If you’re going to wind up putting people who don’t know each other on tables together, give them something to talk about! This can range through a variety of puzzles and games, including writing a quiz about yourselves that can only be answered by people talking to one another, fortune-telling (the paper ones you had at school), brain teasers or wind-up toys to race. Just pick something in keeping with the theme.

Some envelope sizes and weights have different costs, so it’s worth making up a complete invitation with everything you want to include and taking it to the post office to have it weighed and accurately priced. It may take a bit of standing in the queue, but it’ll be worth it in the long run!

First off, my apologies that it’s been a few weeks since I last posted one of these. Unfortunately the job that pays the rent forced me to put in a few 12-hour days, and I sadly did not have time for anything else. *le sigh*

On the bright side, the conference is over and I have my life back, and it feels good to be back into the habit of blogging. So, to make up for all the missed posts, I offer a few thoughts on throughlines:

Your throughline doesn’t have to be anything so defined as a theme, it could be something as simple as a colour or a motif that you carry across different elements of the day.

Having a throughline will help keep your day co-ordinated, and make it look of a piece while avoiding any clashes. Make your throughline something that suits you and use it to tie your day together!

When one of my best friends got married last year, this particular bit of advice definitely upped the amount of time she got to party at her wedding. They’d abandoned the receiving line and did photos before the ceremony, so they were able to take full advantage of an hour and a half of their guests wandering around nibbling canapes to say hello and thank you to nearly everyone. This meant when we all went into the ballroom for dinner and dancing, they got to party with everyone else instead of skipping dinner to go table-to-table to see everyone.
