COMMERCE, CA --- The Central Basin Municipal Water District has demanded an immediate retraction from the Los Angeles Times for the serious factual errors in two stories that ran this week. The stories, which revolve around the District’s public outreach efforts, falsely accuse Central Basin of paying $200,000 to finance a “news website” called News Hawks Review.

Downey, CA - Central Basin Municipal Water District Director Gary Morse proudly presented the Warren High School football team with a check for $6,045 on Tuesday, August 31st for their participation in the Ultra-Low-Flush Toilet (ULFT) Distribution program. Huntington Park, CA - In an effort to promote water conservation to residents within its service area, the Central Basin Municipal Water District is partnering with the City of Huntington Park to provide FREE Ultra-Low-Flush (ULF) toilets to the city's residents. The distribution event will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2004 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or while supplies last) at Middleton Elementary School, located at 6537 Malabar Street in Huntington Park.

Trevío urges residents to participate in the new $75 Central Basin Municipal Water District Residential Ultra-Low Flow Toilet Rebate Program, now available to East Los Angeles residents served by the California Water Service Company. In order to receive this rebate, residents simply need to purchase a new ultra-low flow toilet, complete a rebate application, and mail in the application with the original receipt to qualify for the $75 rebate. With the average toilet valued between $70 and $150, residents gain substantial savings courtesy of Central Basin and California Water Service.
