With current GOP presidential runner Mitt Romney being a Mormon, much debate has been raised over whether it is truly a Christian religion or just a cult.

I am neither a Mormon nor a supporter of Romney. Yet there can be little doubt that a Mormon is a Christian. As Romney said: "I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the savior of mankind". (See: "Are Mormons Christian? It's complicated"). This main teaching of the Christian faith is found in John 3:16 which says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". So by that definition, Mormons are Christians.

According to "The Atlas of Global Christianity," there are 41,000 Christian denominations, and no definition of Christianity could encompass their doctrinal diversity. id. "The atlas lists Mormonism as a "marginal" Christian group, along with Jehovah's Witnesses and the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church, primarily because it deviates from traditional Christian teachings on Jesus and claims sources of revelation beyond the Bible." id.

"Mormons are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church)". (See: "Mormons"). Their history began:

"Mormons traces their origins to the visions that Joseph Smith reported having in the early 1820s.[14] In 1823 Smith said an angel directed him to a buried book written on golden plates containing the religious history of an ancient people.[15] Smith published a translation of these plates in March 1830 as the Book of Mormon, named after Mormon, the ancient prophet-historian who compiled the book, and on April 6, 1830, Smith founded the Church of Christ.[16] Members of the Church of Christ were early on called Latter-day Saints, or just Saints, though later acquired the informal term Mormons because of their belief in the book of Mormon.[17] The term Latter-day Saints was given to Smith during a 1838 revelation mentioned in Doctrine and Covenants;[18] the term "saint" was used by Paul the Apostle to refer to early members of the Christian church - the "later-day" being added to differentiate the modern church from the early church.

In 1844, local prejudices and political tensions, fueled by Mormon peculiarity and internal dissent, escalated into conflicts between Mormons and "anti-Mormons."[40] On June 27, 1844, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were killed by a mob in Carthage, Illinois.[41] Because Hyrum was Joseph's logical successor,[42] their deaths caused a succession crisis,[43] and Brigham Young assumed leadership over the majority of Saints.

For two years after Smith's death, conflicts escalated between Mormons and other Illinois residents. To prevent war, Brigham Young led the Mormon pioneers (constituting most of the Latter Day Saints) to a temporary winter quarters in Nebraska and then eventually (beginning in 1847) to what became the Utah Territory." id.

In 1878 the Supreme Court ruled in Reynolds v. United States that religious duty was not a suitable defense for practicing polygamy, and many Mormons went into hiding; later, Congress began seizing church assets, and in September 1890, church president Wilford Woodruff issued a Manifesto that officially suspended the practice of polygamy. id.

WARFARE

"By 1857, tensions had again escalated between Mormons and other Americans, largely as a result of accusations involving polygamy and the theocratic rule of the Utah territory by Brigham Young.[52] The Utah War ensued from 1857 to 1858, which resulted in the relatively peaceful invasion of Utah by the United States Army. The most notable instance of violence during this war was the Mountain Meadows massacre, in which leaders of a local Mormon militia ordered the massacre of a civilian emigrant party that was traveling through Utah during the escalating military tensions.[53] In 1858 Young agreed to step down from his position as governor and was replaced by a non-Mormon, Alfred Cumming.[54] Nevertheless, the LDS Church still wielded significant political power in the Utah Territory." id.

The Danites organized in the milieu of mutual hostility and conflict between the Mormon settlers and the more established Missourians, with numerous acts of violence perpetrated on both sides and they were active as a formal organization in Missouri in 1838. (See: "Danite").

"In the 1870s, Ann Eliza Young and Fanny Stenhouse both authored exposés on Mormonism and claimed that the Danites were still active, and primarily occupied with the task of discreetly murdering and disposing of Mormon dissenters and outsiders perceived to be a threat to Brigham Young's power." id.

A popular movie was made on the Danites named The Avenging Angel in 1995, which starred Charlton Heston, Tom Berenger and James Coburn.

THE MODERN CHURCH OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church or, colloquially, the Mormon Church) is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has established congregations (called wards or branches) and built temples worldwide. (See: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints"). It has over 50,000 missionaries serving worldwide at any given time, and the church currently claims a growing membership of over 14.1 million. id.

