A 17-year-old bug in Windows will be patched by Microsoft in its latest security update.

The February update for Windows will close the loophole that dates from the time of the DOS operating system.
First appearing in Windows NT 3.1, the vulnerability has been carried over into almost every version of Windows that has appeared since.
The monthly security update will also tackle a further 25 holes in Windows, five of which are rated as "critical".

HipHop is a PHP-to-C++ cross-compiler. What this means is it takes PHP code and translates it into C++ code for further compiling. It is not another language. It is not a just-in-time compiler (JIT).

HipHop will be open-sourced by Facebook under the same licensing as the respective PHP codebase it sets to mirror. Facebook hopes that the community will improve HipHop and add extensions to HipHop that mirror PHP functionality. Also, it hopes that future PHP core development will code features that would be more amenable to optimizations that HipHop does.

HipHop was the current survivor of a number of projects over the years at Facebook to improve the performance of the site. Facebook, as the second largest trafficked website in the world, is built mostly on PHP. HipHop is currently running side-by-side next to many LAMP PHP servers at Facebook and they are claiming an average of 2x increase in performance on those machines.

HipHop accomplishes this by surveying the entire codebase of your PHP-based application with a parser and then building out a C++ project based on it. The C++ project then compiles and runs as its own web server. Because of this, Apache and the PHP Zend engine are completely bypassed.

اول حاجة احب اقولها هي اني بعترف اني قصرت في حق التيم .. بس ده كان لأسباب كتيرة مش هذكر منها حاجة لان ده مش وقتها

تاني حاجة بقى ... نبدأ في المهم

احنا دايما نسمع من الناس الكبار ف الكات (زي احمد سليمان و احمد عبدالله مثلا) ان هما بدأوا من مفيش
وان واجبنا اننا نحترم اللي عملوه لينا و نكمل المسيرة اللي هما بدأوها

بس خلينا نحلل الموقف اللي بنسمع فيه الكلام ده تحليل بسيط كدا

أولا .. اللي بيقول الكلام ده -مع احترامي- بيكون هو من جواه مقتنع ان الناس اللي قدامه دول مش هيعملوا حاجة
و بشكل أو بآخر الناس الجديدة بتفهم الحكاية دي و بيبدأوا يقتنعوا هما كمان انهم مش هيقدروا يعملوا حاجة
وشوية بشوية الناس الكبار بيزهقوا و منقدرش نلومهم على كده لانهم حاولوا كتير

بس الزهق ده هو اللي أنتجه بسبب غلطة هو مخدش باله منها

اعذروني ممكن الكلام يكون كبير شوية بس دي وجهة نظري

نيجي للطرف التاني من الموضوع وهو الناس الجديدة

مبدئيا هو صعب جدا تلاقي ناس مستعدة تكمل من نفسها
يعني لما يكون 10 بيشتغلوا في مشروع
و 8 اختفوا لأسباب غامضة ... أكيد الـ 2 ده مش هيشتغلوا بنفس الحماس اللي كان موجود ف الأول
وهنا نرجع لمشكلة الـ 8 اللي اختفوا ... ودول بيبقى عندهم استعداد يشتغلوا عادي بس بيبقوا عايزين دفعة للأمام و محتاجين متابعة أول بأول
ومحتاجين ميتنجز كل شوية عشان نتأكد انهم شغالين

وبالنسبة للميتنجز ...
أنا فاكر أول ميتنج حضرته لمشروع في الكات كان مشروع "هكروت" و اللي اتغير اسمه لـ "فكرة"
و بصراحة كنت محبط جدا بعد الميتنج دا
ليه
لان زي ماحنا عارفين أي مشروع بيحتاج تخطيط كتير في الأول
و أول ميتنج ده كان معظمه تخطيط ... و الناس الجديدة بتبقى مستعده للعملي أكتر من التخطيط

