They have been producing a video podcast called That Catholic Show for some time now. Each episode is a short, concise lesson on a single aspect of our Catholic faith. A great resource for RCIA groups, catechumens, candidates, and anyone else who just wants to know a little more about Catholicism.

You can subscribe to the show on iTunes or here

Repentance and Forgiveness

Cal Thomas offers insight on repentance and forgiveness this morning in the Washington Post's On Faith column.

His statements on repentance are sort of in-your-face, but accurate in my opinion. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) states, "Interior repentance is a radical reorientation of our whole life, a
return, a conversion to God with all our heart, an end of sin, a
turning away from evil, with repugnance toward the evil actions we have
committed." This would be why the Sacrament of Reconciliation is also called the Sacrament of Conversion; conversion of the heart to sin no more.

As much as I agree with Mr .Thomas' piece, he neglected, perhaps on purpose the fact that we are commanded by Jesus to forgive, if we seek forgiveness ourselves.

powered by performancing firefox

Real Presence

Today's Gospel Reading recalls the disciples coming to recognize Jesus after His Resurrection in the "breaking of bread." The concept of Real Presence in the Eucharist came to mind for me as I read. I know the term transubstantiation is the heady term used to explain this concept and it can be difficult for some to grasp. But for me, the stories of the Last Supper and of the disciples on their way to Emmaus confirm for me that the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

powered by performancing firefox

Welcome Home!!

Welcome home to all the new converts this Easter weekend.
