Family Night

CAST is holding its annual fundraiser “FAMILY NIGHT” on Friday, October 10th starting at 6:15pm at Sheckler Elementary School. Bring the family and join us for a night full of great food, fun games and a Chinese auction of over 100 desirable prizes from friends and local businesses, such as Pepsi!

Put a ticket in our Special Prize drawing for a chance to win a four tickets to the Baltimore Aquarium with a two night hotel stay! We are even auctioning off signed DVD’s from Shirley Jones, the famous actress who played ”Marion” in the movie The Music Man as well as other memorable roles in classics such as Carousel, Oklahoma and the tv show, The Patridge Family.

It’s the perfect time to come out and be with friends and neighbors and to get to know us a little better.

We’re always looking for volunteers to set-up (Thursday, October 9th 6 - 8:30pm and Friday, October 10th 3pm) or to donate gifts for the auction (gift baskets, baked goods, business donations) Any way you’re willing to help is greatly appreciated!

The Music Man – Important Dates

Our Spring 2009 musical will be “The Music Man” and it will be performed at the Catasauqua High School.

Below are some important dates regarding the production:

Thursday November 6, 2008 “Music Man” information meeting 7:00 to 8:30 in Sheckler’s Large Group Instruction Room
Sunday November 16, 2008 “Music Man” auditions 6:00 to 9:00 in Sheckler’s Music Room
Monday November 17, 2008 “Music Man” auditions 6:00 to 9:00 in Sheckler’s Music Room
Sunday November 23, 2008 Call Back auditions 6:00 to 9:00 in Sheckler’s Music Room
“Music Man” Production Meeting will be held the beginning of January 2009
May 1, 2, 3, 8, & 9, 2009 Music Man performances

We here at CAST would like to take a moment to thank all of our friends and family who have worked so hard over the past years to keep CAST a place for our community to have a place to experience quality theatre. Just like the old saying about raising a child, it takes a village to put on shows of our calibur and far too often ‘thank yous’ and showing appreciation gets lost amongst the chaos of putting on a show.

CAST appreciates all the time and dedication its members put in each year and is very grateful for all the support from its community. We know that without all of our help we would not be here to bring this amazing experience to our community.

So thank you to the hundreds of people that give their energy and time each year to making our shows and organization successful.

As always, we wish you and yours a very happy and safe holiday season!

Catasauqua High School Drama Club Presents “Bye Bye Birdie”

Come out and support high school theatre this weekend with Catasauqua High School’s performances of the musical favorite “Bye Bye Birdie.” Shows are Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 3,4,5) at 8pm with a 2pm matinee on Sunday. All performances are at the high school 2500 W Bullshead Road in Northampton.

At the performances members of CAST will be there to help out and support the young thespians. Tickets and information about our performance of “The Music Man” will also be available. Hope to see you there and congratulations to the cast and crew of “Bye Bye Birdie!”

Don’t forget, CAST’s brand-new cookbook, Food, Glorious Food, has arrived and will be available for purchase at all shows for only $10. The cookbook includes over 400 recipes and hundreds of photos from CAST’s history and past shows. Special thanks to the CAST cookbook committee for putting in hundreds of collective hours of their free time to assemble such an amazing cookbook!

CAST Cookbook

The Catasauqua Area Showcase Theatre has put together a cookbook full of its favorite recipes. People have been coming to our shows for 16 years now and they all know that we can put on a great show, but what they may not know is that we are great cooks as well!

At every Saturday workday people bring in their favorite dishes for our cast members to enjoy while taking a break from their workday tasks. So we got to thinking, wouldn’t it be great if we could share all these great recipes with our friends and families? And so the idea of the cookbook was born. Our cookbook committee has been working hard typing in over 400 recipes and creating a custom made cookbook that captures the spirit of CAST and its community.

Cookbooks will be on sale at each performance. If you would like to reserve your copy please head on over to the Contact Us page and send us an email. Cookbooks will be $10. All proceeds will go to next year’s show.

Peter Pan Spring 2010

Plans are underway for our upcoming production of Peter Pan. Auditions for the musical are Sunday, October 18th and Monday, October 19th from 6 - 9 pm at Sheckler Elementary School’s Gym. Auditions will be held in groups of 4 to 6 individuals in similar age range. Children will be asked to sing “I’ve Gotta Crow” and adults will be asked to sing part of “Captain Hook’s Waltz.” Both groups will be asked to also learn a simple dance segment. Music will be provided to those individuals who were not at the recent meeting. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, October 25th from 6-9 pm at Sheckler’s Music Room; music and dialogue will be provided. A cast list will be sent out by early Novemeber.

Rehearsals will begin around the middle to late January and run Monday and Thursday nights from 6-9 pm and Sunday afternoons from 1-5 pm. There will be a Mandatory Production Meeting on Monday, January 11, 2010. At least one parent or guardian must attend with any student cast member under the age of 18. Rehearsals and the meeting will be held at Sheckler Elementary School.

Show production dates are: April 23, 24, 25, 30 and May 1, 2010. All performances will be held at the Catasauqua Area High School.

Summer is here and although many of you are busy planning vacations and having picnics the board members have been busy planning the Fall events. Make sure you can make these dates, you don’t want to miss them. (All dates have been added to our calendar section on the Members Page.)