و أعتقد الحل اننا ندي جزء من العملي مع جزء التخطيط ... وده الحقيقة اللي كان احمد سليمان عمله في "صورنا" و أحييه على كده بجد و ان شاء الله هكمل معاه في المشروع ده

دلوقتي بقى في مشكلة بسيطة في اي جروب بنعملها لأي مشروع
وهي ان الناس بتعتبر ان طالما واحد خد تاسك .. يبقى ده بتاعه و مش هيعمل أي حاجة فيه
الحقيقة الموضوع غير كدا ... اللي خد التاسك ده ممكن انت تكون عارف أكتر منه
و ممكن تكون شايفه بيعمل حاجة غلط ... فلما تقوله هوا مش هيكرهك ... ده بالعكس هيفرح انه لقى حد "بيشجعه" على التاسك
وممكن تقوله من الأول انا اعرف عن التاسك ده كذا .. أو دور في الموقع كذا ....كدا يعني

و كمان حاجة ... وهي ان الأعضاء بيبقوا مستقلين بنفسهم و بشغلهم
و معظمهم ميعرفوش عن بعض أي حاجة
و عشان الناس تحب التيم .. المفروض يعرفوا بعض أكتر عشان يبقوا حاضرين ميتنج مثلا عشان هم حابين يجوا
مش عشان هما لازم يحضروا

يعني انا كنت بحب الحركة دي في "أحمد الجميل" ... انه كان بيشجعني و بيحسسني بقيمتي عشان ياخد مني اللي هو عايزه

انا عارف اني طولت و اكيد مش دي بس النقط اللي حبيت اتكلم فيها بس دي أهمهم
و هتلاحظوا معظم كلامي عن المشاريع و اللي بيحصل فيها
بس لاني شايف انها أساس لشغل كتير

انا مبسوط جدا والله بتفاعل الناس ومش عارفين قد ايه مبسوط انى شفت الناس كلها وهنادى واسلام وحسام ومروه واسامه والناس دى كلها بتكتب تانى وبنتفاعل كلنا تانى مع بعض
انا لما بدت الموضوع ده علشان اكون صريح كان عندى هدف واحد ما كانش هدفى ان احنا نرجع السايت تانى والهاكرز تانى وللاسف انا لسه عند رى ده للاسباب الى قلتها لك يا حسام امبارح . لان انا مقتنع ان كل اسباب الفشل الى ادت للحاله الى احنا فيها لسه موجوده بل اسو كمان بعد خروجنا من الكليه وسفر بعضنا كمان . بالاضافه ان كل المشاكل القديمه من نفسيات وشخصيات وهموم وانعدام الامل وعدم وضوح الاهداف واكتئاب الناس وانشغال الناس والشغل الى بيشغل الناس وسرعه فقدان الامل وثقافه النجاح الى نادرا ما بتلاقيها والبيئه الى بتطلع الناس ومستوى الطلبه الى تدهور اكتر وغيره وغيره . كل الاسباب دى انا شايف انها كفيله انها تخلينا نفشل فشل اكبر من المره الى فاتت . وهنا ينضم عيب جديد لسجل عيوبنا وهو عدم التعلم من الاخطاء وعدم وجود نظره مبعديه
للاسف يا جماعه انا حاسس ان احنا زى ما قلت يا حسام مجرد خظوه واتعملت
اما هدفى كان جزء من جلد الذات . ان احنا نعترف بالواقع وان احنا مانلومش الى بيفشل لان الموضوع اصعب من مستوانا واحنا نعتبر من النخبه . وان احنا نعرف ولدنا التجربه ونحكى لهم اسباب الفشل علشان يتجنبوه ونديهم سبل النجاح علشان واضح ان احنا فاتنا حاجات كتير مستحيل نعوضها الوقتى . ممكن نعدل منها اه لاكن نغيرها كلها اعتقد شبه مستحيل علشان كده الامل فى الى جاى

