Mountain Hardwear "Scrambler"

Stole the zipper from a pair of gaiters i never use, given that it will probably snow like hell this winter..

Anyways, sometimes i surprise myself and do reasonably tidy work..

Hobo bucket

..for fires in delicate areas, wich is pretty much the whole damn forest as of lately..

Aggroed some stabby holes for air flow..

Added some leggy things to get it of the ground..

One of those fire logs are good for 4 hours i think..

The bots have gone wild again.. Some days this place has 900+ Visits.. its fucking strange and i hate it..

Hello dimplings

2026-08-20T02:36:43.564-07:00

Aggressive crimping..

It fits but still rubs when cornering at speed.

Might cut the chain stays and fit a "spreader plate".. or just crimp the hell out of them and reinforce the chain stays from the outside..

Boop..

See? The dimples are on both sides, no biggie but if i take it further the rear section gets floppy..

Diy dimple tool.. If I had the time, patience and did care about things like this I would add a bit of pipe on the other side to prevent double dimpling the stays..

..but I dont..

Lids

2026-07-03T07:30:22.402-07:00

The bottom of your empty prope-cans makes great lids..

..for your Trangia kettles..

Just use tin snips, clean then up with a file..

Dont spend to much time on making the wooden knob to fancy, they will get chared anyways.

This is one i made for one of the kids..

And this is how my looks in its chared and tared glory..

Yeah its heavier than a Trangia lid but whatever nerd..

Its a theme..and stuff about %

More pack assery..

Since my daily carry pack (DCP™©) Mountain Hardwear "scrambler" is on its last legs I bought this crappy one to use as a place holder sort of while finding a proper replacement..

I present the Kuma Hiking Lodge 25l (its a promo bag made by a snuff pouch brand, but it was cheap with a "15% off your first buy" coupon, and it was Coyote brown so here we are..)

Just look at it..

Its fucking retarded.. This is what a back pack looks like when the designer had zero clues of what features a backpack needs..

So me being me...

100% less stringy fuckery going on .

Stringy fuckery has a tendency to snag on absolutely everything going through the thick stuff.

Also if you need to strap 40% of your stuff to the outside of your bag you are carrying the wrong bag, get a bigger one..

Also one of those i have no clue features, the slanted bottom.. Yep! Now its impossible to stand it on the ground..

Overall construction lands it in the flimsy Territory..

Meet me down the trail for further updates..

The End

2026-06-04T00:47:23.534-07:00

I have moved/removed the patches on my pack a bunch of times due to some vague felling of one of them not aligning with the others in colour/direction of the graphics etc

See how those skeleton guys face each other and how the arch on the upper ones are mirrored by the arch/rounding of the lover ones?..

I also added a small strip of leather to the "Not All.." patch to cover a logo/brand scribble.. And it also tie it tigheter with the one below..

Very fucking important dickings..

Now they tell a story..

Edits..

2026-06-03T09:04:57.753-07:00

So this is a Edit of a old project..

The handle on my yakut knife was to short so I grafted a extension to it.

Just some random bit of wood and some Gorilla glue..

I decided to paint it, makes it easier to find plus it will look super cool once it gets some "patina" (such a ass word)

Pack works

2026-05-28T09:53:19.042-07:00

Replacing the strap buckle on my Exped Thunder, got a spare from the EU

Customer Support..

Added some mountain man flavor to the straps..

Got a sternum strap to buy im not sure if i dig it.. That pipe fit is sort of dubious and the leather and bone one i made works really well... Its dog proof..

I usually clip dogs leash/carabiner to it..

Thats also how the original one broke, dog bolted after a deer and ripped it clean of..

Bones..

2026-05-18T12:38:01.097-07:00

Bike dickings..

A piece of deer bone..

Bone shifter. Might tidy it up a bit with some sandpaper.. Also i might not..

Packraft repairs.. A customer put a bunch of holes in one of the boats.. No biggie just something to deal with

For poking around..

Food forest planting tool

Permanently temporary is forever

2026-04-04T05:33:00.000-07:00

Redoing one of those permanent field repairs.. OMM rain pants that got torn on whatever that got fixed with black duct tape and a bit of exped repair tape..

