The end came and nobody noticed. No bangs or whimpers; not a ripple. The souls of the faithful were swept up to their reward, leaving a mass of aimless, fearful husks behind. They too did not notice what had happened. Their essence was shredded and consumed by the ghost they’d created over generations. To the faithless, the shells of the faithful seemed to be much the same, perhaps there was a bit more of an air of desperation, but it was hard to quantify.

The wrecks could be seen, though nobody ever noticed them, their vehicles, perfect in their shine, cell phones always at their ear, or seemingly talking to themselves with their earpieces in. They were but characters in a nightmare being experienced by a drunk lying on a street in a parallel universe. He wondered in his sleep who could possibly want to listen to these vile, empty vessels for hours on end.

A poison in his gut twisted at his insides, so he shifted in his stupor. A wave engulfed a small nation. A war dragged on in an arid and hot part of the globe. Death-squads wandered through the surrounding streets. They knew who he was and wished to separate this pole axed creator and the world he’d dreamt up. If they could bring it into a separate existence they could colonize it, for it already contained a population of perfect slaves.

The light was going out of both worlds, fading into entropic languor. The end became boring centuries before it saw fit to happen. As usual the promised spectacle failed to entrance. Audience participation was necessary to pull off the trick, but the illusion could not be agreed on.

Gods were created, and though formed fully in the minds of humans, ruled in unquestioned tyranny. Every one was dead by the end, though they had never lived. They had been brought into existence by human thought and feeling, but had also pre-dated them. They survived the end and predated the beginning. None of them were real.

The death-squad smelled blood. They didn’t know the reason for their hunt, nor question it. They’d play. They’d move. This set them apart. Blind rage was a tool to hide the futility of the search for meaning. They wanted the drunk for his self induced psychosis. Many were outside the fence, but didn’t matter any more than the billions of clones within the set limits. It was because he stopped participating, stopped talking about it and started to dream it. He would bring it all with him as he breathed his last.

People in the world being dreamed could sense their origin. Some fell into despair, some joined the stupefied creator in his habits, and others remade him in their parent’s image. Most had work to do and couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to nonsense. If the world was to end, they needed to redouble their efforts to get the project completed, the war won, the perfect partner found, the dog washed, the trash taken out. The quickening injected each action with a new urgency for a while, and then this urgency turned into despair, violence, hatred and finally apathy.

The dreamer coughed and a million press releases went out to announce the death of culture in the form of hundreds of talent-deprived young droids. Money shifted its tides in their direction. Perfect shiny vehicles blasted the news, rattling windows, killing conversation. A thousand college students died of alcohol poisoning.

Pale ghosts ran inside and barred the doors as the death-squad approached. They knew they weren’t being sought, but they also knew what it would mean to get in their way. The pale spirits vision would start to float and fray at the edges and dissolution unquestionably begin. The members of the squad could feel this too. They knew the dreamer was about to either wake up from his soul shredding trance or die, causing both worlds to be swept back into the nothingness from which it had come.

The light took on a grainy quality that could be felt, like a weak electric current, as the squad approached an alley shouting garbled curses. The buildings leaned in to get a better look and laughed. They could feel themselves melt into the pavement as they reached the corner, beyond which they’d never see.

The silent stand aside, screaming. Seas of blood swirl around them in a storm of heat and clamor. Decomposition has many things to tell you, things that are crucial to your well-being, truths you have been seeking for generations. Sometimes you act like you can hear, but it loses all coherence at these moments. Sometimes your minds take the atmospheric gibbering and fit a pattern over it, creating seeming inspiration, giving their shouts the shape of stories.

Picking up from where he left off on 2013's Det Er Stille Under Vatnet, Luminous takes the single acoustic guitar arrangements of the previous year's album and expands on it greatly. As the Sea Of Eyes EP, on which P. Emerson Williams collaborated with Mark Cunningham showed, what we have here is anything but stripped down, as one may expect with arrangements of one or two instruments. The Sea Of Eyes EP was a triptych carved of sound that used the same source material each of its three parts. In audio and temporal space the central panel came first, followed by the extension, or distension on either side of the center following. while still sticking with the one instrument to make all the colours of its arrangements.

On Luminous Williams brings the findings of experimental explorations into a new musicality where experiment is allowed to mature into method. Raw acoustic guitars are layered with other guitar textures manipulated to the point of synthesis creating a vivid space for the voice of P. Emerson Williams to inhabit and explore.

Fans of P. Emerson Williams' silent film scores, those who responded positively to his performances with Jarboe in the US and Europe in 2013 and fans of Williams' long time band Veil of Thorns will find something to appeal in the distillation of these various approaches to be found in the tracks of Luminous.

Over the years Choronzon have become known for their thick vortex of blackened ritualistic industrial chaos. P. Emerson Williams has shaped this release the way a sculptor creates art by removing any unneeded element. With FIAT NOX CHORONZON have scaled back the electronics and loops on to where guitars and vocals carry the pieces, except where cellos take over on one piece. Very stripped down, no fx on the guitars. The results are no less of a demonic vortex for this sharpening of focus.