In 1995, the church presidency issued "The Family: A Proclamation to the World", which stresses the importance of the family. The presidency proclaimed that "marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children." id. "It is primarily concentrated in the Intermountain West, but as membership of the church spreads around the world, many of its more distinctive practices follow, such as adhering to the Word of Wisdom, a health law or code, similar to Leviticus chapter 11 in the Bible, prohibiting the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, coffee and tea, and other addictive substances." id.

Politically there are 15 Mormons in the current 112th United States Congress. and there is one Mormon State Governor, Gary Herbert of Utah. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is currently seeking his GOP Party nomination for U.S. President and former U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, Jr. was also vying for the 2012 Republican Party presidential nomination until Huntsman dropped out of the race on January 16, 2012. id.

BYU TV, the church-sponsored television station airs on several networks, and Mormon convert Glenn Beck inspires daily devotion and outrage with his radio show. id. For some of the many famous Mormons, including the Osmonds, see "Famous Mormons".

If you want to read more on the Mormon faith, see The fourteen fundamental articles or beliefs of Mormons. They contain such controversial beliefs as God was once a man who lived on another planet, We are co-eternal with God, What a Prophet said can be revised depending on the circumstances (which if you think about it isn't really that different from the Catholic belief in Papal infallibility), and Saving our dead ancestors shows we are the only Christian church (which is the reason that the Mormons run one of the largest sources for genealogy in the World). id.

Also, Mormons believe that their harvest was saved by flocks of native seagulls which devoured the crickets at Salt Lake City, Utah and that is called the Miracle of the Gulls.

CONCLUSION

While the beliefs of the Mormons are certainly not shared by the rest of us Christians, and regardless of what you think of Mitt Romney, I do not think that he can be classified as being the member of a cult.

In his weekly address, President Obama discusses the blueprint he put forward
this week in the State of the Union
Address for creating an economy built to last. After focusing on American
manufacturing, American energy, and skills for American workers during each of
the last three days, he used his weekly address to highlight his commitment to a
renewal of American values. The President is challenging leaders in Washington,
DC to follow the model set by our men and women in the military, end the
gridlock and start tackling the issues that matter – without regard for personal
ambition.

Henceforth, I will try to end it.

Before you comment, read the "READ THIS BEFORE YOU COMMENT" at right.

Rumors will no longer be accepted in comments. I will take you rumors if you send them to me in a signed using you real name e-mail, a letter, or by telephone. Your identity will not be revealed. I will then check out that rumor and, if I get verification from at least two sources, I will publish it in my "Rumors from the Street" post.

This will no longer be a gossip bulletin board like some other blogs. For example, no more comments on who is screwing who will be allowed.

Stick on topic to the the post to which you are commenting upon.

Show some civility in your comments. For example, no further comments will be allowed that refer to Mayor Roy as a DUMBASS.
Remember that I am seeking intelligent comments that add to the conversation of my posts.

THE FEUD BETWEEN MAYOR ROY AND THE ALEXANDRIA CITY COUNCIL

I like Town Talk reporter Bret McCormick. His articles in that newspaper are generally informative and well written.

But Bret shows few signs of being a true investigative reporter. Be it laziness or ignorance, he more than often likes to simply repeat anything that Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy tells him. Bret seldom asks the in depth questions of Jacques that I know Bret knows. I know that Bret does know of the other sides to Jacques lies because I myself send them to him.

Today's article entitled "Focus on Alexandria's issues, mayor and new council member urge" is a prime example of where Bret falls way short of good reporting.

This article could have been written no better to cast Jacques in a good light than if he had written it himself. It isn't what Bret accurately reported, it is a bad article from what Bret left out.

The article reads of what a great peacemaker Jacques is. "Instead of fighting and focusing on tearing each other down for political reasons, Roy said, the city's leaders need to decide what important steps and projects they agree on and make those things happen quickly." id. "The Alexandria City Council and Mayor Jacques M. Roy's administration need to stop focusing on their disagreements and instead work together on the issues they agree are needed for the city to progress, the mayor said." id. "The mayor's call for cooperation came Wednesday, a day after council members debated whether District 3 Councilman Jerry Jones should have voted on agenda items after being appointed and sworn in to the council on Dec. 13." id.

Roy said that the city officials need to put aside their political differences and focus instead on governing the city. id. But the part left out of that article is that Jacques Roy does little to make us believe that he really meant those sentiments.

