My current favorite is the strategy/arena The King’s League: Odyssey. I first saw this game through a video review at playbuzz.org. It looked like an awesome flash game to play and so I did.

An attempted murder on the King has led to the death of Whitney, the Royal Knight. In search of a worthy person to take up the role as a Kurestal Knight, a new league is announced. Fight your way from the humble Hamlet Tourney till the King’s League for a seat at the Kurestal Round Table.

I finished the game after about an hour of playing. The early rounds can be a little hard, especially if you’re still trying to get the hang of how the game works. But once you progress to higher levels, you’ll start to understand how the game operates.

You play as the lone survivor. Alone in a world decimated by creatures, you struggle to find for any survivors. The game’s graphics are great because I just love pixel based games. Controls are easy because it is a side scrolling game.

The combat however is simple. Once you acquire a firearm, you can shoot with the X key. Sadly, the game provides you with one quite. So you must resort in hiding in dark spots and using the flash light int he right time. This isn’t a pure action horror game, instead its a pure horror adventure game.

It has a bit of RPG in it, since you can interact with NPC and objects and use them in different situations. Speaking of using objects you can also use rotten meat to distract monsters. Yes, they have a keen sense of putrid smell.

So check this game out. Its fun and scary!

What is the game about?

It’s Temple Run + Ninjas. You play as a ninja, slashing your way across hundreds of zombies. Well, you can’t really slash every single one of them. You need to avoid, jump over or slide under the big ones. Oh, you also have to keep your character from bumping into walls. (Good as you are with the sword, your sword has no power over walls.)

What makes Ninja Slash stand out?

Casual gamers who are used to playing free online games, usually Flash, will find the use of 3D in Ninja Slash a breath of fresh air.

The game was created using Unity3D, a game authoring tool, that has been making noise over the last three years. (I even featured 3 cool Unity games a couple of months ago.)

Most of the Unity3D games I played recently lean more towards hardcore gaming (Contract Wars and Akaneiro). Both are wonderful hardcore games that one can play on your desktop.

Ninja Slash, on the other hand, is for casual gamers. It’s easy to play and you don’t really get too invested on it. Still, it tries to hook some hardcore gamers by providing ample upgrades.

 Should you play it?

Hey guys! Its been a great week for me cause I stumbled upon this game called Happy Hills. This game is fantastic. It has some elements of Angry Birds and its very own type of gameplay. In Happy Hills, you blast blocks in to the air, collecting stars.

Once you complete everything by collecting each and everyone of them, you can access the END icon and beat the game. Collecting all the stars maximizes your point intake. With the power of the Unity, you can see just how gorgeous this game is. I dare say that even Angry Birds cannot compare Happy Hills in terms of graphics.

Its like a sweet desserts kingdom ready to be explored, or destroyed…HaHa!!! If you were a fan of the Angry Birds game, Happy Hills will hook you with its innovation. Super fun and excellent. You cannot deny that when you play this Happy Hills.

I haven’t played a game for such a long time that makes me control a Happy-Go-Lucky dinosaur that loves to frolic around a city destroying nearby objects with his roar and jumps. Its a kiddy game that would surely capture the hearts of casual gamers.

It has simple controls. With the use of the A and D and Arrow Keys you can roar, jump and move around an unfortunate city. Lets start with the graphics. Its a beauty. Unity 3D doesn’t showcase it full power thou, but its still great to look at. The game looks like one of those awesome Saturday cartoons I used to watch when I was a kid. The sounds are top notch. Clear and hilarious.

As for the gameplay, it is quite simple. Do you remember the classic game called rampage? Its quite simple, just wreck havoc across the city. But in here you don’t get to climb buildings, stomp on cars, or gobble on human beings. You just try to destroy as much as you can with your roar. Its fun and simple. Totally addictive. Check it out.

So far casual games still exist. But sadly majority of them don’t get noticed. Even the wonderful Fez game can be depicted as hardcore. Is it because the term hardcore is a feeling or a type of gamer? I guess it is. It surely isn’t a genre. Anyways, back to the main concern.

