Jan 2012 is here and its holidays again. I got one week off for Chinese NewYear,so here I am again with my itchy feet planning to finish off the holidays wisely.

I got a call from an old friend in kl wishing to pay me a visit during this holidays but I don't think I can make it because I was planning to visit my siblings on the same day. What a pity..ahhhh...

Anyway, here are few pictures that I have taken during my 'cuti-cuti Malaysia'(Malaysia's holiday) recently.
I went to Malacca with my best friend and we had a great time on the 'Taming Sari' tower (name of the spinning tower in Malacca). It is situated in the centre of Melaka city. There are a lots of shopping centres and tourist atractions nearby. There are many parking spaces for cars and most of the attractive places are within walking distance. I saw many tourists there but it is a common sight in malacca but you see more when it comes to holidays.

I saw many people with their families and I was wishing if only my parents are younger and healthier,I would have bring them along. So, if you still have your old folks with you and they are still kicking strong, why don't you spend time with them more in nice places. Its something that we can cherish for as long as we live.

Alright enough of talking, here are the pictures.I'll let the pictures do the talking.Adios...I'm looking forward for my next trip and adventures in 2012..I have a long year ahead of me..
p/s: sorry for many typo and grammatical errors,my new tab is really testing my typing skill..
ohh..I forgot to mention the ticket price for Taming Sari Tower,at the counter, there is a notice stated RM20 for adult,RM10 for children and RM17 for senior citizen but as the girl at the counter heard me saying aloud to my friend that itis RM20,she quickly said its only RM10,so I assumed the price is for foreigners? because later the girl asked me where I was from.Proudly and quickly I said Johor and she seemed satisfy with my answer and Johor accent...well,I am confused...whatever,the important part is that I don't need to pay RM20...lol....

So, here it is!:) Coming back from holidays always rejuvenate and motivate me to be thankful in life and give the best out of this life.

So,even though I try to keep quiet at home this holidays, I ended up planning a holiday trip to Brunei with a friend. Any way, this time its a bit different because I am not backpacking but I am staying at a friend's house. So, it helps me to save a lot on lodging plus I have my friend there to take me sight seeing around Brunei. I am very thankful to her for her precious time and all the accommodation that she has been providing us for the three days there.

I have longed to go to Brunei for quite sometimes since I befriended my dear Brunei friend. Only now the opportunity came and the time seems right.

Before going to Brunei, I have low expectation about this small country. I thought it will not be able to offer me a lot of adventure and fun. Well, looks like I have to take back my words now. After experiencing Brunei myself, only now I realize how Brunei has a lot to offer regardless of its small size.

Furthermore, I think it is quite unfair for me to compare it with other countries that I have visited before as I think every country has it own uniqueness. It depends on what you want from your journey and holiday. As for me, I am contented to be given the opportunity to see all the wonderful and marvelous God's creation all over the world. Being able to see new places, beautiful scenery, meeting new friends and experience new things always spice up my life. I took it as a life journey lesson.

So, here are few Brunei pictures. I will let the pictures speak on my behalf of how this small country can offer peacefulness and tranquility. I feel at peace of my three days there. For a Muslim like me, this country really offer a true muslim lifestyle. What I can say is that I have a relax, wonderful and peaceful holidays there.

Go and venture Brunei as it has a lot to offer especially its'Kampung Ayer'. I think it is a must for everyone to visit the unique 'Kampung Ayer'. Brunei also has a lot of museums and beautiful mosques to visit plus its wonderful food. I would definitely visit Brunei again if I am given the opportunity again. Till my next holiday, please do help yourself with these pictures. I hope you will enjoy as much as I enjoyed it. Thank you.

I just came back from my 2011 second holiday. Where was it? I will tell you soon but right now, let me share with you about my family outing.

After my South Korea trip, my family and I went to our dearest auntie's house in Kluang,Johor. My sister, brother and I always visited her house during school's holiday when we were young. So, paying a visit to her house always bring back all those sweet memories that we had there. It is like walking down the memory lane.:))..

