What do you get if you cross a Panda & a Penguin?…. a Skunk? (sorry bad joke)

We have been working with may clients over the months on Panda Recover, now we are doing Penguin Reseach and working with webmasters that didnt know what kind of links they had out there…. or if they did know, what they can do to “clean it up” – My consulting time is really my focus right now, working with webmasters, making a plan, and either have us clean up the mess or give them the tools to-do it themselves.

This personally makes me sad, we try so hard to be transparent, we tell our clients where we look to build credibility for them, we want our clients to be active on social outlets with us! We are about Branding a site, and getting them creditably in return I believe Google says thanks! here is some rankings…

“certainly not unethical to have all your links come into your site, and you decide who to link within your site, I do think having more links because you have great content is a great is a better way to rank well”

But some of these webmasters really really got hit, and not because they should of Some of them should so I am not going to be Anti Google and start making my petition sign yet, but what I do hope is these webmasters are able to recover. Amazon will always survive, lets let these adorable fun mom and pa dot comers do it too!!

Yes I am a SEOer, I have been doing Internet Marketing since mid to late 90′s (online marketing, optimizing website, getting traffic or all the other fun things we used todo back then) …. Then the term SEO came around about 10 years ago* - Back around 8 years ago people would ask, so Cat what do you do again?? I would say, I do SEO… People would say WHAT? I say SEO… they say What… thats where SEOwhat.com came from… I love what I do, I have a serious passion for Online Marketing and Social Media – I love to work with a varibty of clients that have differnet topics, interests and it makes what I do enjoyable. I love working with eachone of my clients – they turn into family. We work with clients on making a straticics Online Marketing Plan that will help Brand them, get them noticed but not banned. I will be honest and say.. yes there are times we do things, and once Google say DO NOT do that, we don’t or if we see that the strategy is becoming “over saturated” or I call it being “taken over by the other side”, we stop, gather our heads and say.. ok how can we brand our clients better in the WORLD WIDE WEB, so they get noticed! My thoughts on this is if your branding is doing what you need on the web, google should give you happy points and say nice job, your out there, your marketing yourself and gosh darn it your doing a good job…

So I went to a Google Workshop last week the day after Mr Penguin came out, and recorded the whole thing… things I heard this google employee say where, “you don’t need an SEO company”
My Fav was this:

Google trying to change the perception that you don’t have to hire an SEO company. They set up a Google Places and “wipe their hands” while they collect thousands of dollars per month.

Well I wish SEOwhat charged thousands for that but we dont, what we do, is take care of it for a webmaster that 1. doesnt have time or just doesn’t even want to know how… they is why there are experts, and professionals todo what they do best and let others run there business.

They kept talking about “all you need the google universe” “have patience, being ranked in google takes time”

“Set Realistic Expectations

-biggest factor: Time. 6-9 Months just to get on Google Search results. ” (and that’s not page 1 folks!

I really like that he said that, then I can take that snip it, and allow my prospects to know I cant do this overnight and I wont

Another source I read is saying google is stating if you are relying on us to make money…. your a failure…

THIS urks me! why…. in the 80′s Business relied on billboards, Radio Stations, Newspapers, Magazines to get them “noticed” well GOOGLE… You kinda are that now for dot coms, you own YouTube, You Own Google +, your Google Places, AdSence, Google Catalogs, and so much more…. Google you are the yellow page of the 80′s… so why cant a person say well if google owns all this and this is where 98% of searches come from then thats where I need to be… But I guess, since that is where my smart phone search, my brower chrome searches google… I would want my buiness to be on google… but dont rely on Google is kinda an oxymoron (i love that word)

If that is where the general population is “going” to find information… then yes Buiness will reply on it! where else can they. Google shows us the results saying that “Googgles search and advertising tools generated 64 billion of economic activity in 2010″

So Google where do you want my clients to rely on, what do I tell these people when they say I am already laying off people when you built it…

Ok now I am ranting and not making sense, I must stop now, but I am sorry for all the webmasters that are looking at how they will be making a living today, since unemployment is at its highest…..

My advice to anyone that got the “love letter” (unnatural links) if find them, remove them and write your I have done xyz to google allowing them to so graciously put your rankings back… In the mean time, if you want to make sales on google (but remember not to rely on google) then You have Google Adwords, paying per click will get you ranked in yellow right away!

Well I used to use my blog for personal things, this way my family all over can see what the heck we are up 2!

But now I am going to mix biz with pleasure. I will be posting more of my feelings on whats going on with the WWW here… (it’s all about Author Authority) .)

Well have had neck pain for over 8 years due to a stop I don’t feel like repeating at the moment…

So for people just getting a update:
I have chronic neck pain and major inflammation of my neck from a injury in 2002, my left side would start to fall asleep for no reason so we did a MRI a few months back:
Verdic
Dergenitive (sp) Disc disease
Herniated Disc c4 & 5
Narrowing of my spinal cord
End plates my nerve endings are flattening
Bone spurs
And another word that mean arthritis.

So moving forward I was suggested to do 3 consecutive epidural spinal injections to help with information and stuff… Can only do 3 per year per doc, so he wants to get them all done right away….

I’m pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn’t been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.

My third story is about death.

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at 7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn’t even know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in order, which is doctor’s code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your kids everything you thought you’d have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.

I lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines, put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated, but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and I’m fine now.

This was the closest I’ve been to facing death, and I hope it’s the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960′s, before personal computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors, and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and great notions.

Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.

My little girl with a big heart!

So going threw all the emotions that end of summer bring, topping that with a horribly messed up neck, I need to make sure my little one knows I am ok!
My mom told me she was crying the other night when she stayed over, so gma asked what is wrong.

“when I think about my mom, I think about her neck and her pain and gma it breaks my heart”

First off wow! She is only 4! But amazing…. So after that I packed her up as her neighbor friend invited us to a Octoberfest for kids! We jumped in there Car and had a blast!! Lesson learned, they may be small but they know, understand and feel! I need to focus more on having fun with her on activities that don’t strain the neck!
