Mixed Media Magnets Available Online

Hello!!

I participate in several art fairs/festivals every year and one of the most popular items are my mixed media magnets. People love them because they make wonderful small gifts. They are a way to own a small piece of original art without spending tons of money.

I've been asked numerous times if I sell them online and I never have (mainly due to laziness). But, since it's "gift-giving" time, I figure that I would put a few up here that can be ordered. I am going to try to get them up on Etsy in the next few months, but for right now, I thought this would be the quickest and easiest way to make them available.

The magnets are $6 each or three for $15. Because we are so close to Christmas, I will make every attempt to get them in the mail within 24 hours. I'll mail them in a padded envelope. However, if you live in or near Gainesville, we can meet at a nearby Starbucks so that you may receive them more quickly and avoid the postage.

So, take a look......if you would like to place an order, send your request to ceeceestudio@yahoo.com. Please indicate the "Group Number" and which magnet(s) you would like. I'll send you an invoice from Square so that you may pay with a credit card. If you would prefer to use Paypal, I can send you a Paypal invoice instead.

Like I mentioned earlier, I think this is the quickest way to make the magnets available now. In the near future, I will put them up on Etsy.

Creative Heart Monday - Abstract Background How To

Happy Creative Heart Monday!

Today, I'm doing something a little different. I'm not painting a "finished" piece.

Many times, I use painted papers, that I create myself, to incorporate into my art. Sometimes these are created on the Gel Press plate and sometimes I go a little further.....adding inks, etc.

In this video, I'm making a new background/collage paper on 18" X 24" mixed media paper. When I'm finished with this background, I will scan it so that I can print out parts to use as background on my mdf panels or collage pieces.

I'm still working on pieces for VegFest As I mentioned last week, I'm not a vegetarian or vegan but I'm making art that they might like. Maybe one day I'll get brave and say "no" to fish and cheese. My diet consists, largely, of beans and rice.....but I like fish and a little chicken sometimes. Frankly, I can't believe that I still eat chicken since I have the sweetest little chicken as a pet and it makes me sick to think about people raising them to kill. I can't even get rid of the little field mice in the chicken coop because I'm afraid that if I move them, they will be murdered by a cat or fox.

Honestly, I created this video on time, but then my computer decided to act up and I couldn't get it loaded on YouTube. It's always something, isn't it? Anyway, on February 17th, I'll be participating in VegFest, so I'm working on some pieces that might appeal to vegans and vegetarians.

I've always wanted to be a vegetarians, but I can't seem to stay away from fish (and the occassional meatball).

I haven't made any Citra Solv papers in several years, so it was something new to do. There are so many talented artists on YouTube. I just found another one. Girda Lipski is a wonderful artist from Germany and she has lots of greats videos. I found her accidentally and she reminded me of several techniques that I tried years ago, but haven't used in a while.

In this video, I'm using thin, crumpled, paper to make rocky mountain shapes.

Creative Heart Monday - Leap of Faith (Trying Acrylic Pouring Again)

I love watching other artists created beautiful poured pieces. However, I've just never had good luck with mine. I don't know if it's the paint.....the ratio of mediums to paint.....or what!

Never one to give up easily, I'm giving it another try. In the past, I've used the "dirty pour" method.....dropping each paint color mix in one large cup, the turning it over on the canvas. This time, I'm just slinging the paint around and swiping it here and there.

As you will see, I did actually manage to get some cells this time. My colors leave a lot to be desired, but I just might have the mixture down.

I'm still working on inventory for my next show on November 11th and 12th. I know that my last few Monday videos have been sort of similar, but I'm under the gun with this festival and I just can't make anything that's not going to be sold there.

I've also almost finished my October "Inspiration with the Greats". I started my Georgia O'keefe painting early last month, but just haven't had the time to put the finishing touches on it. I promise that I'll get that up soon.

Happy Creative Heart Monday!

I listen to a TED Talk the other day in the car about communicating. It made me start thinking about how difficult it has become to communicate these days. We tend to stay within our cliques of like-minded people because we don't want to argue with those of different opinions. But, how will we learn. We think that people are just crazy to believe the things they do...but don't we all want, basically, the same things out of life? Maybe we would benefit from really listening to why and how they developed their opinions and beliefs and, hopefully, they would listen to ours. We need to really hear other people....not just get angry and think of how we are going to respond while they are speaking. It's tough and I'm, certainly, not one to be preaching on this subject. However, I plan to make an effort to be more open, not because I will change my beliefs, but to understand how they came to theirs.

Art Journal JAZZ - Good Things and Bad

Welcome to Art Journal JAZZ

I created this page on September 2nd. I had experienced a "pain in the butt" episode earlier in the day, and I decided to make it the subject of my journal page. Then, I didn't upload the video because in light of all of the misery that people were experiencing due to hurricane Harvey, I felt that it was kind of inappropriate. In the big scheme of things, my inconvenience seemed kind of "whiney".

Then, Irma happened......and Marie happened.

But, since it's almost the end of the month and I haven't put up an Art Journal JAZZ, I'm putting it out there. Just be aware that from 1:58 to 29:59 you might want to turn down the volume on the video because I'm complaining and complaining.

Let There Be Light......and, Finally There Was!

It's been a tough couple weeks. First we were preparing for Hurricane Irma, then living for 7 days without electricity, a leaking roof, and a big tree hanging, threateningly, over our heads. But, things are getting better. The lights came back on yesterday and we had the tree taken down.

I video'd the tree removal and will be putting it up on YouTube in the next couple days. I was amazed, fascinated, terrified....you name it.....while the guys were bringing the tree down. These are some brave and crazy guys!!

I will have a project up on the 25th using 7 Gypsies and Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts products.

My Salvador Dali project for "Inspiration From The GREATS" will be coming soon.

And.......I need to get another Art Journal JAZZ page up this month.

As well as......getting my Monday videos back on a consistent basis.

I CAN do it!!

I hope that all of you that were affected by Harvey and Irma are doing ok. And, any of you that are in the path of Marie....please be safe!
