Nowhere. Nothing

No one.

It hurts too much to think that we are truly alone. When you're in pain, you can't really share that pain with anybody. Sure you can talk about it and pray about it, but in the end it's your pain & your burden to bear. There is no one else

Nowhere.

What's worse in this situation is when you literally have nowhere to go and no one to talk to. I'm not particularly proud that I have secluded myself to a point that I feel I actually have nowhere to go. I'm stuck where I am to feel the way I feel and just... endure (for lack of a better word). Pathetic isn't it?

Nothing

Right now I feel I have so much to say. I feel angry and I feel disappointed. I feel sad and frustrated. But then when it comes down to it, I feel so numb it's as if I feel everything and nothing at the same time.

I think that if I was given the opportunity to speak, I probably won't have anything to say.
Enjoy the ride

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CaveatLector/~3/L-V79w5bw5w/no-one-nowhere-nothing.html" title="No One. this blog. Guess when you have nowhere else to go, you go back to the beginning.

Sometimes I wonder what the last few years have been like. Was I really happy to not have written anything remotely sentimental?

Maybe...

Or maybe I just succumbed to the money grubbing side of me. Yes I blogged for money. And it worked too, for awhile.

I swore off sentimentality years back. But I think getting hurt is a good excuse to be overly dramatic again.

That's what happens when you have no one to talk to...
Enjoy the ride

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I participated twice in organizing Breast Cancer Awareness month here in Cebu some years back. This involved not only symposiums on prevalence and prevention, but also more enlightened forms of relaying the needs of those who have acquired the sickness as well as the necessity to disseminate the information to as many women as possible. We had contests and fashion shows, encouraging people's support - ranging from skills and expertise to fund raising activities.

I don't get to do much of that anymore, but I still believe in the cause. Here are some clips first few of which define Breast Cancer - its symptoms, screening mechanisms and treatment. Everyone from Eva Longoria of "Desperate Housewives" to Ashley Jensen of "Ugly Betty" is featured here plus more news on the 59th Annual Emmy Awards

Enjoy the ride

Published Marketing Articles

Start Your Online Marketing for Free

By Athena Catedral

This article will help you get your marketing campaign started. This was a "Pizza-making Camp" as my daughter named it.

Their entire Kindergarten class went to Greenwich and had a chance to make their own pizza. I got to learn a little something too. Here's how it went:

First of all you dress up. Here's my daughter, Andrea, in her apron and hairnet getting ready to make her pizza.

After which you get all your ingredients ready. The pizza store basically provided her with the pizza dough, some tomato sauce, cheese and ham. She then starts to spread the tomato sauce on top of the dough.

When you're just about done with that, then you sprinkle grated cheese and then top it off with ham. I didn't get a picture of the latter as she was going way too fast for my documentation purposes.

Anyway the end product should look something like this. At this point, the pizza is ready to go into the oven.

The entire activity took about 4 hours and cost me a hundred pesos. But it was quite worth it. My daughter got to make her own pizza and eat it too - so it was pretty good. She also got her "Pizza maker certificate." Not sure what that means really, but she had a good time and that's what matters.

That's the end of my little pizza maker's story.
Enjoy the ride

Who's listening?

People hardly ever listen. We don't hear what we don't want to hear - which are ironically the things we need to hear. I guess that's why advice is so easily given and not taken, or maybe why nagging irritates people so much.

"We have 2 ears and 1 mouth that we may listen twice as much as we talk," I think that was how the saying went. What a tired line that must be. We usually turn a deaf ear to the unpleasant sounds of life anyway - relationship problems, work deadlines and sometimes even our own physical pain (if I can tolerate it, I'd rather not go to the dentist).

Along the process though, we betray ourselves the most. Sometimes we can be so tactless and yet we resent people who are; we comfort and try to appease the people we care about when they are sad while we ourselves are so difficult to talk to when we are not in the mood; we share our musings and yet we forget them when we are discouraged; we get angry and end up saying things we don't even mean. Then when everything comes apart at the seams, we wonder what happened.

Maybe because people hardly ever listen. And the person we listen to the least would be... ourselves.
Enjoy the ride

Back of my mind

In the back of my mind was always a picture of you leaving me for someone else. And although I kept denying it, the image was just getting clearer and clearer

I’d understand I guess that I just wasn’t good enough. You’ve always hinted in jokes and anecdotes that I never was. And I guess you’re right

I just hoped I could be good enough eventually and that you’d love me imperfections and all. But also I guess maybe it was never meant to be

I was only good enough for the lonely nights you needed company and the hot days you needed somebody to share with

But as you moved on and moved up, you wanted more—the more that I couldn’t give

And so the picture of you leaving me which used to be in the back of my mind… is now a reality in front of me
Enjoy the ride

Anastasia In Sepia

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3vup1oyHDUQ/RmI47IbcwjI/AAAAAAAAAAU/VUsLRbBIJCY/s400/100_0221.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5071678718898651698" />

That's Andrea in her culminating activity last March. Facts that are undeniable… occurrences that despite hail… rain… or storm seem somehow inevitable:

- The sun will shine in the morning. It may not shine on you, who knows it may be cloudy where you are, but you can be pretty sure that darn sun is shining on someone somewhere behind those clouds

- Flies will be drawn to shit. No matter how hard you try to conceal it, if there is a smell, flies will be drawn to it. Sure sometimes we think how come this other person’s shit goes unnoticed? Rest assured, somebody knows they have shit. It may not stink now – but shit is shit and the longer people attempt to hold on to shit, flies will soon follow suit.