The trip to her house took us just about an hour from my brother's house. So, it's quite near. My mum was looking forward for this trip as it has been a long time since our last visit to my auntie's house. Even though, I have been to her house for many times but still I am very bad with direction, so I was just the follower behind my sister's and brother's cars. Hihi...

We reached her house quite early in the evening, her house has changed a bit with some nice renovations but the hills and scenery around her house is still the same. The small hill behind her house that I thought was a big mountain when I was a small kid is still remained the same. It just feel so nice to see the place where I felt happy and carefree when I was young is still there.

After spending some times at her house, we decided to go for a short family outing at a recreational park nearby her house. It took us about 20 minutes only to reach there.

We went to Gunung Lambak recreational park. It is a small park but with nice green scenery with small pond where you can relax and spend a nice quiet time with your family there.

Here, I attach together the pictures.
I never expected anyone would give me a postcard especially with all the technologies (sms, mms, emails)nowadays. Its been so long since I got my last postcard that I almost forgotten when was it.

Back then when I was in school, exchanging and receiving postcards with my friends and pen pals were activity that I enjoyed so much.It was something that I always looking forward to. I enjoyed looking at the pictures and information on them. When I got postcards with beautiful scenery from my pen pals, I was always mesmerize by the pictures for hours and dream of that beautiful places. At that time, internet was not as well known and has easy access as today. So, I cherished books and postcards so much as I found them as my main medium to the outside world.

So, when I got a postcard from my niece and nephews ,I was so surprise. The picture below is the proof of their creativity and understanding towards their auntie's interest on cats. They told me the postcard came together as a free gift with mamee's purchase. It touched me so much. The words written on it touched me deeper. It said, 'sorry we always disturb you auntie' and then their names below.Sob,sob,sob....:(

Now, that's something. I love them all but sometimes we adult are so engrossed with our busy life and problems, we tend to neglect important things such as spending time and sharing loves with others. Sometimes personally issues affect my life and attention towards others around me. I hope I can become a better auntie to you all my dearest nieces and nephews. I try to be strong to face all the challenges and obstacles in this life.

Live life as we are gonna die tomorrow, work hard as we are gonna live forever.
So, many of our colleagues thought that we were together for the trip.

What they did not was that we went to different places and different way of traveling.
First, she went with her family while I went with my friends.
Second, she went by travel tour package while I was backpacking with my friends.
Third, she went to Beijing,China while I went to many parts of China such as Chengdu,Songpan,Jiuzhaigou,Guangyuan dan Xi'an.

So, it was totally different exactly. Even though we went to the same country but for me, China is a big continent. Each part of it gives different kind of experiences.

While Beijing is known as its modern capital city and Great Wall Of China, Chengdu is known for its panda. The panda breeding centre that I went in Chengdu was very nice, attractive and gave a lot of information on panda. So,when there was an earthquake in 2008, the Chinese took extra effort to save the pandas as the numbers of them are quite small.

When I was on the move through the city roaming looking for places to visit. My friend who was on travel tour needed not to worry about looking for the places. She even had to opportunity to learn skiing as all the itinerary has been planed.

Myself on the other hand, enjoyed planning my itinerary with my friends of where and when we wanted to go.

So,overall, it depends on what you want exactly. If you want a relax holiday, then maybe you should opt for a planned trip offered by so many traveling tours.
But if you are looking for adventure and more freedom during holiday and hate being tight up to certain schedule and big group, then maybe backpack is the answer for it.

As for me,I follow where ever my destiny calls me.....

I believed you would be nodding your head by now and totally agree with my statement. Nobody to blame but myself.

I admitted after graduation, works keep on holding me from serious reading and writing.Well, just to find an excuse for myself maybe. :) Daily reading on newspapers did not help that much as I kept scanning through most of the important news only :).

