The results of the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED 2016) will be declared on March 19 as per the official website. The exam was conducted on December 6 and earlier the CEED 2016 results were supposed to be announced on January 15 but were delayed due to various reasons.

CEED 2016 was conducted by IIT Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. About CEED

The common entrance examination for design (CEED) is a nationwide entrance examination conducted by the IIT Bombay every year for the students who are interested to get enrolled in the various design courses available at the recognised Indian institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IISc Bangalore. The common entrance examination for design is an examination conducted in two parts followed by an Interview for the shortlisted candidates. It is conducted by IIT Bombay.

CEED 2015 Application form details

The common entrance examination for design (CEED) should be submitted online through the website, www.gate.iitb.ac.in/ceed2015. The application form fee of the non-refundable amount of fee is Rs.2000 for men of general and OBC category, Rs.1000 for male SC/ST category, Rs.1000 for all the female candidates. CEED exam pattern and answer pattern

The online CEED registration process has started for the academic year 2015. The CEED (common entrance examination for design) is a qualifying examination for admission of the Master of Design (Master of Design) programmes at the IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur and PhD programmes in design at some institutes. The CEED is usually held every year and it is conducted by IIT Bombay. The CEED examination will be held on December 07, 2014 this year.

Exam Pattern of CEED

The CEED examination consists of two parts namely Part A and Part B. The candidates have to attempt the questions from both the papers. Part A consists of multiple choice type (MCQ) of questions which one clears gets to the second level of examination. The second level of examination consists of the design and hand drawing type of questions.

The answers to the Part A questions will have to be given as one of the choices in the computer. The answers to the Part B questions will have to be given in the answer book by the candidate which is provided by the invigilator. These answer books will be collected for the manual correction once the examination gets over.

The part A consists of the screening test for the candidates to get to the second level of examination. The second level of test is known as design aptitude test (DAT) whose score is important for the candidate to get enrolled to the interview process. If n is the total number of seats available in the desired institutions, then approximately 10*N top candidates will be selected from the part A. The Part B will be evaluated for the candidates who are only selected and shortlisted from part A. The scores from Part B will be used as the qualifying score for the interview process. The merit list will be made available to the candidates who are shortlisted in the Part A and Part B.

Answer pattern for the CEED

The exam pattern for the CEED examination is given earlier for the examination. The answers for the first screening test will be given by the candidate as one of the multiple choice answers in the computer itself. The examination is a multiple choice question in the computer. The online examination is supposed to be initial first screening test for the candidates. The part B will be evaluated by the invigilator by way of manual correction which is to be written in the answer sheet by the candidate.

Courses on offer for CEED qualified

The CEED examination is conducted by the IIT Bombay every year to assess the interested candidate’s aptitude for design involving perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity and communication skills. The programmes involved which can b taken up by the eligible and qualified candidates are given below. The CEED postgraduate programmes in various instituts for the specialisations mentioned below.

a) Master of design programmes ( M.Des)

IISc Bangalore: M.Des in Product design and engineering

IIT Bombay: M.Des in Industrial design, animation, visual communication, interaction design, mobility and vehicle design.

IIT Delhi: M.Des in Industrial design

IIT Guwahati: M.Des in Design

IIT Kanpur: M.Des in Industrial design.

The GATE qualified candidates are also considered for the admission of these courses.

The CEED examination does not have any barriers as there is no age limit for the candidate to pursue the examination and course. The candidate can also appear for the CEED examination any number of times.

Important dates to remember

The CEED online registration and application submission falls between the dates of 04^th August 2014 to 01^st September 2014.

The candidates are allowed to select the choice of centres between the dates of 15^th to 30^th October, 2014.

The candidates can download the admit cards from the dates of 07^th Nov, 2014 to 06^th Dec, 2014 from the website. The admit card print out is mandatory to be brought up by the candidate.

The date of CEED examination is on 07^th December, 2014.

The announcement of results is usually on the date of 15^th January, 2015.

The examination results once set out for the viewing, the candidates can look into and download the score cards from the website on 22^nd January, 2015.

Examination centres

The examination centres for the CEED are given below.

Bengaluru, Bhopal, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram. Once the application is submitted, the request for change of examination city will be accepted till the date of 30^th October, 2014 with a fee of Rs.500. the fee has to b paid in the form of a demand draft in favour of ‘IIT Bombay’ payable at Mumbai.