Bret left out the facts that Jacques is currently going to court in his lawsuit against Councilman Roosevelt Johnson and some of our former Black City Councilmen. Jacques has also fired most of the educated Black women who used to work for him. He is still persecuting Tiffany Sanders even though the Council ordered him to cease and desist. Jacques also broke the tie vote between Von Jennings and Jerry Jones, voting for Jones, because he and Von had some differences before and she ran against him for mayor in 2010. This was despite the outpouring of support for Von by the voters of District 3. Jacques also opposed the City Council for voting against his apartment schemes when the people in those areas didn't want the developments.

And lastly, Jacques certainly does not show collegiality that he so often brags about whenever he criticizes certain Council members (see for example "THE RANTS OF JACQUES ROY").

And new Councilman Jerry Jones made an attempt at showing that he grew a set of balls, if that is possible. "Jones, who was quiet during much of the discussion about him, said he was upset that the council spent so much time on the issue." id.

Perhaps one day Bret will start printing an entire story and just maybe the Town Talk wouldn't be referred to as the Clown Talk.

The chairman of the Finance and Legal Affairs committee, Councilman Chuck Fowler, clearly has no knowledge of the practice of law. You can also see that Fowler cut the questioning off on this issue in the budget. Some of the questions asked still exists after 1 year has passed since the Council denied last year's request for a major budget amendment and City Attorney Chuck Johnson fired all of the City prosecutors in retaliation. Mayor Jacques Roy said that if the City Council has a better way to handle the Legal Department, he would be willing to look at anything that it wanted to.

Well I have been a practicing attorney for over 25 years and have spent 16 years as a contract attorney for a governmental entity. I was also appointed by the governor to serve as the public administrator of Rapides Parish for a number of years. I have a few observations to make.

First, in my opinion, the legal budget is clearly excessive in the an increase of $6,000 for dues and subscriptions for a total of $24,500. In my opinion, this is totally absurd for three members of the City's legal department.

Most normal private practice attorneys have well over 100 files that they are working on at a time. Last year, Chuck Johnson told us last year that each of the 3 in-house City attorneys only handle 30 files. Of course this went up somewhat by Chuck's having to assume the prosecutorial role after he fired the City contract prosecutors, who were all three assistant parish district attorneys, and had to take over some of their duties himself.

Chuck also said on Tuesday that he doesn't even have a paralegal. Well guess what? Many attorneys still do not have a paralegal. In fact, most lawyers didn't have paralegals when I first began practicing law and only the large law firms had them. We lawyers performed the duties of a paralegal ourselves.

But it is in the area of civil law, everything except criminal, that Chuck Johnson misleads the Council. While the City needs lawyers that are experienced in specialized areas of the law, such as utilities, pollution and bankruptcy, I see no need that any other competent lawyer cannot handle all of the remainder of cases encountered by the City.

The legal contract law firms that the City farms most of its legal work out to are some of the highest priced firms in town. Members of these firms have been traditionally among the biggest contributors to the campaigns of Alexandria's mayors.

Take for example, on public records, the law says that the public records custodian for the City is supposed to handle public records requests. Mayor Roy, however, has designated the city attorney to handle them. The City Attorney, Chuck Johnson, then farms them out to Brad Calvit of the Provosty law firms. ("THE LEGAL SCHOLARS IN THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA CAN'T DECIDE WHO IS ITS PUBLIC RECORDS CUSTODIAN", "DID
ALEXANDRIA CHANGE ITS WAY OF DEALING WITH PUBLIC RECORDS REQUESTS OR DID CHUCK
LIE?" and "DESIGNATION
OF A RECORDS CUSTODIAN UNDER LOUISIANA LAW").

Something must also be done to stop Alexandria Mayor Roy and his vindictive lawsuits, many of which he has lost (see the levee lawsuit, Tiffany Sanders litigation, and the Tommy Davenport legal fees). We also have the silly litigation against Councilman Roosevelt Johnson which is ongoing.

A good lawyer can probably be hired for around $40,000 to $60,000 (especially when you factor in the benefits) for an in-house legal position with the City. A paralegal can be hired by the City for about half that amount. I think that it is high time to beef up the City's legal department, and make sure that they work, rather than sending cases to high priced outside law firms.

The theme throughout this entire Alexandria, Louisiana City Council meeting was I would have to say was the ineptness of the 90 year old City Council President Harry Silver. Of course, Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy only expects blind obedience from Harry, which Harry is more than willing to give to Jacques in support of his beloved downtown hotels dealings.

See first the Finance and Legal Affairs Committee, which the only lawyer on the Council does not serve upon, followed by the full Council meeting.