So, as holiday sets in , I planned to give myself a serious reading and brushing up my 'rusty' writing. Well, easier to say than done. I ended up busied myself with other things than my utmost list. Far more worst is when the 'lazy' mood came invading me,that's the last thing I ever wanted happen to me. So, I tried to make myself busy with so many things but still reading is far than I can reached. At least, writing effort showed some improvement but not the writing style...hihihi..

Here are among pictures of books that I have been kept on trying to finish reading but still I have not accomplish it. Some of the books have been with me for nearly 5 or 6 years but I believed the books are getting bored of me by now. I have been keep holding them for a brief moment and then they were all laid around unread. Pity my dear books.

I hope I will be more diligent and hardworking next new year.At least that can be my new year resolution even though it kept on repeating for every year.

Being fluent in certain languages for me requires a lot of practice. I can sense that my English and Mandarin skills are getting weaker. I was weak in both languages before and now they are getting weaker. I think I can grade myself to C grade now or maybe worst ..hehe...

As you can see in the picture, my dearest cat 'Albert' has also been helping and motivating me to read.I should be ashamed as my cat showed more interest than me. :))...I should call him 'bookcat' instead of 'bookworm' :)

Maybe I should pick up my book now and have some reading before my laziness getting into me...:))

This is among books that I have finished reading and being reading from time to time.I love this novel so much that I have been reading for more than 10 times. It is very uplifting and motivating novel. It gives me inspiration every time I felt so down.

How I wish I could be as what the title says..

Passport stamps represent countries that I have visited and a simple souvenir yet very precious for me.
The way they were designed with different shapes and colors never bored me every time I have a look at them. They bring back sweet memories of countries that I have went to.

Here is Korean passport stamp...
Not that I am not satisfied with the service given (I am a loyal celcom user for the past 6 or 7 years? I can not recall how long but I am sure I have been with the same number and line for all these years:)) , but I just got to know from my big brother that celcom offer a better package plan for government servant. So, what a waste if I do not grasp the opportunity. From what I understand, I will pay less for the same plan that I was having at that time.

If my friends and colleagues are also attached to the same plan,we will entitled cheaper calls and messages rates. That will be awesome. Another good thing is if I make a call to my department, I will be charge based on the government privilege contract plan. That sounds good enough for me. So, without hesitation ,I immediately change my broadband and cellphone plan.

When I was there, I saw Celcom new broadband stick that have many attractive designs. I coaxed her (the celcom agent) if I could change my present broadband stick with the new one which has better designs. Her answer is no. I think she can see my disappointment was written all over my face. After signing up all the new contracts, she gave me Celcom gift bag. Once I reached home, what a surprise I got when I looked into the gift bag, inside it was a mouse pad with the new attractive designs that they have on their new sticks that I have been eyeing earlier. Thanks very much dear miss celcom agent...I cherished it so much..
Below are the pictures of it...:)))
But what's the waste to share, right?...

Here are what I have learned from my experiences as a first timer backpacker who did not have a slightest idea of what am I going to encounter.

1. Be fit physically and mentally.
You are going to do a lot of walking (I meant it, trust me)as backpacking is not a luxurious holiday, you have to do the finding all by yourself. So, you will do a lot of walking here and there looking for the places that you wanted to visit. Sometimes, you may ended up lost and you have to go back to square one, to where you started and have to do a lot of asking around. Beside that, you will be using many public transportation such as buses, taxis, trains, subways, domestic planes etc. So, it involves a lot of physical challenge. When I was in China, I ran helter-skelter up and down the train station stairs with my big luggage to catch the train that I thought will be leaving soon. To my surprise, it moved only about 20 minutes later. Can you imagine how were my friends and I panting inside the train coach? but that was what I called adventure and experience.Without one, your holiday will be dull and bored.

Another example was when I was in Songpan,China. The freezing winter season was already a big challenge for a first timer like me plus the high altitude. If you are not fit, you may ended up with fever, flu or altitude sickness and you will be in bed instead of enjoying the beautiful scenery. Now, that is something that we are not look up to.

