I was positively giddy with excitement when I heard all the birds singing their feathery hearts out earlier today.  Speaking of birds:

I looked and didn’t see this little fellow posted, if he has been, well.. think of it as a spring repeat. I was testing out different types of pencils with him. Parts worked very well, other parts were a bit heavy handed. Initially I didn’t like him, but looking at him again, I rather like him. The head shape is just about correct.

I haven’t drawn much since I started feeling kind of ill. I’ll try again this week… I’m getting that itchy feeling when I get around pencils and paper. I’m going to take another stab at drawing cats again. Well… still a bit of daylight left to the day. I’m heading back out to enjoy it.

A spokesperson would only confirm that six jobs “were impacted.”

I pulled it from a story I found over at the CBC website.  What happened to plain speak?  I’m sorry, the jobs were not impacted! This useless verbiage is nonsense. Check the definition from Oxford dictionary:

• adjective 1 (of a tooth) wedged between another tooth and the jaw. 2 (of a fractured bone) having the parts crushed together

Yes, losing your job is painful, but I’m reasonably sure the person(s) did not have their parts crushed. People who use phrases like “were impacted” show a couple of things: a woeful ignorance of the meaning of the words; a ridiculous desire to make themselves sound intelligent. Sorry, but the use of impacted here is idiotic.

How about six jobs were affected? Or is clarity to simplistic?

So I continue to sit in my little comfy chair, thinking of all the things I should be writing about. The end result is, you, my lovelies, don’t get to share my shatteringly wonderful ideas. Lately I haven’t been feeling well. Gallbladder problems. Bugger eh? Who knew such a small little organ can be such a monumental pain in the ass. The first inkling I had that my gallbladder was going to become a bad memory was the night I spent in emergency, turbo vomiting and well let’s just say puking on the surgeon is never a good idea. Although he was very nice about it. I’m still in possession of the annoying piece of my anatomy and waiting for the day they’ll take it. Trust me… I can’t wait. As I said, who knew it could be such a pain.

It’s funny how something you are only vaguely aware of can cause such problems. So if I disappear for a couple of days, it’s because I’m feeling pathetic and sorry for myself.

Makes me want to start hatching them again… then again maybe not.

Now… there’s one little problem with the form you fill out on line. Take a look:

In order to get your advanced TTC pass, they require your driver’s license. I don’t have a problem with requiring some sort of ID for security, but … seriously, a driver’s license? I know quite a few TTC users that don’t have a driver’s license, it really isn’t a necessity in Toronto. So they can’t fill out the form – they get rejected.

Yes, yes, I know, you can still buy your pass at the kiosks or booths. But there is a certain irony in an organisation that is promoting mass transit, requiring users to show a driver’s license to get a mass transit pass via mail.

You think the TTC could come up with a few choices for proof of ID.  A little bit of imagination is called for.

Party Rats

What? You haven’t heard of Party Rats! You’re kidding, right? They’re the best thing to happen to partying since the mirror ball. People of all ages are putting these colorful, plastic, rodent lights on their fingers and waving their hands in the air like they just don’t care. Each 1-3/4″ long rat sends out a different colored beam of light, allowing you to create your own personal light show! Also great for the latest computer craze, night blogging! Best thing since the mirror ball? Well ALL RIGHT! I can’t imagine a party without my tacky, outdated mirror ball.  Just think how cool I’m going to look with little multicoloured plastic rat lights on my fingers. My friends are going to be soooo envious.  And just think, I can type on my blog at night now that I have rats on my fingers!

Might I suggest, if you are having trouble typing at night you try this inovative idea: turn on a light.