- Bills will come. Yes they will come. Like clockwork they will come. Whether you’re loaded like Trump or broke as a bum – bills will come. We live in a world of “pay and get paid.” Everybody is paid for something and everybody has to pay for something else. This interdependence is a fact of life.

- Family is family. You can’t choose your relatives. Probably disowning will become as popular as divorce some time in the near future but still the father, the mother, the child, the sibling – everyone means something and is connected to someone in some way whether by blood or attachment or likeness. It is the common bond that keeps us alive in this world of bills… where it seems sometimes the sun doesn’t shine… when shit is everywhere…

Another fact was supposedly that I’d see you at lunch everyday. In general, it may not appear as big a deal as the previous items on this list, but it means the world to me. And if I can’t be certain about something as important as that then I can’t really be sure if the sun will shine tomorrow either.
Enjoy the ride

The Sentencing Of Saddam Hussein

As a child, I heard his name mentioned time and time again in the news for having murdered, plundered and bombed cities I could not even name at that time. He was depicted in many editorial cartoons as the devil himself.

Anyway he was sentenced last Sunday to the death penalty by Iraq's High Tribunal for killing 148 Shiites in 1982. It was mentioned in Associated Press that if the verdicts and sentences are upheld, the executions must be carried out within 30 days.

It's funny that it took almost 30 years to determine guilt but only 30 days to implement punishment. I am not a fan of capital punishment but neither am I a fan of Saddam. White, Ph.D. in his book Raising a Happy, Unspoiled Child

This trait characterizes a child of about 20-21 months and extends onwards as the child expands his perception of "himself" to the objects around him. This is usually classified in the Pre-operational stage when a child is about 2 to 7 years old. As the child develops a concept of himself...

First physically, he discovers and learns to control parts of his body (note how we teach kids to open and close their palms as well as bat their eyes using the cue, "beautiful eyes"). Later on, he extends himself to people close to him, like family members and eventually things. A quality defined by Jean Piaget, "the great pioneer of the constructivist theory of knowing" also well known for his developmental theories, as Egocentrism. This is the belief that the child is the centre of the universe and everything revolves around him: the corresponding inability to see the world as someone else does and adapt to it. This is not moral "selfishness", it is just an early stage of psychological development. The child just really perceives all these things to be well, his. He has much difficulty taking the viewpoint of others, which is why it's not advisable for toddlers to play competitive games as each one will have to be a winner.

In this stage, kids naturally act like little people attempting to act on their own by walking on their own, learning how to talk, using the toilet, and even fending food for themselves (in the kitchen anyway). This empowerment from not being able to do much during infancy, is overwhelming to a child and makes him feel like he can do anything and this will reflect on how he behaves. Parents will find that they will have to say "NO" a lot more often than necessary. Reminds you much of teen-agers doesn't it? And rightfully so. They undergo the same passage from awkward adolescence to adulthood, and relatively similar factors (independence, empowerment and transition) are at work.

But unfortunately just because it's a toddler's creed doesn't mean adults don't act that way too.

Enjoy the ride

Everybody's online dream

Enjoy the ride

Published!

Just Following Orders

Normality thesis - evil acts are not necessarily performed by abnormal or "crazy" people. Below is one by Skye Sweetnam - hot 17-year-old rockstar with a touch of Avril Lavigne (which is why I think I like her).

"This is me" comes out in the beginning of the movie. At this stage in any young girl's life, by stage I mean, searching-for-yourself/ identity crisis phase, the song pretty much sums up what a girl can be, how confused a girl can be even about herself and that a girl just wants to be... accepted.

"This Is Me"
~performed by: Skye Sweetnam

Everyone has got a secret side
A winding path that's through
A door that's open wide
You think you know me
But I'm changing all the time

Because if I wanna be sweet
If I wanna be wild
If I wanna cry like a child
If I pick up the world
In the palm of my hand
I guess that's just who I am

This is me, can't ignore it
Reaching out, breaking free
Constantly falling forward
Yeah, I'm just going for it
This is me

Sometimes life is a confusing thing
When I talk it seems like no one's listening
Try to be an angel, but I just can't find my wings

'Cause I wanna be sweet
But I wanna be wild
And I wanna find my own style
So I make a mistake, then I do it again
But I do it the best that I can

More than what you see
Find out who I can be...
Can't ignore it...
Breaking free...

Falling forward
Yeah, I'm just going for it
This is me
Enjoy the ride

Bad Google!

Google did something bad today. Just when I inserted the Snap.com search box, after less than 5 minutes they cancelled my Adsense account. They sent me an email saying it may have been invalid clicks, which is of course untrue. I read through their policies (again), and found that they do not permit their ads to be shown on websites with competitive ads in place. Now what's unfortunate here is that, snap.com doesn't pay for search queries like Google does. Something seems off here...
Enjoy the ride
