<description>&lt;b&gt;Description:&lt;/b&gt; Catawba County Social Services is recruiting for a highly motivated team player to fill  an Income Maintenance Caseworker position in a manner that contributes to the provision of excellent services in a customer oriented work setting.  Duties include interviewing existing and prospective clients for the Food Assistance Program and then collecting, researching, verifying, analyzing and evaluating information gathered to make a determination of eligibility.  This person will interpret State and Federal guidelines and determine how they apply to each individual situation.  Services will be provided accurately and in a prompt manner according to state and federal mandated processing deadlines.  In addition, this position will manage an ongoing caseload by redetermining eligibility and reacting to numerous changes under strict deadlines.  Other duties include assuring that applicants understand the process of registering with the Employment and Training or Education (Career Start) program, training each client on the process of using electronic benefit cards and the proper use and care of benefits, educating the community of the availability and benefits of the Food Assistance Program, and referring applicants/recipients to other community services such as Hickory Housing Authority, Cooperative Christian Ministry, Life Line Link-up, First-Step, etc. when other services are needed.

REQUIRES:  An AA degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum and one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering, compiling and analysis of data, performance of mathematical or legal tasks, and one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Applicants must possess one year of experience in Food Assistance Income Maintenance in order to be fully qualified.  However, trainees may be accepted. (Trainee salary is $28,222.)  Those with bilingual skills (English-Spanish) are encouraged to apply. Catawba County Parks is recruiting a person or two to perform “fill in” Park Ranger work at certain times a year to cover for other Park Rangers or assist with special projects.  Catawba County, a passive park system, operates three parks – Baker’s Mountain, Riverbend Park, and St. Stephens Park.  Park Rangers perform public relations activities; enforce park ordinances; plan and execute park improvement, beautification, and maintenance projects; plan, schedule, and conduct volunteer and educational programs for park patrons; and open and close parks according to set schedule. In addition, these persons gather and input statistical data into the park’s computer daily.  These positions will be hourly positions, without benefits, working as needed throughout the year.  (Hourly employees will work no more than 1,000 hours per year, with no minimum hours guaranteed.)   

REQUIRES:  Associates degree in applied science with one year of related experience; or High School and 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Preferred candidate will possess degree in Biology, Natural Resource Management/Forestry, Horticulture or related Applied Science.  Coursework in these areas can be substituted for the required work experience. <description>&lt;b&gt;Description:&lt;/b&gt; Come join Catawba County Social Services (Family NET) for an opportunity that is new and innovative in the field of mental health, where we are continually striving to reach our client base in better and new ways.  Family NET is recruiting a licensed therapist to provide outpatient mental health services to children and youth in the school setting. Services provided to consumers include assessment, development of treatment plans, consultation with teachers/school personnel, and individual, family and group therapy. The individual will be expected to run/lead a minimum of two therapy groups per week. This position focuses on services to children who are having behavioral problems in school, are victims of neglect, abuse, maltreatment or who have significant mental and/or emotional disturbance. Duties include developing, coordinating, and implementing outcome focused services for consumers through direct therapy and planning, case management, and linking clients to agencies and services.  Documentation and record-keeping duties are included.  This is an 80% position (9.6 months), working a full time schedule (40 hours per week) during the school year.  Employee will not work during the summer break while students are out of school.  Salary and benefits for positions are paid year-round at 80%.

REQUIRES:  Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy and two to three years of post-graduate counseling experience.  Must be licensed or eligible for NC Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychological Associate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist upon date of hire. Provisionally licensed/board eligible candidates will be considered; however, full licensure  must be obtained within 30 months of date of hire in order to maintain employment.  Skills/experience in providing person-centered and family-focused services are essential.   In addition, this position requires excellent time and informational management skills as well as communication/interpersonal skills.  A valid NC Driver's license is required.
