			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CcfrArticles/~3/-hEBmPDKdt8/index.php</link>
			<description>On Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. firefighters from Central County Fire and Rescue delivered a new bike and helmet to a 12 year old girl who was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike. The location of the presentation will be at #9 Kirkwood Ct, St. Peters, MO 63376.

On March 30, 2009, Monique Holland, a 12 year old girl from St. Peters was on her way home from the store on her bike. She had always been told by her grandmother to cross Salt Lick Road at the cross walk near the fire station. On this warm sunny afternoon a change was made in her normal routine and she decided not to use the cross walk. A vehicle traveling on Salt Lick Road struck the young girl propelling her into the air landing on a vehicles hood and then to the ground. Monique suffered a broken leg and other scrapes to her body and face. But to her credit this 6th grader from Dubray Middle School was wearing her bike helmet that she had purchased from Central County Fire and Rescue firefighters when she was in the 2nd grade. This helmet saved her life, because if she...</description>

			<title>Central County Fire and Rescue Earns 2007 Life Safety Achievement Award</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/CcfrArticles/~3/uG1TahhrCSE/index.php</link>
			<description>
Central County Fire and Rescue has been presented with a Life Safety Achievement Award for the year 2007 by the Residential Fire Safety Institute (RFSI).

The award was announced by Roy L. Marshall, Director of the RFSI.
For 15 years, the Life Safety Achievement Award has recognized the local fire prevention activities that contributed to reducing the number of lives lost in residential fires. The Central County Fire and Rescue qualified for this award in year 2007 because it recorded zero fire deaths in structures during that year. Although residential fires in the U.S. account for only 20 percent of all fires, they result in 80 percent of all fire deaths. The RFSI is committed to reducing that number. A total of 745* fire departments in the U.S., Italy and Iceland received the 2007 Life Safety Achievement Award.
