Motorola’s new video launched on Monday criticizes Apple’s iPad by calling it a “giant iPhone”. The video also questions the presence of Android OS in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab.

The video shows a museum preserving all sorts of ancient objects. The museum is called the ‘Tablet Evolution’. It starts off from showing ‘Egyptian Hieroglyphic Tablet’ from 3200 BC. The content running on the screen says: “Good graphics … but weight makes for difficult probability”. The video goes on from showing Tablet of Stone – The Ten Commandments, Rosetta Stone: 196 BC, Mayan Engraved Tablet: 500 AD to GRiD Pad 1989.

After the first 50 seconds of the video comes iPad 2010 A.D. with a line running on the screen saying: “it’s like a giant iPhone… but, it’s like a giant iPhone.” Next come Samsung’s Galaxy Tab with a tag saying: “Android OS, but Android OS… for a phone.”

At the end of the video, a stand is shown with Motorola’s big M logo nailed on it and a device covered with black sheets. The promotional video is obviously intended to build a much positive perception for Motorola’s tablets by highlighting the loopholes in other tablets, such as iPad and Galaxy Tabs.

According to PC World, Nokia’s shares are quickly battered by Android, which bolted up over a quarter of the worldwide mobile OS market, and by iOS. Microsoft launched its new mobile OS, Windows Phone 7 this year. It came following three years of iOS attrition of its market share, and two years of Android foray. Microsoft’s mobile OS market share has fallen from over 62 percent to less than 3 percent in just the last three years.

Microsoft is desperate to get back in shape and compete with its competitors in good health and Nokia is planning on saving its leading position for a longer time. If the rumors about Nokia and Microsoft come true, it would be beneficial for both.