Another good example, was when I had a bus ride for about 10 hours or more on a packed and cramped public bus from Chengdu to Songpan in China. When I meant cramped, it was really cramped because there were locals who brought furniture onto the bus and they put them in the middle of the way. As an addition to that, we got the last seat in the bus and what a bumpy ride did we have all the way long through mountains and valleys... .Woohoo..what an experience..plus my friends and I had to change the bus thrice at the wee freezing hour earlier.

While in Korea, I climbed stairs a lot at their subways plus many terraced areas there. Well, no wonder most of the Koreans look fit and energetic. Even the 'ajumma' (old lady in Korean) can overtook us on the way down from a hill. I think with a bit of exercise, next time I will be able to catch up with her :)).

2. Have a good shoes.
As you are going to do a lot of walking, a pair of comfortable and durable shoes is really a must. Its better if you feel like you are flying in them :) hehe..cause it will be a great help for your feet. You will need it for the whole day, so you definitely do not want to ended up with blisters, bruises etc. As for myself, in my country where I come from , I do not need to wear shoes all day long. I do not wear shoes inside the house. When I go out, I usually grab sandals, slippers or flip flops. So, only when I traveled that I realized I need a good shoes that can withstand the weathers and extreme conditions.

As for me, a 'Bata' shoes called 'Power' is more than enough. I have forgotten the price but if I am not mistaken, it was about RM56 plus.Oh yeah, another tip that I got from my friend and experience is that make sure the shoes has a good grip. It is very essential especially during winter because the road will be slippery with ice. When my friend first told me that it could be slippery, I thought it was a small matter. Only when I experienced it, than I realized how important is to have a shoes with 'grit' sole :)..Oh do not forget there are a lot of good shoes with good prices during sale. That's how I bought my shoes. :),so far after 2 countries and 2 seasons, he never let me down..:)

3.Wear suitable clothing
Before China, I never experienced winter. So, I thought winter will be as cold as the freezer at my home. So, I think it will be bearable. I can not imagine winter because here its rain and sunny all year round.Armed with the freezer perception,I packed all my thick clothing that I thought will be sufficient to face the cold ahead of me.

What a shock did I get when I stepped out from the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport main gate. It was........freeeeezing cold.....but wait until night...it was far more worst for me......as the temperature dropped even lower .Uhuhu,my thick clothing are thick but unsuitable for winter season. So, I ended up buying thermal clothing which were quite cheap there. I also bought thicker gloves and headband to brave the weather. You will definitely do not want to suffer hypothermia and frostbite while holidaying.

So,do not be like me.Bring suitable clothing or if you plan to buy one at the country you are visiting, then that's okay. As in my case, I think it's better to buy winter clothing in China or other 4 seasons countries because they are cheaper, fashionable and have lots of choices compared here at my place. Without suitable clothing ,you may ended up sick because your body is not used to the extreme weather changes. But if you are visiting a tropical country like mine, I do not think you will have a lot of problems in packing. All you need is just a light packing because definitely you are not going to need all the thick clothing with you.

(p/s : If you want to save time and always on the move, you can also bring along disposable panties, it will be very convenient, you can find them at many stores here such Guardian and Watson, to name a few..)

4. Sufficient food.
As backpacker, you have to prepare everything on your own. Food is one of the important and must item in your list. You have to make sure that you pack food that can cater your need especially that can give you enough energy for the whole day. Usually I brought bread, instant curry flavor noodles(my favorite ,'maggi' famous brand in Malaysia),cereal drinks that can give a lot of energy, instant mushroom soup, canned food, energy bars that I can easily nibble wherever I am hungry (I prefer 'Snickers',another favorite of mine),'sambal tempe'(Malaysian traditional food made from soy bean cooked with chillies, onion etc)and 'rendang' (Malaysian traditional food consists of shredded meat cooked with a lot of spices until it really dry). They are among my favorites in my food hall of fame list.

