Triptiek (AMFIs 2nd year event)

It was really exciting to go to a huge fabric to see Amsterdam Fashion Institute second year student's projects presentation. The whole thing was a collaboration of the all three courses: design, management and branding. They made a brand starting with the concept and finishing with the designs. Since it was "my year" making it, it was even more interesting to see what my friends had made and it was definitely amazing!

Guess who's back in Amsterdam!

It was sad to leave London, I actually cried in the bus seeing myself passing the city by, but at the same time it's nice to be back in Holland and finally continue with my studies! I've already had such a warm welcome in here, it's nice to see everybody again!
I still have a week off, which is actually great to settle in like pimp my room (as you can see the posters on my wall on the pictures) and make sure I have phone working and to move all my stuff from the Hague to Amsterdam.
And of course party with the people before getting all serious!

Week in Egypt
I’ve been to Egypt before but never have I experienced it like I did this time. It was actually really surreal. I felt like I was living a new life in a new world where I did not remember my past or think about the future. Since the hotel was small and we got some amazing friends there (yes friends not just people to hang out with) I started to feel at home really easily.

The first night we met a bedouin guy called Sergi who had his own tent with carpets, pillows and shisha in the hotel. Straight away he took us under his wing, basically he was our genie in the bottle. Everybody knew him, if you wanted anything he made a call and it was there in 5 minutes. We loved to hang out in his tent, listen to Joe and Will Ask and go to the Moon bar. To describe Sergi the best I will share his poem:

No woman no cry,

No hashish no fly,

No Sergi no smile,

No water no flower (we never figured why this line has to be there)

In the same tent we met “the guy who came to the holiday with his girlfriend, dumped her, sent her back to Cardiff and stayed for another week” later he was better known as “the guy whose one nipple is erected all the time”. But most of all he became a good friend of ours. Before we knew we were the triple of forever alones, who kept the hotel up for the whole night, the awkward people who laughed their asses off while having a breakfast because of still being drunk, the ones who had endless amounts of drinks in our balcony, listening to Pink Floyd. Damien was like our adopted brother who we knew as much as we knew his penis stories. People started asking “where’s the third one” when one of us was missing.

Also a very memorable person is a guy who is as perverted as all the other Egyptian men but in the most hilarious way, he loves Barney and he’s the most excited about Damian’s nipple. He was a great company and he could sing karaoke amazingly well!

The holiday was very relaxing but at the same time we got a lot of stories like the one where Laura, Damien and I almost got raped since we followed a shady guy to abandoned houses, how I didn’t recognize Sergi at the club and told him to leave me alone since he had normal clothes on instead of the bedouin burka, how we went to quad biking really fast in the desert, how we made some bedouin bread and did some star gazing with a real astronomer, how we saw an Egyptian tectonic dance, how we saw Justin Bieber at Hard Rock Café and how I was challenging a guy twice my size to have a tequila drinking competition.

It was incredibly sad to leave. The three of us had some last drinks at the balcony. After hugging everybody and sitting in the coach, Damien standing next to the bus and waving, Laura and me actually tried really hard not to cry. Trage much? Actually the even more tragic moment was when we got back to London and this morning I had my last fried chicken in Bow, we walked towards our house singing “it’s time for the Perculator” the thing that we always did when we got back home from a party. And now sitting in the airport to go back to Amsterdam to study. I am sad to leave London but at the same time I feel amazing to think about the exciting half a year I had here and the even more thrilling things that are waiting for me.

That surreal moment when you just said goodbye to two countries and are waiting to go to a third one.

East to West London

The project is my interpretation of how the street style and culture of London changes while you travel from one place to another. I used the model as "canvas" to create my point of view of the style that matches the place (the background).
To take it generally it changes from east to west as from trashy to classy; where both the extremes are equally interesting for me.

The model is standing still to bring out the contrast of the fast moving city at the background. The photos are taken from down to up to show the slight snobbishness of the big city’s people and to bring out the largeness of London. The fact that people at the background stare at the model gives her even more attention and brings her out on the photo.

The pictures also have a personal meaning. The places are not randomly chosen. While I lived in London I used to party close to Aldgate east, work in Camden, shop in Oxford Street and go to the museums in South Kensington. Also most of the clothes the model is wearing are mine, which is kind of representing of me living in London.

I am still dealing with the quality of the videos though.. Anyone who knows how to make and upload them in high quality??? Would appreciate some tips!

Photography project in process

I did the shoot on Sunday. I was hangover since me and Kätlin went to a Saint Martin's house party the night before. (Kätlin had 3 inch creepers on so after drinking some vodka and Special Ks the poor girl was on the floor more than standing, was hilarious though.) I had 3 huge bags full of clothes on me, I was looking like a hobo or a dirty art person (not sure). I think the second version since I had a camera in my hand. We were changing Jonna's clothes in a store's fitting room. But in the end I kind of got what I wanted.