Results notification

The results of the CEED examination are made available on the date of 15^th January, 2015. The score cards of the successful candidates can be downloaded from the website on 22^nd January, 2015. These score cards will be valid for the period of two years from the date of declaration of the results on the website http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/ceed2015/

Eligibility criteria

The candidate’s eligibility criteria are given below. The candidates expected to complete or must have completed any of the below mentioned bachelor’s degree are eligible to appear for the examination.

1. B.F.A ($ year professional programme after 10+2)

2. Professional diploma in design (NID/CEPT)

3. Bachelor’s degree in Design/Architecture/Engineering/Interior design or equivalent ( 10 +2 + 4 years of education)

4. G.D arts ( 5 year programme) with one year post qualification and professional experience

5. Master’s degree in arts/science/computer applications ( 2yar programme plus 10+2 +3)

Please note that the candidates with three years bachelor programme are not eligible for the examination.

Selection

The selection of the candidates is based on the screening level test and second level test of the CEED examination followed by an Interview to get enrolled for the design course.

Screening test

The design administration conducting the examination receives number of applications once it advertises about the onset of the examination. The screening exam will be conducted for the candidates who have been found eligible for the exam. The CEED scores are then sorted and kept in ascending order. (Also the GATE scores are taken for the IIT Bombay and IISc Bangalore institutions)

From the top, around *300 applicants are selected for the next round of examination.

*300 is an arbitrary number. It is subject to change as per the norms and regulations of the examiners. They are selected for the design aptitude test (DAT).

Design Aptitude test screening

The screening test conducted initially is not a complete validating factor. The second test assess the candidates design aptitude and his/her fitness for the desired course in design. The second level of assessment makes the candidate check whether he fits for the design course or not.

Interviews

The design aptitude course (DAT) scores are again arranged based on the cut-off criteria as per the rules of the examiners for passing. Any candidate who has secured above the cut-off, are invited to appear for the interview. The cut-off number varies each year based on the factors like number of seats available and the aggregate score of the candidates attending the examination. Out of selected candidates, only few candidates are selected form the DAT score. The candidates can present their portfolio in front of the interviewer for a complete understanding of the candidate’s profile.

Introduction to the scholarship

The common entrance examination for design (CEED) is a joint entrance examination (All India level) for the postgraduate studies in the fields of technological design which is held every year at the IITs and IISc (Bangalore). The examination is hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology’s (Bombay) ‘Industrial Design Centre’ on behalf of the ministry of human resource development, Government of India. CEED is the qualifying examination for the design programmes at the various recognised institutions such as M.Des programme at IIT Bombay; IDDC , IIT Delhi; CPMD, IISc Bangalore; Design programme, IIT Kanpur.

About the examination pattern

The CEED examination is a descriptive test which covers the student’s logical, imaginative, creative, observation and drawing skills which are tested for the admissions in the various design courses namely Industrial design, Product Design, Visual communication, animation graphic, vehicle design and mobility.

Eligibility criteria

The desired eligibility criteria for the candidate to take part in the examination are given below.

1. There is no age limit or the number of times a candidate can participate in the examination.

2. The minimum academic qualification for the candidate is to possess a bachelor’s degree either in Design, Fine arts, Architecture or Engineering from a recognised institution or University in India.

3. The qualified candidates with a valid examination score become eligible to apply for the various design courses and for the admission under IIT and IISc.

4. A valid score does not guarantee or promise admission to the desired institute.

Detailed examination pattern

From year 2013, CEED has changed its examination pattern. The examination is conducted in three stages.

A) Part-A

B) Part-B

C) Interview

Part-A is a preliminary examination screening test. The screening test has about 50 questions which consist of negative marking. The correct answers consist of +2.0 marks and a wrong answer consist of -0.5 marks. Part-A is kept to check the candidate’s general awareness and knowledge.

Part-B is conducted to the candidates who have been selected in the screening test. All the questions in this part will examine the drawing and creative skills of the candidate. The first of these two rounds are mandatory to clear and the interviews are conducted for those who are selected in the two parts.

The Common entrance examination for the design (CEED) is the joint entrance examination at all India level for the various courses in design to be studied at the recognised Indian institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IISc Bangalore.

The visual perception and creative ability test study material, sketching, drawings etc are to judge visual sensitivity and imagination.