انا عارف ان فيه ناس ممكن تزعل من كلامى ده . بس الصراحه مفيده يا جماعه . ومع الى حصل ده كلها والله فيه ناس كانت اكتر من رائعه وعملت الى عليها . وده مش تناقض فى كلامى . لان مش معنى الفشل ان احنا ما عملناش الى علينا . لاكن بالعكس كلى الى رد وكتير من الى مردش كان اكتر من رائع بس احنا افتقدنا اسباب الناجاح علشان كده فشلنا . النجاح فى بلدنا شكله عايز معجزه مش مجهود بس

I think I have to introduce my self again as I've never been active member here .Yes I used to log in and out but ..... without effective participation at the bast this was because i was totally new to linux and hardly could use it beside Windows . But now ......

I am Usama El-Far from portsaid ,graduated from ITI UNIX department from 4 months ..I own a small ADSL services company in portsaid from about 3 years .and now i will suspend and work for another company till something happen here in portsaid

lets get back to the topic

I think that we can have a look at linuxac.org .....why could they really success .and how did they attract many and many people

from my point of view
1- It is for ALL arab and they always repeat this every where
2- They give a lot of effort to the new Linux users
3- They use all available methods : channel - xrc- youtube - magazine
4- Their website is pretty simple
5- A big effort from the management
6- Using Arabic {This is right and wrong in the same time we can discuss this }
7-Their effective topics dont depend on only 1 or 2 persons {remember Ahmed Soliman said "I WAS A LONE"}
8- They always follow new techs ...always u will find some1 who began to write a topic about that
9- There is a competition between members
10- Toolbar - Distros ..... and so on

I do not want any 1 to misunderstand me .Really They are not the top and we are the button ..........NOOO ....
I joined ITI bc of small Linux fundamentals course by lifemakers in Mansoura and the 1 who gave me the course was one of the CatHackers ....and the course was like a free 1

I love CatHackers and really I will begin with You again but This time I hope to be effective person as I now have the basic knowledge that can help me be that person

وكنوع من الإعتراف بالجميل ورد الفضل لأهله , فالفضل إننا اتعرفنا على بعض واتقابلنا وحلمنا واتحمسنا - بعد ربنا سبحانه وتعالى - لأحمد سليمان , اللي مالقاش مكان يسع مواهبه وقدراته رغم إنه حاول باستماته وكرر المحاولة أكتر من مرة

أكيد الوقت والمحاولات دي ماراحتش كلها هباءا .. أعتقد في شئ إيجابي في اللي حصل ولو حتى كنا مش حاسين بيه دلوقت , ممكن مانكونش إحنا الجيل اللي يعمل التغيير والنهضه المنشودة , لكن الفكرة اتغرست فينا و هنغرسها في أولادنا والجيل اللي جاي بعدنا , أكيد ساعتها هتكون فرصهم أفضل وأفكارهم أكثر نضجا . إحنا خطوة كانت لازم تتعمل

Thanks Ayman for remembering me of my best days ever, I admit that I learned a lot here with the H4ck3rz team, not only at the technical level, but at the personal level too. I learned things I will never forget it.

أكيد الوقت والمحاولات دي ماراحتش كلها هباءا .. أعتقد في شئ إيجابي في اللي حصل ولو حتى كنا مش حاسين بيه دلوقت , ممكن مانكونش إحنا الجيل اللي يعمل التغيير والنهضه المنشودة , لكن الفكرة اتغرست فينا و هنغرسها في أولادنا والجيل اللي جاي بعدنا , أكيد ساعتها هتكون فرصهم أفضل وأفكارهم أكثر نضجا . إحنا خطوة كانت لازم تتعمل

انا متفقة تماماً مع رأيى إسلام هو ده الى اقصده
بيتهىء لى انه الأفضل نعمل زى تصويت اونلاين بعد كده لأى فكرة عايزين نطبقها متكنش الإدارة بس الى بتاخد القرار

