While other celebs such as J. Lo are closing down shops everywhere, Beyoncé and Tina Knowles are gearing up to launch their newest collection titled appropriately after Beyonce’s alter ego: Sasha Fierce. The apparel line is dedicated for a younger crowd, and is scheduled to be available in September for back to school.

The collection is inspired by Beyoncé’s stage presence (or in easier term: show costumes), as the singer is on tour until November. The line which includes a full range of sportswear, outerwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear, lingerie and jewelry will be carried by department stores including Macy’s and Dillard’s and specialty stores Jimmy Jazz and Against All Odds. According to Tina Knowles, the collection -compared to the previous Deréon junior label is “edgier and tredier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude.”

Tina stated that the jewelry, shoes and eyewear are ‘really over the top’ with large mixed-metal chains (gold and silver), studded shoes and oversized sunglasses, imitating the ones worn by Beyoncé all through her tour. As for the clothes, although there’s still leggings -which are so five minutes ago-, there are also a one-shoulder dress, black bodysuit, fake leather jacket with oversize collar and destructed jeans with mesh and lace details lining the ripped material.

Tina Knowles explained:
“When the tour started, we noticed the definite style of it. Thierry Mugler designed the clothes for the tour, but we really wanted to celebrate the style and interpret that into a collection.”

In her statement, Beyoncé said:
“The line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful that I can express.”

Tina Knowles also explained that Beyonce is majorly involved in the line’s creation, by suggesting stuff she likes and what she doesn’t. She suggested to line the rips of the jeans with the mesh and lace, which made the jeans turned out really different from the rest.

The collection will be available on wholesale from $25 to $75.

Early Years

Posing in his Afro, Michael was already a stylish young man back in the seventies.  As he separates from The Jacksons Five to pursue his solo career, he started developing his own style.

After the release of “Off The Wall” in 1979, Michael Jackson ushered in the Thriller age.  The swagger was a signature jacket which he made famous from his music video along with the Thriller dance moves. PVC, faux leather and brilliant red were the key catchphrase when referring to the jackets.

Michael entered the “Bad” years and he polished his performances as well as his costumes, to add dramatic touches to his concerts.   Aside from the dramatic costumes, he introduced some attires that are easily associated with him in the future:  the fedora, the arm band and the loose white shirt.

Michael’s fascination with embellishments on his show attire peaked in the “Dangerous” years, as the album blown every chart in the world.  Probably a token of his success, Michael Jackson started to gleam and shine in his glory with many gold, military style, which he wore to lead legions of fans around the world to the top of his career.

In the mid towards the end of the 90s, Michael Jackson entered his “HiStory” years.  Michael Jackson embraced his softer look wearing mostly lightweight flowy shirts -even barechested, as well as keeping his trademark of army-look, only this time slightly in futuristic mode.  Note that mirror-glasses he made famous as well.

In his later years, Michael Jackson released his last album: “Invincible” and it turned out that the man kept on being a head-turner wherever he went and whatever he did.  Here are some of Michael’s best looks in his last years.

The world has lost an icon.  Not just in music, Michael Jackson managed to touch every single aspect of popular culture, including fashion.  Rest In Peace, MJ.  You’ll be greatly missed.

It’s not just Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna, but WWD reports that heiress Paris Hilton also inked a deal with Parlux Fragrances Inc. and launched her newest and sixth scent titled “Siren”. Neil Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Parlux said that Paris Hilton’s fragrance business remains strong despite the tough times in the fragrance biz.

“We don’t know how serious the economic downturn is. The recession, as it affects retail sales overall, is impairing our ability to predict whether or not the businesses will be maintained.”

Katz also praised Hilton’s business savvy.

“She’s head and shoulders above so many other celebrities because of her connection with consumers, but also her connection with the paparazzi. They appreciate that she takes the time to answer their questions, and pose for them. Paris understands the role they play in her business.”

The fragrance itself has top notes of juici mandarin, apricot nectar and frangipani. The heart is honeysuckle, coconut orchid and water lily. The drydowns are vanilla beans, sandalwood and creamy musk. Siren will be available in 1.7 oz. and 3.4 oz., priced at $45 and $55, respectively, in eau de parfum form. There will also be a body lotion in 6.7 oz. package for $28.

Sad news for J. Lo fans today as the singer pulls the plug on her contemporary sportswear brand, Sweetface, after six years in business.  WWD reports that the label’s last collection, Spring 2009, is in stores now, but there won’t be any further shipments.

The company stated:

“In light of some new company strategies, we have decided to put the Sweetface line on hiatus while we prepare to reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view,”

There’s no word on when the relaunch will take place. As Sweetface shuts down, the only clothing line remaining for J.Lo in the U.S. are JLO by Jennifer Lopez branded costume jewelry, which you can still find at Macy’s and the brand’s shoe line which is carried by Victoria’s Secret catalogue. If you’re a fan of J.Lo’s fragrances, worry not because the company is doing really well with fragrances and even plans to launch a seventh fragrance later this year.

Joining the celebrity perfume bandwagon, Reese Witherspoon, is scheduled to launch her first fragrance with Avon Products Inc. Witherspoon’s first fragrance will be titled “In Bloom by Reese Witherspoon”, and the 33-year-old is most excited about her new endeavor.

“It was a unique experience for me because I had no idea what goes into making perfumes.  I thought you just pick a fragrance and it’s easy. But there were all these different levels of creating a scent that were new to me, but really fun and exciting.”

In Bloom is scheduled to be launched in November 2009, and is the largest fragrance initiative this year for Avon, which apparently has been building collaborations with designers such as Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix, also celebs like Derek Jeter and Patrick Dempsey.  Reese Witherspoon’s star power with her Oscar for the movie “Walk the Line” and her most memorable box office movies such as “Legally Blonde” and “Sweet Home Alabama” is a huge factor that made Avon goes global.  Tracy Haffner, Vice President of Global Fragrance Marketing and Strategic Alliances of Avon agrees:

“It’s really our first global women’s celebrity fragrance.  Our alliance strategy is meant to be diverse.  We will never be only celebrities or only designers.”

We’ve always known that Reese Witherspoon will jump into the fragrance business someday.  And it’s a delight to wait for her fragrance!

We don’t really know what sort of wind has been blowing in the fashion world but look out, fashion lovers because you might smell something odd. First it was Amy Winehouse, now it’s Courtney Love. You know, the rocker chick, Kurt Cobain’s widow, the one that barely keeps her boobies to herself. Well, she’s had some glam Gwen Stefani-like moments, but for her to actually design a clothing line? Yes, Courtney Love is designing her own clothing line, as reported by her bud, Peaches Geldof through Twitter.

Peaches Tweeted that a couple of nights ago that she and Courtney are having a sleepover and having a ‘hotel-room fashion show’ of Courtney’s new designs. Rumor has it that the collection consists of cotton ribbed body suits, cashmere harem pants and stitching a ruby into every outfit. The line is confirmed although no launch date have been leaked to the press. But we’ll keep you updated!
