After 4 and a half years...a new blog

After much thought and dithering, I have decided to move my blog to a new spot - A Spirited Mind. I've written 1035 posts over the past four and a half years, and I hope that if you've been following my blog in a reader or through Blogger or via email you will continue to follow me at the new site. I moved all of my content over, and have started the laborious trip down memory lane that is re-categorizing everything. Bear with me for a bit while I get things in order, but I thought I should go ahead and switch so I didn't lose more comments. If you read my blog through Facebook I think you will continue to see the new posts once I change my feed there. I'll leave this blog live because of posts that have been linked elsewhere, but the new posts will go straight to A Spirited Mind.

The main impetus for the change was that when I named my blog long ago I had no idea about blogging or how long I'd be at this or how much I'd enjoy it. If I had, I might have put more thought into it! I can't tell you how many questions I've gotten over the years about the URL - if you don't know or have forgotten, this is why I originally called the blog Catherine Wheels. I think that going forward I'd like to have the blog title be more quickly understandable and more evocative of who I am and what I blog about. To that end, I have taken one of my sidebar quotes and used it in my new title "A Spirited Mind." The quote in its entirety is from Montaigne: "A spirited mind never stops within itself; it is always aspiring and going beyond its strength; it has impulses beyond its powers of achievement."

I also wanted to do a big overhaul of my template and clean things up a lot. I think the new site is easier to read and navigate. It's nothing fancy because my HTML and design skills are just self-taught, but I like it.

In addition to launching a new site, I've also joined Twitter as @ASpiritedMind. I'm totally new to that but am getting up to speed, but please follow me if you're on Twitter too.

This will be my last post on Catherine Wheels, and I would hate to miss all of your comments and friendship, so please do add A Spirited Mind to your readers and Blogger follows now so you won't forget! If you have my blog linked in your sidebar I'd also love it if you changed that over to the new blog when you get the chance.