من ضمن المشاكل ان احنا لما بنفشل فى تجربة ما بنهدها تماما و نجرب فكرة تانية جديدة
مع انه اصبح من الواضح لينا تماما انه من الصعب علينا تقبل عملية النقل السريع جدا من من حال الى حال اخر مغاير تماما
دا حتى مع تغير الثيم الخاص بالمنتدى الواحد بدأ يحس انه فى مكان تانى خالص و بدأ يتولد شعور بالكسل
ليه ميكنش اضافة فكرة جديدة للمجتمع تكون على التوازى مع المجود فعلا و بنسب صغيرة بحيث اننا منشعرش باحساس الغربة اللى احنا حاسينه الان و كمان هيكون عدنا الخيار فى حالة فشل الفكرة الجديدة اننا نرجع تانى لما كنا عليه من قبل
ليه متكنش الافكار الجديدة هى نتاج تحليل و دراسة المشاكل الموجودة فى النظام الحالى
انا فى اعتقادى ان من احد المشاكل او التحديات اللة بنواجها فكرة المجتمع الاونلاين
احنا بدأنا كمجتمع اوفلاين فانا اظن انه صعب شوية اننا نعتمدعلى المجتمع الاونلاين فقظ
كمان عملية ضخ دماء جديدة احنا مقصرين فى النقطة دى وبدأنا نتناقص بشكل كبير اشبه بالنزيف
دا يمكن راجع لاننا اهملنا جزئية الدعاية
دا مجرد راى شخصى حاولت فيه اكون عرضت بعض النقاط اللى شغلانى

انا متفق معاكى يا هنادى انت المنتدى كان له وقع مختلف . بس اعتقد ان المشاكل كلها كانت ظاهره فى وجود المنتدى برده للاسف يا هنادى انا بقيت مقتنع ان احنا وحشين بما فيهم انا . وفشلنا ان احنا نعمل نجاح محددود فى مجتمع صغير بغض النظر عن الاسباب سواء كانت مشاكل انشغال بالشغل او ثقافه ناس او قله خبره او غيره . يعنى المفروض نعذر الحكومه على فشلها فى اداره اى حاجه فى مصر . النجاح فى مصر واضح انه عايز معجزه

Think you can make a better fast-booting, Chrome-focused OS than Google? Want to craft a custom Linux system that boots from a USB stick? SUSE Studio gives you 15 GB to do exactly that, and you do it all online.

SUSE Studio is what powered the fan-made "Chrome OS" we posted yesterday, which, in that case, was a semi-stripped-down system loaded with the developers' version of Chrome, Google webapp links, and OpenOffice. If speed and cloud computing aren't your bag, you can create a fully functional system with Firefox, 3D graphics, and whatever apps you can find installed. Want your system to start up with an AWN dock and Launchy keystroke launcher running? Not a problem.

Even if you don't know all that much about Linux, it's pretty easy to build a system you can boot from a USB stick or live CD/DVD, run inside a virtual machine program, or actually install it—or, heck, even test it out in your web browser.

Here's a basic walkthrough of building a system with SUSE Studio. In this case, we're looking to build a GNOME-based system that would boot fairly quick and use Chrome for most of its functions, and use GNOME-Do as the primary application launcher.

Get an account, choose your desktop
First things first, you'll need to grab an invitation and account from SUSE Studio. While it's invite-only at the moment, I received my invite only 10 minutes after registering and filling out a quick survey that suggested it would boost my invite reply time. Once your invite arrives, you can sign into SUSE Studio with your Google or Yahoo account, or any OpenID provider. Not sure how to nab an OpenID? Here's a quick video tutorial.

Once you're signed in, head to your "Home" screen and click the "Create new appliance" link in the upper-right. SUSE Studio calls each bootable system you create an "appliance" throughout the process. You'll be asked to choose your "base template," which includes the GNOME and KDE desktops, a Just Enough OS (jeOS) option, and server or command-line-only choices. Most folks will want to lean toward GNOME or KDE setups, as they're the most familiar graphical environments. If you're familiar with Linux enough to know how to build a login manager and desktop from a command line system, though, go ahead and play around—you can't really hurt anything.