Ohhh...make sure too that you pack enough food for the days that you are going to spend for your backpacking. It just to make sure that you won't be running out of food.As I am a muslim, getting 'halal' food in certain countries can be a challenging task. When I was in China, getting 'halal' food was not that difficult as there are many muslims especially at places that I have visited such as Chengdu,Songpan and Xi'an. But South Korea is a contrast of China, getting 'halal' food was not as easy as in China. So, this is the part where your food supply played an important role for your hungry stomach:). Anyway, not to worry, you will find your alternatives. Back in China, when my friends and I was nearly running out of food, we bought eggs and fruits at local stores. We boiled them and had a good time enjoying our dinner with two eggs for everyone plus the fruits.

5.Money and medicines.
Make sure you change enough money for you to spend in certain countries. It depends on your need. If you are into shopping, than that will need a bigger amount of money. As for me,I just want to enjoy the nature,so shopping is the bottom in my list. I usually ended up buying small souvenirs such as fridge magnets and key chains.

At the same time, do not forget to bring 'panadol'(in case you are down with fever),flu pills, 'Strepsils' lozenges if you have sore throat, muscle pain reliever such 'Yoko yoko ammeltz'. They will become handy at the time of need.So far, I am very lucky not to have to use any of them ,Thank God..

Oh yes, last but not least ,drink plenty of water and use lots of lotion and moisturizer during cold weather especially winter. On the other way round, do not forget lots of sunscreen when you are in sunny country. :)

Well, that's a few humble tips from me,hopefully it will be useful. Till then,
Be happy and have a happy holiday!!! :)))

I bought these when I was in China
How I wish it would be as easy as flying to somewhere near where I can be there within a blink. How about that? :)It must be fun ,right?:)

Until now, I can still picture the beautiful lake in front of my eyes, the colorful leaves surrounding me, the clear blue sky above me, the clean fresh air that I breathe in and out, the cool wind all around me, the cheerful chirping birds and everything else was picture perfect in my memory.

So, when I got to know from my friends that Nami Island will be one of the places to visit in our top lists , I was head over heels. I started to think of what souvenirs that I can get for myself there. Indeed, there are souvenirs shops there but my eyes were glued to a very beautiful towel with Nami Island scenery.Unfortunately, the price tag stopped me from instantly getting my hands on it. I was left asking myself if it is a very important and necessary item for me especially with my low cost traveling budget. As my friends were not as keen as I am with winter sonata, nothing captured their attention there except for me. So,at least I managed to control myself rather than following my desire.

But on top of that, to my surprise, I got a better souvenir from there. For me, its the BEST souvenir ever. You must be guessing by now, what souvenir was that, right?
Wait...just let me tell you more about what happened next. :))
After spending some times which I felt like forever in the fantastic souvenir shop which has a lot of nice things for a winter sonata ardent like me, I dragged my feet out from the shop without,I repeat 'WITHOUT' the towel :(((...Feeling sad,I walked slowly past the door....TAAA..DAAA....as just as I stepped out from the shop's door, I found a rubber stamp which written visited Nami Island with a blue stamp pad on a round table just in front of the shop waiting for me. There was no one there. So,my friends and I looked around if we needed any permission or what so ever to get the stamp in our passport. But there was no one there and it seemed like it is meant for visitors to stamp it in their passport for fun. So, by now ,I bet you have known what is my best souvenir from Nami Island. Yes... the passport stamp. I love it so much and I give it a look once a while. Unfortunately, the stamp pad ink was quite dry, so the result was not very good but I am just so happy to have whatever pieces of Nami Island with me.

Here are pictures of my 'BEST' souvenirs from Nami Island :)))

It stated Naminara Republic ,inside the round stamp written 'Visited Nami Island'

I was so frustrated because all the precious moments were smeared by an on sale product that was told to be worth RM299 but selling down at RM199. That was it..once I came back, I promised myself that if I ever travel again,I am going to get myself a better camera than this one. Furthermore, the rechargeable battery added more frustration to me and boiled me up , before half of the day, I was ended up with a half panting camera. So, that's it...bye bye dear cheap sale camera...