The show centered around the mayor's lawsuit against Councilman Roosevelt Johnson, the downtown hotels and Convention Center, and the mayor's relationships with the City Council.

Listen here:

KSYL ON 1\26\2012 ON MAYOR ROY (21:07)

As usual, co-host Fred Rosenfeld tried to act as an apologist for Mayor Roy.

Contrary to what many people, including Fred, may think, the mayor and the City Council do agree on almost every issue that comes up before the Council.

In fact, with the exceptions of the mayor attempting to push some apartments down the throats of some Black residents who were opposed to them in their own communities, all of the mayor's initiative passed Council approval.

The lawsuit involving Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy and City Councilman Roosevelt Johnson is scheduled for a hearing in the 9th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Rapides on February 6, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. (See: "Alexandria mayor seeks 'accountability' in lawsuit against councilman").

"The case dates back to August 2007, when Roy filed a lawsuit against five members of the Alexandria City Council -- Johnson, Everett Hobbs, Myron Lawson, Louis Marshall and Charles Frederick Smith Jr. -- after they voted to override Roy's veto of an ordinance that would have allowed the council to hire its own attorneys." id.

Although the Town Talk reports, no doubt from what Jacques told it in yesterday's TV show, that "Roy, meanwhile, said this lawsuit isn't against the council, and that Johnson is the suit's only remaining defendant". id. My cursory review of the suit record shows that this isn't true.

All of the original defendants in that lawsuit remain, except for Louis Marshall who was just dismissed this month.

"The mayor said he wants a judge to establish whether Johnson violated the City Charter when he wrote a letter to Roy on Dec. 31, 2010, that stated all of Roy's division heads had been terminated." id. Quite a change from when Jacques said in October of 2010 that Roosevelt was the best Christmas present he had ever received. Also, Jacques said that the council entered into "false investigation after investigation" and made "lots of accusations" that never have been proven due to the actions of Johnson. id.

The real truth to all of this, however, is that Jacques revived the 2007 lawsuit with the enrollment of his brother, Chris Roy, Jr., as one of his attorneys in retaliation for the City Council issuing subpoenas for its investigation of the Alexander Fulton expenditures. The Council never accused Jacques of any wrong doings as they were only investigating it. We didn't see the end of that investigation because Jacques' lawyers argued that the subpoenas had been wrongfully issued for the December 1st hearing and later that same moth Councilman Harry Silver became the president of the Council and hasn't brought the matter back up.

Also, from my cursory review of the online suit record, Councilman Ed Larvadain, III and Councilwoman Mitzi Gibson do not appear to have been sued by Jacques. It appears that they were only issued subpoenas.

In the words of the immortal Sgt. Joe Friday of Dragnet fame, more of the true facts will come out on February 6th. This is certainly not a way of Jacques showing his collegiality is it?

The ignorant and egotistical criminal and dead beat dad,

Danny Slayter, tells more lies about my taxes.

At no time have I ever not paid my taxes.

Several years ago I fell behind on my total tax obligation and

was placed on an IRS payment plan. As a matter of course,

the IRS filed some tax liens on me to protect that payment

plan.

I am still paying my tax obligation and have never stopped.

I still live in the same house that I bought in 1988, have my

Mercedes and have never had any property seized. I have never

been sued or had any criminal convictions against me.

So Slayter continues to lie about me in order to weakly attempt

to discredit me from the truths that I write about.

If I would stoop to Slayter's crude, rude and vulgar acts,

I too could post vulgar pictures. But I am not that

unprincipled.

But even if I were a tax cheat as Slayter lies, which I am

not, what does that have to do with anything that I

write anyway?

JACQUES GUARDS THE CLECO LOCK BOX

Recall that Alexandria Maurice Roy promised us that he wouldn't hold any more of his TV shows after the first of the year.

12\1\2011 NO NEED FOR ANY MORE TV SHOWS (03:23)

Well the boy can't help it. His ego is so big that he just has to appear on TV before a captive audience.

Maurice said on TV today that he was there to answer questions from the media and us citizens. But I wonder who Maurice is talking about?

The media means the Clown Talk and sometimes KALB TV. It seldom includes our other local newspapers, KLAX TV, or any of our local radio stations.

As for citizens, Maurice must mean his staff and City employees, because he refused to answer my questions that I mailed in to him or of Sandra Bright and Gail Underwood who actually attended one of his TV shows but were not allowed to speak.