Choose your software

This is the real meat and potatoes of creating a system. Click the "Software" tab and check out the packages already going into your system.

Based on your selection of a GNOME desktop, and SUSE Studio assuming you want the Linux basics needed to boot, a few packages and repositories are already installed for you. They're based on a basic installation of OpenSUSE, but you could wipe the slate clean and start over with another RPM-based repository, if you so chose.

If you wanted to add Firefox to your system, simply search for it in the search bar farther down the page. Results from the repositories you've chosen appear, and you can click "Add+" to load them into your system, with dependencies and other needed packages automatically included.

What if you don't see something you know runs on Linux—like, say, Google Chrome? Find an RPM-formatted package, like those I found at Ben Kevan's blog, or add in a repository URL that carries regular updates. Generally, a good Google search for the name of your program and "OpenSUSE" should yield fruit. Hit the "Upload and Manage RPMs" link near the top of the Software page, and you'll be able to upload from your computer, or point to a file on the web. What's really neat is, once you upload your RPM files, you'll have a special repository created for you that can be loaded into any system you build with SUSE Studio.

Change the look and feel

Once you're done tinkering with your apps, head over to the Configuration tab to mess with your eye candy and determine how your system will boot up. Start at the "General" sub-section, making sure to change the user name at bottom to something other than "Tux" and change the password away from the standard "linux." You can set how you want your system to find a network connection (anything other than the manual or no-network options should be fine), and whether to enable a firewall.

The Personalize section only has two parameters, but who doesn't like to see their own logos and backgrounds stamped on a system? Next over, make sure the "Startup" section has you set to boot into a graphical login. Under "Desktop," you can set the OS to automatically boot to a desktop for faster start-up times, and the "Configuration" field lets those planning to install to a disk or USB drive, or run in a virtual machine, fine-tune their memory and disk use settings. "Overlay files" and "Scripts" can mostly be skipped, unless you've got documents you need to have in your test system or already work at a high level of Linux knowledge.

Grab and boot your OS

The "Build" section is where you get the good stuff. Pick the format you'd like to download, whether an ISO for creating a CD/DVD, a disk image for hard disk or USB transfer, or a ready-made virtual machine file for VirtualBox or VMWare.

Choose your format, set a version number, and that build will always be available for downloading or "cloning." Not quite sure what to do with the files you received? Here's SUSE Studio's guide to using SUSE Studio appliances—though we'd certainly welcome more tips, especially on imaging USB drives with .RAW image files, in the comments.

Don't have the time or patience to burn a CD or install a new virtual machine? SUSE Studio actually lets you run your custom-built appliances on their own virtualization servers, for up to one hour, for free. Hit the "testdrive" link on one of your builds, and wait for it to boot up.

this plug-in add a smart keyboard on your operating system and it works nicely
use it with Microsoft word it works very nice

After Spending my weekend to Read about WPF

The Windows Presentation Foundation (or WPF), formerly code-named Avalon, is a graphical subsystem in .NET Framework 3.0 (formerly called WinFX), which uses a markup language, known as XAML, for rich user interface development. WPF is included with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, and is also available for Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, and Windows Server 2003. It provides a consistent programming model for building applications and provides a clear separation between the user interface and the business logic. A WPF application can be deployed on the desktop or hosted in a web browser. It also enables rich control, design, and development of the visual aspects of Windows programs. It aims to unify a number of application services: user interface, 2D and 3D drawing, fixed and adaptive documents, advanced typography, vector graphics, raster graphics, animation, data binding, audio and video. Although Windows Forms will continue to be widely used, and Microsoft has created only a few WPF applications, the company promotes WPF for line-of-business applications. Future Microsoft software will be built on WPF; for example, the code editor in Visual Studio 2010 has been rebuilt on WPF.

it is really interesting technology and it will change the way to Design GUI for Standalone and Websites Solutions.