Design aptitude

The development of the new product, visual concepts and innovative ideas based on the analytical observation of problems from daily life situations. Generation of solution of a given material and process such as sheet metal work wood fabrication, wire fabrication, plastic moulding, etc are the visual representation of the visual concepts into visual symbols and form, aided with drawings and illustrations. The drawings are based on the analysis.

Drawing skills

The drawing skills are the Imagination of objects, people and places from our own immediate or distant environments.

General description of the examination

The syllabus for the CEED is not broadly defined and is not published anywhere by the IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay has specified that no specific text book and guide is available for the preparation of the CEED examination. The candidates may refer to the previous year’s papers to know exactly the topics involved. The CEED examination as mentioned is an all India level of examination which assesses candidate’s skills in the area of creativity, technical skills and analytical skills etc. The examination is held every year for the eligible candidates and can be applied through online in the GATE website. These examinations may be online or offline examinations and question modules can be described as follows.

CEED 2014, examination results will be announced during the month of April, The CEED score is valid for up to 2 years after examination, If you require your score for any other job purposes then you may appeal to the GATE director, requesting a Duplicate Copy of CEED score with the demand draft of Rs 150/- in the name of Indian Institute Of technology payable at Mumbai.

Once the CEED score is published it does not mean that all candidates will be admitted , you will asked to attend an interview and after that you will have to appear for test , no allowances will be credited for this plan. Your CEED score will be sent through mail, after that you need to visit the respective IIT, or IIsc sites to know more about the courses offering details. All your interview results will be announced within a week and it will be finalized. Reservations for various category’s will be made as per the government rule.

Defective Application of CEED 2014

Applicant’s attention please, those who have applied for CEED examination it is found that many defective applications are indentified, so please do rectify your defects and resubmit it as soon as possible, The following are the common reasons for Defectiveness in Applications.

New Information's On CEED 2014

CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design), it is conducted basically to check the ability of candidate, and their skills on imagination, logical reasoning, perspective visualizations It is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. This year CEED has introduced something new for the examinations which are above to be held.

1. A non-refundable application fee of Rs 2000/- for Male GENERAL/ OBC category and Rs 1000/- For all female and PD candidates.

2. CEED 2014 is above to be conducted on Sunday, This time it’s one week later than last year. That is exam starts at 1^st December 2013 from 9 am to 12 noon.

3. The examination is divided into two parts that is PART A and PART B, Its compulsory that all candidates must attend both the parts. Part A consists of only MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS which will start by 9 am and runs up to 10 am. After that from 10 am to 12 noon candidates have to attend PART B which consists of HANDWRITING TYPE QUESTIONS and DESIGNING questions.

4. PART A is totally like a screening test, only if you get qualified in it you will be allowed to attend PART B and the score from it will be used for merit list of CEED 2014.

CEED 2013 Examination

CEED 2013 will be conducted from 0900 hours to 1200 hours on Sunday, 25^th November, 2012 and will not have any break. Following are key features of the exam:

The exam will be conducted in the following cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
The examination will be conducted in two Parts, A and B. All candidates must answer both Parts.
1. PART-A is a screening test of multiple choice questions, which will be conducted by an online computerized program, and only candidates who secure a minimum cut-off mark qualify to be evaluated for Part B. There will be negative marking for Part A.
2. PART-B will be evaluated only for candidates who will be short-listed in PART-A.
3. Part B score only will be used for merit list and qualified list for CEED 2013.
All the candidates must answer both the parts. The short-listing will take place only during the evaluation stage of the examination, after the day of examination.
Candidates may attempt any question of the exam (of Part A or Part B) during the given three hour period. There is no requirement to attempt them in any particular sequence. Within the given three hour window, they can choose to spend any amount of time answering Part A (computer) and Part B (pen-paper). Questions to both the parts will be visible on the computer screen any time during the exam.
The candidate has to bring his/her own pencils of different grades (e.g. H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B etc.), sketch pens, poster colors, and other drawing materials for the examination. No drawing sheets have to be brought.
The question paper will be in English. No specific text book or guide book is recommended for preparation. Candidates may however hone their drawing, rendering, and visualization skills.
Candidates should report to the examination centre at 8:00 am (one hour before the scheduled commencement of the examination). This is to register and provide biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the exam. The photograph captured on the day of the exam will be printed on the score card.
The seating arrangement will be displayed on the notice board of the examination centre.