Maurice also for the first time today admitted that we have no Cleco rebates in Alexandria City Attorney Chuck Johnson's famous lock box.

Just yesterday, Maurice told the City Council about we could pay the Cleco rebates, from our settlement with Cleco of our $60 million fraud claim for just $6.5 million, from our $17 million surplus. But he recommended that the Council not do so and that our money was safe in Chuck's lock box.

1\24\2012 JACQUES ON THE CLECO REBATES (1:55)

The problem is, however, that there is no money in Chuck's lock box. ("CHUCK'S LOCK BOX").

Maurice, for the first time that I can recall, today admitted that it would be several years before Cleco would actually pay anything to the City. The City will get after 2015 $6.5 million as a "milestone payment" after the fifth year which will
be paid by Cleco.(See: "HOW MUCH MONEY ARE WE GETTING FROM CLECO", " MAYOR
ROY'S ADMINISTRATIVE BRIEFING OF 3-3-2010 ON THE CLECO DEAL", "IS
4% TO 15% OF $9.5 MILLION AS GOOD AS 4% TO 15% OF OVER $50 MILLION?, and "A FURTHER EXPLAINATION OF OUR CLECO REBATES").

Maurice concluded his TV show by telling us about his lawsuit against Roosevelt Johnson that is set for a hearing next month. But that 2007 lawsuit isn't just against Roosevelt. It was against all of the Black Councilmen at the time. Maurice just released former Councilman Louis Marshall from the lawsuit last month. I have also heard, but not yet confirmed, that Maurice has added Councilman Ed Larvadain, III and Councilwoman Mitzi Gibson to that lawsuit for allegedly violating the City Charter.

I guess that Maurice's let's get along together speech he gave on the night of the hotel investigation or his collegiality were just lies. ("COLLEGIALITY ").

I wonder who is going to sue Maurice for his own violations of the Charter and law, such as he is supposed to be a full time mayor with no income from other sources, the requirement that he and his division heads attend the City Council meetings, that he was supposed to appoint a finance director and 3 replacements of his staff to the Alexandria Housing Authority, which are long overdue, allowing City Attorney Chuck Johnson to overspend his budget, his constant misuse of Channel 4, and the orders of the City Council to cease the persecution of Tiffany Sanders.

I am posting the unedited video just to show you that the incompetency of the Channel 4 operator still continues.

Back on July 10, 2010, the former Jacques Barack blog released his blog's statistics and dared Freddy Lamar White to do the same (See: "How Was Your Friday, Fetal Freddy?").

I then released mine that same day (See: "HERE ARE MY STATS FOR FRIDAY JULY 9, 2010 TOO FRED"). I too urged Freddy to release his, but to no avail.

Well today, Freddy Lamar White, the former political whore on Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy's
staff, left-wing liberal, just finished his first semester of law school, named
the best blogger in Cenla by a supporter of the mayor and where nobody else was
even considered, who doesn't believe in many of the teachings of Jesus Christ
but has a Religion and English degree, and thinks he is already a real lawyer even though he
just completed his first semester of law school, finally released his blog stats. Well sort of anyway.

Instead of simply releasing his numbers, Freddy posted a pontificated epistle (long winded) explanation of his numbers designed to mislead his readers. (See: "A Quick Note on CenLamar’s Readership and Hits").

First, Freddy confuses his readers by pointing out his page views compared to his actual unique visitors. Page views are usually much higher than the actual number of visitors to his blog. Secondly, Freddy doesn't tell us how much time a visitor spent on his blog. The time spent is important because that will show you how many got to his blog by mistake or didn't stay on it very long because they weren't interested.

What got Freddy's goat and led to him making this post, was because I called him a liar for making his absurd claim that he had more readers than Tony Brown's Eyes Open syndicated in a multi-state market radio talk show listeners. (See: "TONY
BROWN RIPS EM A NEW ONE ").

My page view counter was also not even started until some time ago, so it is far less than the actual page views.

Freddy's recent rash of posts against me only shows that I am doing my job. Unlike Freddy, I don't care if I have a single reader as long as I continue to tell the truth, speak my mind, get actively involved in this community, and back up what I write with facts, which few other bloggers do. But Freddy will use his language skills to promote his lies, his un-Godly stances on abortion, evolution and homosexuality, and left-wind democratic politics. I, also unlike Freddy, write on things of an interest to the Cenla, not on liberal national matters or issues close to the hearts of Freddy's liberal New Orleans readers.
appointed District 3 Councilman Jerry Jones since his date of appointment on
December 13, 2011.

