The Battery (2012) movie review

2013-09-13T12:08:00.000-07:00

The Battery (2012) was not only written and directed by Jeremy Gardner he also stars as one of the baseball playing, post apocalyptic friends in this zombie film. When you have a micro budget (apparently 6,000 dollars) you have to be creative. Gardner does not fail in that respect. He sets up some great scenes and tension. Imagine the Dazed and Confused episode of The Walking Dead. Check out the films website http://watch.thebatterymovie.com/. This IMDB thread has additional information about the film.

Just under 2 years ago I started a YouTube channel. Cauwel3 was started as sort of an experiment. I had made a video with my children that involved me making a motorized mouse. I needed a place to post it and turned to an old YouTube account. Somehow that led me to start looking at movie reviews and just wanting to throw my opinion out there. As I investigated, I learned that you could explore your passions on YouTube and some people were actually making a few bucks. Besides all that I am a fan of Ray Kurzweil's book The Singularity Is Near and kind of have this strange idea of becoming some sort of digital oracle after I am dead. But I will save that for future postings. So I decided why not give it a shot make a couple of videos and see what kind of reaction I get.

That brings me to now. In those 2 years I have made over 200 videos and gained almost 1000 subscribers. I have even made it onto a few other channels. Welivefilm is a channel and website I have appeared on regularly over the last year. Creating video reviews for all kinds of movies. Getting to work with great people and making some friends along the way. But all good websites need writers and that is were we get to the point of this post. I need to practice writing reviews and everything else. That is where this blog is going to come in. I am going to be writing posts, practicing my writing skills and hopefully keeping some of your attention.

My top ten videos number 9 Paranormal Activity 4

2012-10-28T20:17:00.001-07:00

Paranormal Activity 4 is basically a waste of time. A cash cow that studio executives will not let die. If you are not advancing the story why make another movie?

So I have not tended to this blog the way I should have been the last few months. As I approach my one year anniversary on You Tube I want to commit more time to these pages. The first thing I'd like to do is present my top ten videos. Starting with number 10. The Dead is the zombie apocalypse done against an African back drop.

In Greek mythology Sisyphus ( /sɪsɪˈfʌs/[1]; Greek: Σίσυφος, Sísyphos) was a king punished by being compelled to roll an immense boulder up a hill, only to watch it roll back down, and to repeat this throughout eternity. He is also found in Roman mythology.

The word "sisyphean" means "endless and unavailing, as labor or a task".

Misogyny or Art imitating life? The Woman movie review

2012-01-27T17:23:00.000-08:00

The Woman is basically a story of a feral woman that is caught by a father of two. He takes her to his home and decides he is going to civilize her. Mostly by keeping her chained up in his cellar. Well what does that say about him? That is the real story of this movie. How dysfunctional is this guys family? Well we find out during the course of the film.
Apparently this film has been getting some flack over the misogynistic overtones. But I found nothing about this movie hard to watch. That’s what I love about all the Jack Ketchum novels that have been made into movies. They explore true human evil. They don’t rely on a crazy slasher or some supernatural evil. They tell horror stories based on the despicable things people do unto each other. I highly recommend this movie if your looking for something different.