My second digital camera as you can see below is not an expensive one too. As I am always on tight budget for my backpacking traveling, I ended up buying a second one that I hope will be better than my first.I remembered my promise that I made to myself of getting a better camera,well..budget my friend,budget...hehehe...so,this is the best I can get within my very tight budget. Thank God, it was not a let down if I do not compare it with other more branded and expensive camera than mine:). I bought it at RM299 and again during sale time. The salesman guaranteed me that this product is a good one but...well ,you get for what you pay...do not hope for a perfect capture moment from it...but all my pictures here are the proof for its kind work..:)

The next must have thing is my precious watch, it has been like a must for me to have a watch with me wherever I go. Since I was young, I felt incomplete without one but I usually ended up loyal to only one at a time. When I was backpacking in China last year, my 10 years old 'orient' watch gave out. I was at lost without my true loyal companion of 10 years. That was my first most expensive watch that I bought with my first salary. She was a very loyal companion for almost 10 years. Wherever I am, she will always be there by my side. She worked hard day and night as she is an automatic watch, so for almost 10 years I never visited a watch shop to get a battery or replacement for her. So, it was a heartache to say goodbye to an old loyal friend, I ended up not to do so by keeping her by my side even though she is just a history now.

So, I got myself a new watch,a well known brand, 'casio'. So far, after nearly one and a half year together, I am very satisfied with its service. It has everything that I am looking for from a watch. It has dual time function (very useful for my traveling),alarm(very useful for my wake up call),stop watch, light(very useful when I am in some new place at nite and at time lost due to different time zone and seasons) ,day and time function and the best part is that it is only RM99. Plus it is pink, one of my favourite color. I got everything from this dear RM99. I am so happy because with the price ,I can get all the functions that I want compared to my first one.

Oh,not forget to mention, the second picture is a cute cat sticker that I found and bought when I was 'window' shopping. I love it so much, it is so cute, so I put them a lot on my camera (you can see in the picture),cellphone, thumb drive and wherever I can paste them. I love it..:)
This is the first korean drama series that I watched and fell in love with.It touched my heart so much..and others too, I believe...:)..I watched it for so many times until I have lost count ,ehehe....hope you will enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed it. Do not ask me how many times I have watched it because just like what I have said earlier, I have lost count after my first profound love with winter sonata..:)

These are pictures of Nami Island that I visited on 25 October 2011..I will remember it forever
I have one thousand and one mixed feelings that I cannot expressed with words upon seeing this beautiful island..Never in my dream and never ever crossed my mind that one day I will be here, looking at it with my true own eyes, in front of me..All I can say is thank you Allah for this great opportunity in my life to see this very beautiful world of yours....... In this picture,I was trying my very best to capture the beautiful scenery in my mind forever...

The budget plan was still as same as and as low as our backpacking budget to China. So, I coaxed my mum and dad for permission. I am just so grateful for their understanding and green light.

So,amongst my hectic schedule; in my still hard to believe mind of where I am going; I packed lightly and tossed in whatever I can think off into my luggage. As this is my second backpack journey, I was more relaxed as I have experiences of what to bring along and what to expect. If China was my first winter sonata experience, then South Korea will be my first autumn experience. I was hoping to have my 'winter sonata' in Korea but autumn will be just fine as long as I can be there and enjoy the beautiful views.

So, off I went to South Korea by Air Asia, nite plane on 21st Oct at 11.00pm,( Malaysian time) and estimated to reached South Korea at 6.30am (Korean time.) The time difference was only one hour where Korean ahead one hour than Malaysian. From my experience, there was no time difference when I was in Chengdu, China as Chengdu was situated somewhere far below nearer to Malaysia compared to Beijing which is further up. Flight journey from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Chengdu, China took only about 4 hours whilst from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Incheon, South Korea took about 6 and half hours.

So, below are few of my many pictures when I was in South Korea. My up most anticipating place is 'Nami Island'. Luckily , it is situated not so far from Seoul.