I don’t know but, sometimes, I do feel that casual gaming MAY fade away. It may fade. If you look at most (not all,definitely not all) the casual games, they have hardcore elements in it such as character development, intricate storyline, and MMORPG elements in it. It can be very depressing, but I do hope that this will stop. I love playing casual games.

We need more games like Cut-The-Rope. Now that game is pure casual. You should check that out. It is fun and super awesome to play and every gamer of all ages will enjoy it. Casual Games should be for every gamers to enjoy. Not only for the hardcore.

Fez is out! In Xbox360! Wooh! I’m getting my hands on that. For those of you who don’t know what Fez is please search in on the net. Its an incredible game that is particularly aimed for casual and hardcore gamers. The game lets you explore hidden areas to help create the world around you.

I want to give away more but that would be more like a review now would it? Haha. So lets get back to the topic. Exploration. Casual gamers play to either just beat a stage or just to kill time. But Fez gives more than just that to the casual gamer. It enables him to strive for that hidden area.

That feeling of being an explorer can rally drive a gamer to play the game over and over. Just like  MMORPGs. The feeling of exploring vast plains and huge mountains was feeling I enjoyed when I first played MMOs. Exploration game play is now for me, one of the key elements of making a casual game a success.

After playing awesome free Unity 3D games like contract wars or Begone, I know that flash days are totally numbered. No way can it compete to the juggernaut. But you might think that I’m just some stupid gamer that thinks graphics will always own gameplay. No. I am not one of those gamers. I’m far from that.

You see, when you give a game more ways to explore new and different dimensions, gameplay will always evolve with it. No matter what. Lets put ti this way. If you give a developer a 2d dimension game engine to work on. And tell him to make a football game. It will just play like the old NBA arcade games we used to play before. Flat dimensions.

No evolution. No evolution in games means death. Plain and simple. And flash sadly hasn’t evolved for quite some time. Come on. Lets face. Stop living in denial. Unity 3D will kill flash. Do I feel happy? Of course. I’m tired of what flash game developers are giving us. I want something new. And this is it.

If there is anything in this world that is evolving fast its games. I remember the time whenever I play a flash game, all I see are pixels and simple 2D cartoon textures. But these days, I still do, however they don’t get as much credit as they did before.

Now we have Unity 3D. And damn am I impressed. Go play Contract Wars! Come one. Do it. You will be impressed. And if the game play wont impress you, it will be on how flash games has totally evolved. There is just no more room for mediocrity in this age of games. And it should be like that. I’m not saying I hate pixels (I love pixel games), but what I want is an end to mediocre games .

No more mediocrity! Maybe soon or after a few years , we might see a flash game that plays like COD (chuckle). We never know. But I assure you it will happen.

But before I start listing and talking about new games, I would like to talk about 5 of the most memorable flash games I played in 2012. (These are my personal pick.)

1. Sequester
2. Take a Walk
3. Knightmare Tower
4. Bob The Robber
5. Fairytale Annihilation

I don’t want to go on the details of why I love these games. You play them for yourself! Sorry. They’re really entertaining…after all, that’s the ultimate reason to play casual games. Knightmare Tower and Fairytale Annihilation, for example, are shoot-or-slash-your-way-out type of game! On the other hand, Take a Walk is a fun relaxing game. Bob the Robber is that memorable, quirky and funny game that you love to play over and over again. Finally, Sequester is a very emotional.

That was 2012. Here are my expectations for the year 2013!

• More HTML5 games! Yes, we’ve seen a lot of introductory-type HTML5 games these past few months. I hope and pray to encounter/play more this year! That would be awesome. Quality-wise, however, I don’t expect them to be on par with flash just yet. Maybe in late 2014 or 2015.
• More Kizi-type websites. Let’s be honest, Kizi is an awesome site. I’m sure kids love playing at Kizi. New websites are also appearing with the same layout. 5hippos and a10.
• More awesome flash games! Flash is slowly being dumped but I still think that it’s still is the best platform for browse games. And just before it dies (maybe 2015 or 2016), we’ll see a second golden age of flash gaming! Yay. I hope it’s this year.
