We are still rolling w/ the informal meetups throughout the summer months for RefreshCA because everyone has such busy schedules, vacations, etc. We put this format into effect this past month and had a great turnout and some awesome conversations. We hope that you will join us for the next meetup which is Tuesday, July 27th at The Flying Saucer in Downtown Little Rock. *Position: Data Developer Intern, Little Rock, AR

Data Developer Interns work with data and technology products to discover, value, document and implement applications for new and existing data sources to improve Acxiom’s data and technology product offerings. The Interns also help team members identify opportunities to increase current product quality and value, mitigate data-dependency risks, reduce data content acquisition and maintenance costs, and create a methodology for valuation of current and new technology and data. The intern that fills this position will work primarily to help incorporate data from Census 2010 and the American Community Survey into Acxiom products.

Required Skills:

*Experience using Microsoft Office tools in academic or work related projects.

*Previous academic or professional experience using SAS or SPSS *Excellent communication and teaming skills.

*Strong attention to detail.

*Ability to work 3 days a week 15-20 hours per week during the Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 semesters and up to 30 hours per week during the summer.

Nice to Have Skills:

*Academic and/or work experience using SAS.

*Academic and/or work experience using GIS tools and data.

*Experience working with U.S. Census data.

*Previous experience with file movement using FTP.

This month Justin Wright from Mainstream Technologies will be sharing some of the high points from the SXSWi conference in Austin, Texas earlier this month. This should be a very informative meeting, as many of you who work within the industry are probably already aware, many of the apps and technologies we use today were born at SXSWi in previous years.

#RefreshCA – GeoSocial (Feb. 23rd)

Be sure to join the Central Arkansas Refresh on February 23rd for our GeoSocial Showdown to discuss several of today’s top applications. After a lot of discussion we have decided to have a little bit different format for this month’s meeting. As opposed to having one speaker offer a presentation and then have group questions, we are going to have a moderator and 5 representatives from within the group to represent the top 5 services. Each presenter will give a short overview of the app they represent (approximately 3 minutes long) and then the group will be invited to interact with the panel and ask questions.
