Nice little insight into the making of an incredibly addictive game.

given that the game was created for the Experimental Gameplay’s ‘Bare Minimum’ challenge — the documents show a game more complex than what we eventually received, with its anonymous runner able to pull off sliding ducks on top of his now-singular jump, and ‘edit’ and ‘profile’ modes obviously stripped from the game (indeed, the entire game seems to now live inside what Saltsman originally had planned as a ‘quick race’ option).

Christopher spent six years documenting these amazing old buildings where in 1948 more than half a million people were being kept. To say the buildings are lavish is an understatement. While the occupants may or may not have been able to appreciate them, these buildings are magnificent.

These photographs of albatross chicks were made just a few weeks ago on Midway Atoll, a tiny stretch of sand and coral near the middle of the North Pacific. The nesting babies are fed bellies-full of plastic by their parents, who soar out over the vast polluted ocean collecting what looks to them like food to bring back to their young. On this diet of human trash, every year tens of thousands of albatross chicks die on Midway from starvation, toxicity, and choking.

To document this phenomenon as faithfully as possible, not a single piece of plastic in any of these photographs was moved, placed, manipulated, arranged, or altered in any way. These images depict the actual stomach contents of baby birds in one of the world’s most remote marine sanctuaries, more than 2000 miles from the nearest continent.

A “Gaza-made zebra”, (a donkey painted with stripes), stands in a cage at the “Happy Land Zoo” just outside Gaza City on October 3, 2009. Faced with an Israeli blockade, the Palestinian zookeepers were unable to bring in real zebras. Their solution was to paint a couple of donkeys at the zoo, which have become symbols of life under the Israeli blockade, a local attraction and a bit of a joke.
