Pantech Burst is an LTE enabled Android handset motivated by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, and its front is occupied by a Super AMOLED four-inch display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The rear facing 5.0-megapixel camera is at the back and is backed up by an LED flash, capturing 720p video. The front facing one will come in handy when you feel like having a video chat. You also gain 16 GB of onboard storage along with a 1,650mAh battery. The Burst is blessed with a terrific 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 4G LTE, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a great 5-megapixel camera, a sweet $50 price tag and interesting design touches.

If your handset is still crawling along at 3G speeds, it is time to experience the future. The Pantech Burst runs on the most advanced network of AT&T, 4G LTE, providing you with unparalleled performance and speed. You will wonder how you ever got along without it. To ensure the best possible mobile viewing experience, it comes with a full touch vivid 4.0-inch Super AMOLED screen. With vibrant, bright colors and crisp lines, its screen has to be seen to be believed. As the best selling handset platform in the world, the Gingerbread operating system of Google uses latest technology for providing the Burst the flexibility, customization and power you expect from a world class mobile device. The Burst comes equipped with a truckload of must-have applications such as a Kindle E-Reader, AT&T U-verse Live TV, AT&T Navigator, mSpot Movies, Video Chat and YPmobile. If that isn’t enough, the Android marketplace offers you access to plethora of additional work, social, and entertainment applications.

In addition to all that, the attention grabbing design is a breath of fresh air unlike with the numbing sameness of so many Android 2.3 Gingerbread handsets. Its call quality is a red flag, so if you intend to frequently use the phone as a phone, then you might want to test it out in your neighborhood before purchasing the Pantech Burst, wallet-friendly price notwithstanding. It is a great medium large handset with a splash of color and some interesting style. It comes in titanium as well and has a black shiny face, shiny black accents on the side and rounded shoulders, creating a tuxedo effect.

The Pantech Burst measures 0.45 inch thick, 5 inches high and 2.5 inches wide and weighs 4.3 ounces. Like other Pantech smartphones, you will find seven different customizable home screens that you can see at a glance while you pinch the display. Above the display, you will find a 2.0-megapixel front facing camera for conference calling, whereas the 5.0-megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash is at the back. The volume rocker is situated on the left hand side of the smartphone, while the microUSB charging port on the right. On the top, you will find a Tic Tac shaped power button and 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes preloaded with usual support for Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

You will encounter typical services of Google like Talk, Search, Maps, Books, Latitude, YouTube and Places. Like always, you get a calendar, a clock/alarm clock, a music player, voice search and a browser. AT&T has placed its own cadre of applications on the Pantech Burst, including a code scanner, AT&T Navigator, your account info, U-verse live TV and a family map. There are many more preinstalled applications besides, starting with Amazon Kindle and Adobe Reader, moving on to a compass, a converter and Clock tools, and continuing with a memo pad, a shortcut to install a movie app and a document viewer.

Beyond that, you will find a PC Suite Connector app, NFL Mobile, an RSS reader, the Qik Lite app mentioned above; Stocks and a sketch pad (use your finger to doodle). At last, there is a video player, Yellow Pages Mobile and weather.

When we heard that a handset claims to be one of the fastest smartphones of the world, we take this seriously and don’t trust it till we see the actual benchmarks. The Huawei Ascend D quad XL is one such example and in the best tradition of chip fights, it gets Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. So even before its introduction, it seems that the handset got already dethroned from the throne it created for itself. The K3V2 outscored Tegra 3-based quad-core Asus Transformer Prime in Basemark ES 2.0 Taiji, however that was before Snapdragon S4 numbers arrived.

The Huawei Ascend D Quad XL was announced as one of the “world’s fastest smartphone” and there were no items to dispute that, at least till today, when appeared the 1st benchmark in the fight between processors. It seems that, the Ascend D Quad XL has lost his challenge against Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, a chip which overthrows the throne even before it comes on the market. It is a more durable brother of Ascend D quad, coming with same specs but with a huge 2500mAh battery, which Huawei says will offer 2 to 3 days of normal usage.

Samsung Brightside is a side slider smartphone with microSD memory card slot, comfortable slideout QWERTY keyboard, 3.2-megapixel camera, decent call quality and design, which takes advantage of voice commands. Look at the Brightside for the best texting options. You have the choice to type emails and texts directly on 3.1-inch touchscreen, or slide out a full keyboard for natural feel of real keys. Then slide it away once you are done. When things get crazy, you can be entering text on QWERTY keyboard, while multi tasking using the touch screen. It is like two devices in one.

The Samsung Brightside has Social Networks application preloaded for providing you a quick look at your Twitter and Facebook feeds. With mobile versions of these social networks, you can rapidly post tweets, update your status, like, reply, share and comment your freshest thoughts while on the go. This application is conveniently situated on Home screen for easy access. Staying in touch is a snap on Brightside that comes with built-in shortcuts for quick access to networking and messaging on slideout QWERTY keyboard. Just press the spacebar to open Social Networks application. Function + Z opens a quick list of emoticons for quick messaging, while the Star key is a shortcut to your twelve favorite contacts. You will also find a dedicated messaging key as a shortcut for writing texts.

