What we suggest you should do NOW:

If you use VZAvenue email – IMMEDIATELY obtain a new Email Address.
There are numerous free options available including Gmail, MSN and Yahoo to name but a few. You will have to notify everyone from whom you presently receive email of the change.
If you presently use VZAvenue’s outgoing mail server, you will need to change it to the mail server provided by your new ISP.

Obtain a new (ISP) Internet Service Provider.

There are several options available including:

TWC-RoadRunnerAs bulk rate customers of Time Warner, we are entitled to discounted rates on their RoadRunner service. For the same $29.95 VZAvenue has been charging, RoadRunner offers a considerably faster service. Should this be your choice, you must make arrangements over the phone calling their local number (212) 358-0900 (not over the Internet) and make sure to identify yourself as a TWC bulk rate customer. Provide them with either your password and/or billing information so they can identify your account. Although you can pick up the equipment and install it yourself, they recommend you accept their free installation offer. It is important to note that there is no contract required to obtain this service. You can cancel at any time.

Verizon DSL Provided by Verizon. Please inquire directly. We understand that it is priced competitively with RoadRunner but their service is not as fast.

There are no doubt numerous other options, such as EarthLink, for you to consider and we’re not promoting any. The choice is yours BUT we urge you to move quickly.

Future Choices
At some time in the future, we will be wired for Verizon’s new FIOS service. When that happens, which likely will be several years from now, they will offer their own menu of Internet services.

We are also researching the possibility of providing high-speed Internet service to all residents, using the existing infrastructure that Castle Village is fortunate to have in place. Every apartment is already wired to their portal for Internet service. As more information becomes available we will keep you informed.

It is extremely important for billing purposes that the donuts be placed around the correct wires for each apartment. A survey of the electric panels shows that most of the breakers are properly labeled, however some are not. In addition, there may be some apartments that share power, a condition that must be rectified. Although it was mentioned that access to all apartments would not be necessary, we feel it prudent to take the opportunity at this time to check all apartment connections to ensure that electricity being consumed, metered and billed is for your apartment and your apartment only; this is particularly true for apartments that did not upgrade from fuses to breakers.
For this reason, we will require access to all apartments.

The contractor will be checking connections and installing donuts on a floor-by-floor basis. Power will be lost to all apartments on each floor for about an hour at a time. During this time, the contractor will be confirming which lines belong to whom and if power is being shared before installing the donuts. Only Castle Village staff will enter your apartment to check connections. The contractor will enter your apartment only if necessary and only when accompanied by Castle Village staff. The table below shows the schedule the contractor will be following (times are approximate). It cannot be changed. If you cannot be home during the time allotted for your floor, let the management office know how access to your apartment will be arranged.

• To avoid possible damage to any sophisticated or delicate electronic equipment such as your cable box, it is recommended that they be turned off or unplugged so as not to be affected by possible surges in electricity.
• If for any health reason you cannot afford to lose power for an hour or so, please contact the management office so that special arrangements can be made.
• Turn off your computer or save anything you have been working on to avoid its loss when power is lost.
• It is preferable that you be home during the shutdown; however, if you cannot and are uncomfortable leaving keys, the contractor might still be able to check the feeds to your apartment if you leave a radio or TV on at a volume just audible from the hallway outside your apartment door.
