I am up late doing some research for the catalog shoot for next summer. I was looking for a modernistic twist to it so I googeled 'soviet mosernism' to get it real hardcore. I found this picture from the book

Frédéric Chaubin. Cosmic Communist Constructions Photographed.

This looks like a fabulous place to spend the holiday( hadn't it been like it was in those days)! I ordered the book on Amazon and I'm so excited to see all those insanely fantastic constructions that's been hidden from the world during the soviet era.

These are the earrings you need for summer. Love?

Another snap of my display at Gave & Interiør trade fair. The bags on the top is our brand new fish skin bags. They are gorgeus if I may say it myself. Isn't it a perfect idea to make clutches out of salmon skin. I'm into the so called 'snout to tail' movement. Eat the lax and then carry a lax bag.

We have brought our wide range of accessories to Lillestrøm, trying to get new customers. I'll like to reassure my other current clients that I will not take on more retailers in your area. And the new retailers are shops that can represent my brand in the best ways.

Today we got three new shops selling our line.

Some of our items we got in a spectre of colors.

If you want a closer look on the lax-bags. This is a cream colored small bag with a zip and removable tassle on the top. It also has a shoulder strap. This bag comes in four colors with bronzed panels.

What's so cool about the fish-skin is that it looks almost like snake-skin.

Just wanted to post some photos of our last days in LA. We are now back in icy cold Norway. I can't wait to get back to sunny California.

We took a trip down to Farmers Market at The Grove. This is a great place for eating and shopping.

Gave og Interiørmessa

We are going to attend the trade show Gave & Interiør for the first time. I am so excited! This is from jan 26 to 29. We have been working on this for a long time and in addition to selling jewelry and accessories we are now offering retailers to buy our beautiful silk gowns as well. We just received sales samples of a small collection of dresses, cashmere knits, fish skin bags, leather bags and other accessories as earrings, necklaces and cardiganclips. If you are a retailer/forhandler I think you should come and have a look at what we offer. Maybe you'll fall in love and want to help me spread the word:)

The madness has started

This is the first day of the DPA gift suite. We arrived early to get instructions and get ready for the stars to arrive. We had a loooong list of A listers to keep track of. Luckily Kirsti is the tv watcher among us so she kept taking notes. We weren't allowed to take private photos so we don't have all the documentation of all the stars visiting. We will get the photos on monday, though. It was exciting to talk to all those 'important' people about movies, dresses and awards.

We got to know some new people and I think today will be even bigger. I loaned out dresses for yesterday Critics choice awards and the golden globe on sunday. All together 5 dresses the first day! They say today is the biggest day with the most visitors so I have had a huge breakfast with eggs and smoothie just to be prepared for a long day with almost no food or rest. We are standing on our feet from 10-6 each day, smiling and being nice to everybody. But it's fun!!

As we didn't get a break to eat yesterday we were so hungry. The boys wanted to meet us at Musso & Franks grill on Hollywood blvd. This is the oldest restaurant here and we were seated at Charlie Chaplins table. We even saw some celebrities here, but after our day we didn't find that excititng at all. We're getting used to it:)

The day of set-up

Today was the day of the set up. We started ironing the dresses and loaded the car to the max to go to Rodeo Drive where the hotel and the venue is. It's a fancy hotel called The Luxe and the gift suite is in the penthouse suite. We got a room together with another designer and a moccasin boot brand. I am into moccasins right now and want to find a pair of white Minnetonka beaded moccasins. Exactly the kind I had in fifth grade.

We managed to finish the set up right in time for the first star to arrive early. She needed a dress for tomorrows big event, Critics Choice Award, and borrowed one from us. I am so excited to see if she really use the dress and some of our jewelry.

We brought seven big boxes with us from norway with bags, catalogs, and other stuff to give to the stars.

The dresses are ready for the stars to arrive tomorrow. 25 dresses, 25 stars?

The dresses we brought were finished just before we left for this trip. We have been sewing like crazy the last months to get everything done for this trip.

We were done late in the afternoon just in time for a late lunch. We are going to be here all day for the next days and I am so excited to see how it will work out for us.

Getting inspired

Today our trip went right after breakfast to the Getty Center for some art and inspiration. This center was amazingly big and the architecture was fantastic.

The inspirational trip started already down by the tram we had to take up to the top of the hill where the center lies.

It was all the lines everywhere. Lines, lines, lines. My head was twisting and spinning to see it all and process it in my brain. We are working on the summer 2013 collection so I guess this is a preview of what to come

This was the exhibition 'Crosscurrents in L.A'. Painting and Sculpture, 1950-1970

See the fantastic classical perspective composition in the painting. I thought is was intrigueing that half of the canvas is 'empty' without looking so.

After a long day at the Getty we got hungry and tired and wanted to equalize our brains with going to sunset strip. But it wasn't exactly what I expected. I was craving for moule frites and got it with something else that smelled of ... So my appetite suddenly died. We went down the strip to see what the deal was all about, and to my opinion it was nothing.

It was fascinating to see all the shops, restaurants and traffic and the beautiful houses all together. I guess I am spoiled living in Norway with all the peace and quiet. But the houses were amazing in design and architecture

As we strolled along the strip we wanted a break and found this place, 'the Saddle Ranch'. With bull riding and happy hour.