That committee voted two to three, Councilmen Jim Villard and Chuck Fowler voting yes and Councilman Roosevelt Johnson voting no, to send the resolution to the full City Council. Believe it or not, the three pro-Alexandria Mayor Jacques Maurice Roy White councilmen voted for the resolution and Uncle Tom Councilman Jerry Jones voted for his own resolution.

See the video of those votes here:

Attorney Chuck Johnson told the Council that the ratifying of Jones acts wasn't really necessary but that he was proposing it out of an abundance of caution. But Council woman Mitzi Gibson proposed that the Council first seek an Attorney General's opinion of whether Councilman Jones actually took office when he was hand-picked by Mayor Roy on December 13, 2011 by his breaking the tie between the three White Councilmen and the three Black Council persons, or he became official on December 16, 2011 according to what had been told to Mrs. Gibson by an attorney with the Louisiana Secretary of State's office. That attorney told her that she should request an Attorney General's opinion.

The Council, however, decided to pass the resolution without requesting an Attorney General's opinion in a 4 to 3 vote, with the lap dogs voting for it and the three remaining Council members voting against it.

Without getting into the legality of when Councilman Jones' service upon the Council actually occurred, in my learned opinion, Mr, Jones violated Louisiana's ethics laws. Specifically, I believe that Jones violated LSA-R.S. 42:1116 which basically prohibits public employees and elected officials from using their position to their economic or political advantage. This vote could also have the effect of Mr. Jones getting paid for that December 13th meeting.

You will also recall that Mayor Roy was eager to have Mr. Jones seated upon the City Council on December 13th so that he could vote on Councilman Harry Silver's presidency, which he had the deciding vote, and on the mayor's Alexander Fulton Hotel plans. But the question arises on whether Silver could vote on Jones' appointment on December 13th or on his ratification yesterday due to it being rumored that Mr. Jones did business with Mr. Silver's haberdashery business and even had a charge account there.

Councilman Ed Larvadain, III asked whether Jones could even vote on his own resolution and Councilman Chuck Fowler said "certainly". Councilman Fowler should know because he himself faced ethics charges for his dealing with Cleco while serving upon the City Council. (See: "Chuck Fowler Ethics Opinion").

Our local so-called news media, KALB TV and the Clown Talk, blew an excellent opportunity to actually report some news to us on Alexandria Mayor Jacques Maurice Roy's State of the City Address on Monday. Instead of actually reporting the news to us, these media outlets simply regurgitated what Jacques told them.

Take a look at this transcript of Jacques' State of the City Address here:

Besides the mayor's wife Wendy and Mr. Caplan, who gets the City's uniforms business, just about all of the rest of those present for the Jacques' speech were his paid staff. Of course Jacques' lap dog Councilmen were also present.

"The state of the city is sound," he (Mayor Jacques) said, "In fact, very sound, despite the national economy and despite the obstruction of some". id. The obstruction of some means we that follow the affairs of our City, such as City Councilmen Roosevelt
Johnson and Ed Larvadain, III, Councilwoman Mitzi Gibson, Sandra Bright, Gail
Underwood, Lew Howard, Von Jennings, Jules Green, Steve Coco, myself and the 77%
of the voters who didn't vote for Jacques. What Jacques and apparently Bret do not understand is that this so-called obstruction is actually democracy at work. There is no law that requires every elected official or voter to always agree with Jacques and agree with everything he does. We can also be in favor of Alexandria but not Mayor Jacques. Jacques Roy is not the same thing as the City of Alexandria.

Jacques also told Bret that "Alexandria is a leader in fiscal policy, not a follower".

Alexandria City Attorney Chuck Johnson contacted Tony's staff to come on the show, and his staff gave him today's date. Chuck thereafter contacted the radio show yesterday afternoon and said that he would not be appearing.

Listen to Tony talking with Mrs. Sandra Bright followed up with the lies told at yesterday's State if the City Address of Alexandria Mayor Jacques M. Roy by Rev. Floyd Kirts.

EYES OPEN WITH SANDRA BRIGHT AND REV. KIRTS (26:26)

Then Tony had on Dr. Ernest Johnson, an attorney with the NAACP, who explained just how this contract provision and the City's denying a sorority the right to hold a voter registration drive violates the federal and state constitutions and laws.

