I had been through this before with my first baby, but with the midwives it was a bit different. Here is what they typical do at the 6 week postpartum visit:

Check your weight and blood pressure. That is actually my favorite because I typically lose a lot of weight from breastfeeding – at first. After the six week visit, it is harder to work off.

Check your abdomen for tenderness.

Check your stitches, if you tore.

She will also talk with you about your emotional state of mind and how things are going for you, how you are managing.

For me this is where it ended today, aside from weighing the baby and seeing how breastfeeding was going. But a typical doctor may also do these things:

Examine your breasts, inspect your external genitalia, and do and exam. If you are due for a pap smear it is a good time to get it over with.

I was relieved to get the all clear and to find out that everything is healing up nicely. This is the first week I am starting to feel like myself – less sore, more rested and able to balance my two little monkeys!

How did the six week visit go for you?

Jessica Simpson has chosen a godmother for  her three-month-old baby daughter Maxwell.

A rep for Simpson confirmed that her longtime friend CaCee Cobb will be her daughter’s godmother.

A source told In Touch magazine: “CaCee and Jessica have been through so much together and Jessica loves her so much, it only made sense that she would ask her to be godmother.”

Simpson and her fiance Eric Johnson are busy planning Maxwell’s baptism but can’t decide to have it at their home in Beverly Hills or in Jessica’s hometown of Waco, Texas.

As well as the baptism, Jessica and Eric are also organizing their wedding, which is set to take place on the Hawaiian island of Kauai on December 12.

A source said: “Jessica and Eric are eyeing the Hawaiian island of Kauai for the reception for around 60 family and friends.”

The couple are said to have hired celebrity party planner Mindy Weiss for both bashes.

While Pitt had no reservations about playing a gangster in new movie Killing Them Softly he does have to draw the line somewhere for the sake of his kids with fiancée Angelina Jolie.

“Violence is an accepted possibility when you are dealing with crime,” says Pitt.

“I would have a much harder time playing something like a racist or something along those lines.

“It would be much more unsettling for me than a guy who shoots another guy in the face! This is the world we live in so I see it absolutely important to film.

The park was my choice this time around. The idea was to let our crazy toddler go bananas for a while after being cooped up with me in the house, trying to keep our baby warm, fed, and happy.

Of course, I didn’t really get to visit the park for long because I was spending most of my time in the family mini-van nursing the new born. I’m telling you, he is hungry!

The only thing that mattered was that our toddler had a blast. He was running around like a mad-man, hooting and hollering like he should be.

Finally I got to go out and get sticky in the near 90 percent Florida humidity while hubby held the baby.

Any day I can make sure he knows that he is still at the center of my heart is a good day–sweaty or not. And it was so nice to just get out after recovering and adjusting to our new addition.

What was your first post pregnancy visit?

The actress and her  husband Brian Austin Green  have not confirmed reports that she is pregnant, but friends say they are “beyond thrilled” to have learned they will be having a daughter.

“She’s been helping to raise Brian’s 10-year-old son Kassius for years, and now she’ll have the experience of being mommy to a little girl,” source told Star Magazine.

“Obviously, Megan and Brian would be happy with a healthy baby of either gender, but they’re beyond thrilled that Kassius is going to have a little sister,” the source added.

The couple will welcome their daughter into the world at the end of September with Megan having no movie commitments until 2013.

“She’ll be due at the very end of September or the first week in October.”

“Megan is attached to a movie called ‘Swindle’, but it’s in rewrites and probably won’t even begin filming until next year. So right now her plate is totally clean, and she can devote herself to her baby.”

Reese Witherspoon is sure getting serious about her tennis game, or the pregnant star could just be trying to keep healthy during her pregnancy. She was spotted swinging her racket at Brentwood Country Club in Los Angeles, California yesterday. Just last week she was getting her Steffi Graf on as well.

She sported a blue tank and black capri yoga pants and looked in great spirits with that signature Reese smile on her face. She definitely has the pregnancy glow… or it could just be all the sweat!