This came along with the drinks.

And yes, we had a lot of fun, but stayed sober and didn't ride the bull because we had a appointment at 9 with Daniela to get our last stuff from the ups.

On our way home we stopped for manicure in Beverly Hills. We had to fix our tired sore sewing fingers before presenting ourselves to the stars.

It was quite a fancy place serving mimosas with the manicure and we didn't complain.

Today Kirsti and I will iron all our 25 dresses that arrived just in time before we go to set up the stand at 1 pm. I am getting the butterflies because it's starting to get real. I am actually doing this!

Magnus and Ole are planning a trip downtown to Chinatown and I told them to get a lot of pictures so we can have a full report on everything. A new day with new adventures.

Day two in LA

The jet-lag got me last night. We managed to stay awake till 1.30! but after a phone call from the fridge repair people in Norway around 3AM I couldn't sleep anymore. I had plenty of time to plan the day and everything we had to fix for our stand on thursday. At nine we were ready for breakfast and had a few minutes to chill in the lobby. I still love the decorations.

While we waited for the UPS to deliver our dresses we got to do some shopping in Beverly Hills. Daniela was picking us up after waiting for the UPS, to go downtown to fashion district to get the stuff we needed. The sun was shining and it got hotter every minute.

I really enjoyed this warm and sunny morning after hearing reports of snow and ice in Oslo.

Beverly Hills. We expected to see Brenda and Brandon, Donna and you know....

Summer, summer, summer

I did my morning shopping at Anthropologi. I bought silk blouses, scented candles and door knobs. I always make sure to by stuff for my home when I find this shop. I especially love the bone and glass doorknobs and cabinet knobs that I buy even if I don't know where to put them. One lazy day I feel the inspiration coming, redecorate a bureau and put some nice knobs on, done!

Back to the hotel waiting for the dresses. And it was getting hotter.

Daniela picked us up in her suv and took us shopping downtown. She mentioned the city was still a bit quiet after christmas. I thought that LA was always this calm. After shopping she took us to a cafe in Larchmont. This is a street with small shops and cafes, true european style. We did some celeb-spotting. Right next to us: Adrien Brody

After a lunch and some sightseeing we took the trip to Beverly center mall and did some more shopping

The best shop for skanky dresses. I almost got tempted to try on the orange one. Wouldn't that be a sight?

Chinese dinner with shrimps and crispy duck. We got asked for id when we ordered wine. That's why we look so happy:)

I begged for an early night even though we got invited to a jazz/rock club. I got my way and was sleeping at 10. Today is a new day and we're heading towards the Getty center for some inspiration. But first, a green machine smoothie with broccoli, apples and kiwi.

LA stories

First day in LA:

It started with a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is Hotel Avalon and is located in Beverly Hills. It's an old motel redecorated into a luxurious boutique hotel. It has a kidney shaped pool whitch I havent tryed out yet. The day was sunny and warm and we couldnt wait to get out and see the city.

The day was so nice and warm so we decided to take a trip down to Santa Monica pier.

This was our first day. Today the sun is shining and we are planning to head towards fashion district to get the last stuff we need to set up our stand at The Lux Hotel tomorrow. We have brought 25 dresses to show to the starts and also some earrings and jewelry. I got the invite list yesterday and I'm excited to see who shows up on thursday. I will keep you posted:)

Trodde dere jeg hadde glemt siste luken i kalenderen? Neida, bare litt treg. Nå er julebalubaen over i butikken for vår del. Vi var veldig spente på hvordan det ville gå nå som vi hadde kuttet ned på arealet i butikken. Jeg må si at det har gått over all forventning. Kundene har vært blide og ventet tålmodig i kø mens jentene i butikken har pakket gaver til den store gullmedaljen. Tusen takk alle som har vært på vakt i butikken i desember. Dere har gjort en formidabel innsats! Vi er på plass igjen fra tirsdag kl 12-17 om det var noe noen glemte å kjøpe til nyttårsaften.

Jeg har lagt merke til at det er mange faste som har svart på spørsmål på julekalennderen vår. Det jeg vil ha dere til å gjøre i dag er: de som ikke har vært så heldige å bli trukket har nå sjansen ved å fortelle meg hvorfor akkurat du fortjener dette nydelige glassperlesmykket.

I got a new delivery to my shop yesterday. New shoes from a Norwegian designer who is also a dear friend of mine. The shoes are of excellent quality and are so comfortable to wear. They have a cushioned front giving extra comfort when you are wearing killer heels like this. I looooooove!!

This is my colour range but you can also get other colours at Dagestad and Svean who also carry this brand.

We have a variety of light and flowy wedding gowns and coctail dresses in silk chiffon and exquisite lace, but there is a secret they hide. To get the perfect fit to the body we make sewn-in corsets on the inside of the dress. A corset is looked upon as something hard and stiff but our goal is to still keep the lightness of the dress despite of this restricted inside. The side effect is that your posture straightens and your waitsline looks amazing.

Todays question is: Who invented the bias cut? In case you havent heard of bias cut it's when you cut a fabric diagonnaly to the grain line. This is done to create a flowy effect of the fabric and make it beautifully draped onto the body.

I use this technique frequently and this is two examples of the look it creates.