Despite what some untrained and ignorant commenters say, you can hear Dr. Johnson tell us why that just because something is standard wording or already is a law doesn't preclude its being overturned by a court of law. In fact, the case law books are filled with such examples.

Just as a reminder, the City of Natchitoches and the Town of Jena recently had some of their laws which denied people their constitutional rights stricken down by U.S. Western District of Louisiana Judge Dee Drell.

DR. JOHNSON (15:03)

Finally, listen to this discussion held on KSYL radio's Talk Back Pre-Show this morning on Mrs. Bright's contract with the City and its legal ramifications.

KSYL ON THE CONTRACT (5:06)

Alexandria Mayor Jacques Maurice Roy held his State of the City Address for the City of Alexandria, Louisiana today.

The video below is unedited to show you just how utterly incompetent the operator of Channel 4 is. As usual, Jacques also started this TV production several minutes late. He also took this as an opportunity to give his pre-City Council agenda speech, not to be confused with his Wednesday after the Council meeting TV show. Unless you were one of Jacques' lackeys who were in attendance today or you were looking at an agenda for tomorrow, Jacques' only mentioning agenda item numbers probably left you scratching your heads trying to understand what he was talking about.

Of course Jacques didn't cover the two items of the most interest from tomorrow's agenda. The first one was the ratification of all acts done by District 3 Councilman Jerry Jones since December 13, 2012, and Jacques plan to throw more of our money down the bottomless pit known as the Alexander Fulton Hotel.

STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS

Jacques started off his State of the City Address by thanking his family, which I am not sure has anything to do with the state of the City.

Next, Jacques went on to thank some of the ministers of Alexandria's largest churches while saying nothing about the vast more minsters of the other churches in town.

Throughout his address, Jacques was highly critical of his detractors. We that follow the affairs of our City, such as City Councilmen Roosevelt Johnson and Ed Larvadain, III, Councilwoman Mitzi Gibson, Sandra Bright, Gail Underwood, Lew Howard, Von Jennings, Jules Green, Steve Coco, myself and the 77% of the voters who didn't vote for Jacques in the last mayoral election are among these detractors. Jacques simply doesn't understand that his detractors have a different vision for the future of Alexandria. That is called democracy.

Jacques also claimed that he doesn't attack Council members personally, but that is disputed by the video of Jacques in "THE RANTS OF JACQUES ROY".

Jacques also bragged about what a fine job Chief of Police Loren Lampert, our highest paid police chief in history, is doing. What I would like to see from Loren is for him to go point by point over the exact proposals the Canadian's SafeAlex plan and the IACP proposals that he instituted.

He also told us what a good job City Attorney Chuck Johnson did this past year. I guess that Jacques forgot about Chuck's going over his legal budget, or the lawsuits on the levees, Tiffany Sanders or Tommy Davenport's legal fees that were all lost in court. And keep in mind the millions of our dollars that are owed to E.M.S. and to Brown, Sharp and Davidson for their contingency fees from the Cleco fraud case.

Speaking of Cleco, the City still has not seen a resolution of the Armested Franklin case or any of the rebates or future rate savings that Jacques promised us.

Jacques went on to brag about his CRAPS (SPARC) plans for the City. CRAPS has not yet produced a single job or business for Alexandria as was promised. The only quality of life that has been improved by CRAPS is the dressing up of the zoo, the new sidewalk in front of the porno book store and City Councilman Chuck Fowler's print shop, and a few non-maintained parks as a bribe to the Black Council persons.

Jacques successfully implanted some multi-family dwellings on a group of nearby residents that didn't want them, but failed on two other attempts.

Jacques reading and comprehension was also impaired this past year in that he failed to appoint a finance director for the City and to appoint some other board members to the Alexandria Housing Authority Board other than the three members of his staff within the time allowed by law, failed to have his department heads or himself at the City Council meetings, and to be a full time mayor when he in facts holds several other jobs.

Our City had even more audit write ups last year than it has had in previous years, with some of those being carry overs from past years.

Lastly, Jacques told us that the City's financial status was very good, with us having increased our surplus to around $17 million. Of course Jacques hasn't given our hard working city employees a raise in several years.

You will hear Jacques tooting the members of his staff and himself for all of his accomplishment reported on in the address, but he forgot to mention the ones that were responsible for the advances. Us taxpayers.