Since it's going to be something in between a moving picture and a fashion film I now need to edit them together. But firstly I should learn how I can even do that. So it's going to be a long night..

Nicolas Jaar - Marks

In the last post I mentioned a shirt and a ring by Ivory Jar that I got. I absolutely love their clothes and to be honest I'm glad that they are not that big yet so they have to sell their clothes on Brick lane for pretty cheap prices. I'm so going back to get some more stuff this week with Ella!
But these are only my selfish reasons, I'm pretty sure they will be discovered soon!

On sunday me, Jake and Kätlin went to Brick lane's market where I got some Ivory Jar pieces (a shirt and a ring). They're cheap, unique and the designs are amazing! I'm very happy about the findings.

At the end of the day we sat in 1001 (also on Brick lane). No matter what Ella thinks of the place, I still think it's a lovely bar since the music is good (played live by djs), the environment is cosy and you could take a cup and pour your own alcohol in it (as I am cheap and cheerful).

And then I sent Jake back to Amsterdam..

After he was gone I went (forever) alone to the Science museum to see some space stuff and fill in some quizzes about myself. It was quite fun but I must say that I disappointed in the museum, it wasn't thrilling enough.

Now since I don't have any guests to entertain anymore I've become lazy as fuck. I've just chilled at home, watched Ab Fab, read magazines and shopped in ebay. Actually I've also shown my room to 5 people and it's possible that one girl is signing the contract today. (yay!)

I am enjoying my last weeks in London though, tonight I'm going to meet up with some friends from American Apparel and then we're going to Plastic People! Plus I still want to see some museums and interesting places. Also since I've been doing a photography course, I have a London themed project to make. As I said I'm lazy right now so I haven't started yet but I know that once I start I can't stop! Anyways if it's done I'll post it here as well.

Meanwhile I can't get my thoughts off from Egypt where I'm going to soon, with Ella. I am already imagining myself next to the pool drinking cocktails non-stop. Yep that's the purpose of my life right now: lying and getting drunk.
I also have a little fantasy of going to San Francisco in couple of months to visit my best friend! It would be amazing to hang out with her in freaking California! We'll see how it works out but meanwhile I listen to this and dance around my room:

Y U NO RENT MY ROOM?!

There's a double bed room for rent in Bow, London (2 min walk to Bromley-by-bow tube station, 2 zone) from 22nd of January.
The price is 455 pounds (have to pay the first months rent and one month rent deposit). There are no other costs but top-uping the gas and electricity (which is about 10 pounds per month in the summer and 20 in the winter)

The room has a double bed, 2 closets, a table, big chair and 2 windows.
The kitchen, bathroom and loo are shared.
There is also wifi and a washing machine.

There are two boys and two girls in the flat, all of whom are in their early twenties. Everybody is friendly and occasionally hang out together, but there's plenty of privacy and you'll always get to sleep.

The boys are into blues, one of them plays the guitar. They both love pot. A few days ago a French girl moved in - she's doing an internship at some PR company and whilst we don't know much about her, she seems really nice. Ella just drinks a lot. When she has free time, she sometimes goes to uni to become unemployed in the future.

Yesterday night we went to FWD at Plastic People and it was absolutely amazing! The place is definitely more than a club. The dance floor is completely dark (so you might as well come to the club with sweatpants nobody would notice) which makes you concentrate to the music more than staring at the others. And the music itself is too good to be true!

Exploring London with Jake and Yalda

Since Jake and Yalda from Amsterdam are visiting me we look around London a lot. During these couple of days we've seen so much: good magazine stores, attractions, interesting concept and designers stores, galleries and markets. It has been a lot of fun and that's not it, we are continuing today :)

NYE 2012!!

I love new years eves because it makes you think and appreciate the last year (which for me was absolutely amazing) and it is also kind of relieving to close the old and open the new, even better. I also made some resolutions where some of them are that I will start doing some sports and that I will come back to London in september!
I celebrated it with Laura, Jake and Yalda in London and it was epic! (such a shame I couldn't have ALL my closest friends together but I do realise it is impossible so I was very happy to have some of them around). We greeted the new year at home with some champagne and fireworks and then went to the Leisure party in the old Burberry factory where they had 4 rooms and a garden with a bonfire. Was a perfect beginning for the exciting year that is ahead of me.

Club 2011 Lõpupidu

Yesterday I arrived to Estonia! The first thing I saw were tiny snowflakes falling down the sky. Even though we barely have some snow here it made me happy!
Since the whole journey from London to Estonia was madness I had a little power nap at home and then went to the Club 2011 party to meet up with all the dearest friends.

