Commerce, CA – The Central Basin Municipal Water District is excited to announce that Richard Atwater, Executive Director for the Southern California Water Committee will be the keynote speaker for the February Central MWD Caucus. The Central MWD Caucus is a collaborative effort between Central Basin, the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District to bring regional leaders together to discuss emerging issues impacting the state of water in California.

At the January Board Meeting, the Central Basin Board of Directors accepted the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). Commerce, CA –Central Basin Municipal Water District is committed to working with agencies and cities in our service area following Governor Brown’s drought declaration. The declaration comes after Governor Brown appointed a Drought Task Force to evaluate the State’s water allocations. Reports indicate that Los Angeles received only 3.4 inches of rain in the winter and even more alarming, reports show that the Sierra Nevada snowpack was 17% of normal.

The suit is related to a Professional Services contract in which the company continued to bill Central Basin although no authorization was given to do so.

La Mirada Student Recognized as 2013 Water is Life Poster Contest Winner

Commerce, CA – The Central Basin Municipal Water District Board of Directors recognized Cecilia Lee, a fifth-grader from Escalona Elementary School in La Mirada as the 2013 “Water is Life” poster contest winner. With over 60 entries from the District’s service area, selecting a winner proved to be a difficult process. However, Cecilia Lee’s design stood apart from the rest. This year, Central Basin also recognized Ms. Pat Dwight, Cecilia’s teacher at Escalona Elementary School. She was presented with a Staples gift card to purchase classroom school supplies.

Trevío urges residents to participate in the new $75 Central Basin Municipal Water District Residential Ultra-Low Flow Toilet Rebate Program, now available to East Los Angeles residents served by the California Water Service Company. In order to receive this rebate, residents simply need to purchase a new ultra-low flow toilet, complete a rebate application, and mail in the application with the original receipt to qualify for the $75 rebate. With the average toilet valued between $70 and $150, residents gain substantial savings courtesy of Central Basin and California Water Service.