Lyrically, the album centers around pivotal moments. The moment when an empire is in a free-fall, the point of evocation when the entity is undoubtedly and fearsomely manifest, when one is on the path and there can be no going back. In the Abyss there is no time, nor space. The only way out is through and the only way to emerge is to leave yourself there. The biggest crimes are committed with the help of armies and authorities, so freedom has to be declared by the night.

With the cancellation of the Nachtmystium/Jarboe tour I did what I do in most situations, I took the great musical energy generated from learning and playing the amazing Jarboe, SWANS, World Of Skin tracks we were to perform and write new music. I recruited my good friend BALEYYG, who directed me through the material of the live set and long time collaborator and valued brother in art Ferenc Teglas to add their creative genius and gave them a week to do it.

This album is the result and it's one hell of a dense and dark experience to rise from such a spontaneous burst of energy and creativity. I thank my brothers of dark art for blasting open the gateways between worlds on these songs.

The coming year will bring at least two East/West Choronzon releases, the first being Escape From Nullworld and then a Choronzon East/West revisiting of MKCCCXXXIII, an earlier version of which about twenty thousand of you grabbed from Megaupload before they got shut down.

11/05/2012 - As they round out the twenty-sixth year mark in their career, experimental Industrial Blackmetal act CHORONZON continue to build on an ever expanding palette with their most varied, unusual and harrowing release to date.

Just in time for the apocalypse and completed as a major storm makes landfall on the US East Coast comes a new album from the chaotes of Choronzon. The Consummation of metanoia is the pain of the psyche growing into new states of being. The Consummation of metanoia is the overwhelming transcendence even of healing to a transformation beyond the human to the essence of being human. A joyful opening to psychosis as means of preparation for easier adaptation. An embrace of fragility as a way to feel the full force of one's strength.

With ///Consummation//\\Metanoia\\\ Choronzon completes a creative and narrative arc that began with Ziggurat Of Dead Shibboleths. The code of esoteric insight broken, freedom declared under cover of night and now the mind is transformed and chakreas are open. This album is the Veil of Maya lifting as the inner being is revealed after many lifetime's of journey through war and illusion.

Choronzon are opening up to yet another set of unexplored worlds on this, featuring electric standup bass, keys and percussion from Ferenc Teglas and the multiversal soundscapes of BALEYYG. "We gathered through astral projection to a pre-determined catacomb to generate the sounds by spectral means." Says Choronzon chaote P. Emerson Williams on the process of creating ///Consummation//\\Metanoia\\\. "Between the three of us we really tapped into multiple streams." declares Ferenc Teglas. "I got to experience the 333 current as a whispering voice in the distance. This is a very unique album." Says BALEYYG.

///Consummation//\\Metanoia\\\ is released by PANICMACHINE and will be available from iTunes and other major digital retailers in December. Look for a book that completes and sums up the trilogy to come later this month along with a DVD version of ///Consummation//\\Metanoia\\\.

Art Ov Musick - Les Vampires, XENARCH

While we continue furiously scan and catalogue the massive amount of art we're offering this month, the music is still coming. We will be making the music from P. Emerson Williams' score of all ten episodes of the classic French silent film serial Les Vampires available from PANICMACHINE Digital Music, and each digital album will include mp4 files of the (roughly) corresponding episodes.

Les Vampires is a film serial that gave us so much of the aesthetic for iconic gothic imagery its influence can not be overstated. Not a single vampire in sight, but enough mystery, twists and wickedness to fill twenty vampire novels.

There are 10 episodes, averaging around 40 minutes each, totalling about 6 and a half hours, but much more than ten hours of music was created for this version.

The fact that this series was shot in post WWI Paris has me pondering the urge to create, even in the midst of turmoil and chaos. the Killer Ring offered me a lot in the way of visual inspiration and coaxed sounds from me that I hadn't anticipated.

The first two episodes are combined into one collection because together they are about the length of an album and the sounds of the two flow together quite well. We'll be bringing P. Emerson Williams solo compositional excursions to iTunes etc. as we proceed as well. It's just a matter of reaching that section of our ever growing list...

XENARCH - Devourers Of The Living

In other news, XENARCH have emerged from their blasphemous cloister to give us a look at the cover of their upcoming EP and they sent us rough mixes of the first two trax as well and we can only say we are blown away. This EP may even see the dark of night this month.

The dreaded Seven Black Blood Texts ov thee GOTHRONOMICON have been translated and the knowledge hid therein is changing each one of us from the quantum level on outward... The Gothrapocrypha hath been located and the barbaric names so foolishly writ in that tome called out. That gibbering in the dark may be our own transformed selves...

The dreaded GOTHRONOMICON has been brought to us and is being translated by mute scribes and the content held therein tested by fearless and skilled mages, though a few have been lost between space... We have a tip on where to find the Gothrapocrypha and some info on what it will take to obtain it. We hope to get this process on film.

The plan with these singles is to release one or two songs at a time, with a lot of extras. This is part of the process of creating the next album. Those who collect the singles are helping fund operations. More than that, with the singles is a ton of exclusive material, including art, short stories, and videos, to mention a few. The more we can bring in, the more ambitious we can get with packaging, collaborative partners and more. The more you buy, share, stream on Spotify or wherever you like to get your music, play on your radio shows, podcasts and spin in clubs, the better what we create will be.