Take images in a flash with Samsung Brightside’s 3.2 megapixel camera, or capture a spontaneous video. There is a dedicated camera key on the right side of the device, which is easy to find and also serves as a shutter button for rapid fire images. It is easy to share your videos and pictures with friends, or to upload them to online album using Bluetooth, posting to Facebook or email. There are quite a lot of superior feature handsets than Brightside, if you really want to avoid paying a monthly smartphone data fee.

The Samsung Brightside is a considered to be one of the high end QWERTY keyboard feature smartphones in the market, with its hookups for IM and email and social networks including Facebook and Twitter. It can also read Office files in PDFs, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. It has substantial on-contract price of $100 with new 2-year service agreement, possesses weaker 3.2 megapixel camera and is tuned in to 3G speeds. The Samsung Illusion, Motorola Droid Pro and HTC Rhyme are just three that incorporate a QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode.

The Samsung Brightside doesn’t have any attention grabbing outcroppings or come in flashy colors. It is all black with shiny metallic rim and nubbly matte black around the face. It measures 4.4 inches high, 0.57 inch thick, 2.4 inches wide and weighs 4.3 ounces, making it feel sturdy and solid enough. Unlike today’s large touchscreen displays, the 3.1 inch screen on Brightside isn’t quite vast, boasting 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 262K color support. You will find a set up wizard, which will take you through several options to set your personal themes, sound profile and wallpaper. The useful, simple navigation buttons are situated underneath display, while the power/end and send keys between them. At the back, there is a 3.2-megapixel camera, but no flash. The volume rocker button is located on the left hand side of the device, while the camera shutter and lock button on the left. The microUSB charging port is at the bottom, while the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. Behind the back cover, you will find a microSD memory card slot, which takes up to 32GB in external storage. It supports 3G speeds, GPS and Bluetooth.

There is also a full mobile Web with preinstalled Opera Mini application, hooks into Twitter and Facebook and VZ Navigator. Basic features on Samsung Brightside include voice commands, stopwatch, calculator, world clock and alarm clock. Standard features are Frequencies and Data Type: 1x/EV-DO: 850/1900; Data Speed: EVO-DO Rev 0; Display Resolution: 240 x 320 Pixel; Display Size: 3.1″; Display Technology: 262K TFT; Email; Corporate Email; Picture Messaging; Text Messaging; Instant Messaging; Threaded / Chat-style Messages; Video Messaging; Predictive Text (T9/XT9); Bluetooth; Bluetooth Profiles, A2DP, AVCTP, AVDTP, AVRCP, BIP, BPP, DUN, GAVDP, HFP, HSP, OPP, (vCard & vCalendar only), PBAP, SPP; HTML Browser; GPS.

The Samsung Brightside also offers Phonebook: Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Picture ID, Ring ID; Organizer: Calendar, Alarm, Document viewer (Office 2007, Office 2003, PDF), Calculator, World clock, Stopwatch, Notepad; Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Polyphonic ringtones (72 voices), Vibration, Flight mode, Silent mode, Speakerphone; Bluetooth 2.1, EDR Profiles: Audio/Video Control Transport Protocol (AVCTP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), Audio/Video Distribution Transport Protocol (AVDTP), Basic Printing (BPP), Basic Imaging (BIP), Generic Access (GAP), Dial-up networking (DUN), Handsfree (HFP), Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP), Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol, Headset (HSP), Phone Book Access (PBAP), Object Push (OPP), Service Discovery Protocol (SDP) and Serial Port (SPP).

Nokia announced at MWC (Mobile World Congress) the much leaked Nokia Lumia 610, an affordable Windows Phone aimed for younger audience. It is the 1st smartphone to break strict hardware requirements of Microsoft, running Windows Phone 7.5 Tango. Powering the Lumia 610 is a modest single-core 800 MHz processor, mere 8GB of internal memory and 256GB of RAM. It also features Wi-Fi, 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 along with microUSB port, a 1300mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Not bad for a smartphone which is likely to sell for less than €200.

It seems that Microsoft made restrictions on the performance of phones, running on low amount of RAM for making it responsive and smooth. It turned off some of background tasks including automatic upload to Bing Local Scout and SkyDrive. But users will be able to play music in the background. The Nokia Lumia 610 is considered to one of the most affordable Windows Phones in the market, lowers the spec requirements on Windows Phone –less RAM and less capable processors. Simultaneously, it aims to come with same smooth Windows Phone experience and is confirmed to provide all of WP features. Design-wise, it offers curvy metallic edges and the company describes it to have a “confident feel.”