A lot of tape residue.. Wich is not all bad.. It will make the fix stick..

Keep all the loose flappy bits in place with some masking tape..

You should have one of these by now..

Handy box of repair tape..

I think i bought a exped mixed patch kit and the rest is those you get when you by a tent/sleeping bag/air mattress

I picked grey for the inside as backing..

Its like its not even there..

..And black for the patch. Much better than the "temporary" fix since its more flexible, the tape was quite stiff..

Cool beans, now my 15 year old rain pants can keep on trudging..

Notes

2026-03-31T02:21:00.000-07:00

If you maintain and take care of the things you make they will last a long time..

Coating the inside of a planter box with rapeseed oil using that plastic brush i found on my walk yesterday..

That said, I should take my own advice..

Food Forest

2026-03-28T11:04:00.000-07:00

Another long term project..

First seeds that will go to the community alotment patch. Pumpkins, squash, beans etc. Some will be grown at home like cucumber and tomatoes..

Then Theres the re-planting stuff..

The big can is a mix of harvested wild carrots, parsnip thyme, etc.

The small glass jar is about 1000+ chard seeds i harvested last summer. Im going to see if i can get them established some where..

Just stuff..

2026-03-26T02:40:00.000-07:00

New A express stove pipe for the stove..

I figure that a 50cm longer pipe would cool down the embers burning holes in my tent.

Three outings and about 10 holes so far..

The Eagle Eyed observer can spot the small

Sil nylon patches.. It a fix but a longer stove pipe is a better one..

Edit: You are instructed to shape/set the stove pipe by firing up the stove. I tried using my MSR pocket rocket just going over the stove pipe with the flame and it worked ok/good enough to pre-set it..

..nerdery..

Lilygo T echo/meshtastic device.

Pretty easy to set up but you can most definitely rabbit hole this tech if you want to

I live a bit outside of the local mesh but could access it and get messages out with no problems, so thats extremely good..

Update: I managed to brick it within 24 hours wich suck..

I also managed to flash it with the latest firmware wich is cool..

I forgot..

2026-01-18T13:21:00.000-08:00

..to post this fix..

Cremated my sleeping bag a bit. My go to is to put tape on stuff like that but then i remembered that i had a tent peg pouch in the same colour..

Best fix ever..

My bag look homelessy but it does the job.

Also 1100 wiews this week.. I dont get it. Why does the bots come here?

..states of the Fox-Box™

Top pic is from todays food run .

Plenty of tracks from where the den is and all the food is gone..

Below is from after a couple of days of heavy snow fall.. Zero tracks to the Fox-Box™ and all the food from previous runs where still there. My guess is that my guy just stay in the den during conditions like these..

Before the snow falls..

2026-01-15T02:01:00.000-08:00

Did the trip and dug it out..

Pretty straight forward process to re attach it. A piece of pipe, a weld and two holes..

And again..

This game of moving bits of scrap pipe and metal that already served a purpose in another way is the best thing..

This is bat country..

2026-01-12T01:47:00.000-08:00

Peak prepper stuff..

..or "Your dads first shitty Baofeng kit"

Mostly for snooping on those Rangers in their trucks this summer. The cell phone reception in the park is a bit patchy, wich i love but i think they might be using stuff like this to communicate..

Also good for boating saftey..

Dead easy to put in the PMR channels etc via the app, I tried but could not fuck it up..

Lets go on a journey..

2026-01-09T04:21:00.000-08:00

..re booting the bike trailer. Again..

The bearings where pretty dead and the races where rusted in place..

Solution.. Weld a bit of metal and bang it out with a rod from the opposite side. Worked great..

(Thank you YT China dude for that tip)

Then order the wrong size bearings..

10mm instead of 12mm axle..

I survive on a steady diet of fucking up..

So instead of using the OG axles I used 10mm

bolts shimmed with to layers of pipe to fit in the pipe on the trailer..

Then Its just a matter of gluing it in place..

Fixed it.. I think I got them reasonably straight..

Now I just need to re fit the hitch but that lies under 2 feet of snow in the marina so we will see when i get around to doing that..

Thank you for you patience..