Since my camera's battery was low and I couldn't take that many photos, I stole some pictures from WilmaCircus as well.

This eventful weekend..

*Laura's Birthday!
We had two nights out for her. The first one was "only for one drink" though but the "one drink" was Special K so it was already kind of a bad beginning. And yes in the end we were dancing in a club where me, a muffin in my hand, and a random guy sang happy birthday to Laura at midnight. Later we of course had some fried chicken where a random guy came and did some rad rapping.
The next day, after me leaning against the fitting rooms wall and dying at work, we went out to Alibi and Nest where we met some people who took us to a house party.
Both of the nights: bunch of fun!

*American Apparel Xmas Party
On Sunday we had a christmas party for current workers only. We had some free drinks, karaoke, photo booth and lots of good company! It was especially lovely for me because I knew I was leaving the company soon so it was kind of like the last party with them.
After some drinks and hours I ended up in Fabric with a lot of people I didn't even know (since I lost the only friends there). It was still a lot of fun but damn the place is a labyrinth! First time when I thought "OK time to go home now!" I ended up in a smoking area, in some kind of balcony maybe? Anyways I stayed to talk to people there and forgot I was leaving. The second try to go home I couldn't find the way out, I was just circling around until the security guy showed me the way :D Later I heard that it wasn't me, the place actually is impossible..

Yesterday it was my last day in American Apparel! In one point I'm glad since I really don't feel like doing a sales associate's work anymore. But at the same time it was quite sad since I really started to like all the people I worked with! They were the ones who made the boring everyday fun!

But now I'm finally in Estonia after a hectic night at the bus stop and the airport etc.. Can't wait to see all the people here :))

Psychoanalysis about me

Laura is doing a project for school about the way people present themselves online. So she decided to be a bit Freud to her friends. I was one of them who she wrote about. Since apparently I'm not very personal when I write in my blog I decided to post that. It was actually quite funny for me to read it. Deep shit!! Not really though

"I’m Regina. I’m bright and happy and outgoing, and yes, outgoing sometimes is a euphemism to alcoholic, but I’m cool with it. My Facebook profile is a little like a dive bar at three in the morning, it’s just a mess. Kind of like a hot mess, though. I’m all over the place - I don’t really update my status that often, but I love sharing music and it’s almost obligatory to pimp my blog via Facebook.

I’m a fashion student so I’m obviously very visual, or am I fashion student because I’m very visual? Whatever. It could be both ways, I don’t necessarily always make sense. I love fashion, a lot. My wall, or timeline as it’s now known, is a bit of a tribute to my love for fashion. Obviously my blog itself is a lot about fashion, but I also love sharing cool fashion stuff on Facebook. Not photos of what Anna Wintour wore at some show during LFF, but cool fashion films, or links to weird little shops I’ve discovered while wandering around in some random part of the town.

I think in a way I have way too much information about everything on Facebook. Like, I’ve literally listed all the places I’ve lived in and it has all the information about my education, work etc. Course in a way it’s just an illusion of over sharing. I may have posted quite a few albums and bits and pieces of what I’ve done, but I’m still very private about myself. Even when I blog, I hardly ever go into detail about what goes on with me personally – I prefer sticking to cool photos and short snippets of what I’ve been up to.

I love Internet memes. I suppose I spend a lot of time browsing through 9gag *before it became popular, FYI!* and Tumblr to get my laughs, and I crack jokes about probably being Forever Alone and all that jazz, but “it’s funny because it’s true.” See what I did there? And here as well, actually? Internet jokes. Yeah. It’s something I like to hide behind. Of course deep down inside I know it’s a bit too much to worry about stuff like that, but I sometimes forget. When I do, Memebase comforts me.

I’m not a sad or depressed person, though. I’m happy. I have a rather rad life, and I think my Facebook accurately portrays that. Sometimes I just get lonely and a bit sad, but that’s okay. It’s definitely okay not to post it all over the Internet."

Liina and Riina came to visit!!

This weekend I had Liina and her friend Riina vising me. They brought me a lot of goodies from Estonia starting from black bread finishing with a huge bottle of Jägermeister. Aaand those amazing leggings made by Liina:

There were many people complimenting me for those. One guy at the club even took his lighter out to lighten up my leggings to see them properly. You can all order them: steinly.com
Also got the amazing long sleeved leotard with an open back and her new black and white print. Very very happy about them! Thanks again! :)

The two crazy Larissas shopped non-stop for 3 days! They came with an empty luggage and left with a full one. One got Chanel shoes, another one a Versace dress, living the good life!

Luckily I had some free days so I could hang out with them. I also shopped for a day but after visiting Primark I couldn't go back the madhouse next days. We had an amazing party night though!
