Surnames in David Morgan's Civil War pension file

My next pension file is for David Morgan, my 3rd great-granfather. This is another large file. David Morgan was married twice. His much younger second wife, Catherine Ware Kincaid gave birth to a daughter just a few months before David died at age 78. Because a minor child was involved, there are many forms related to the guardianship of Seyo Gordy Morgan.

H. B. Morgan, age 40, Buckhannon, Upshur Co., West Virginia, 21 Aug 1891. I belive this H.B. Morgan was David Morgan's nephew.

Almeria Cutrright, age 42, Helvetia, Randolph Co., West Virginia. 1 Oct 1889. I feel certain that this is Almira Ware Cutright, Catherine's sister. She married Joel P. Cutright in 1869. (2 pages)

Catherine Simons, age 30, Hinkleville, Upshur Co., West Virginia, 21 Aug 1891. This is David's widow, Catherine Ware Kincaid Morgan Simons. Catherine married Job Simons in 1886.

Dexter S. Cutright, age 39, Randolph Co., West Virginia, 4 June 1892.

Job Simons, age 56, Hinkleville, Upshur Co., West Virginia, 23 Jun 1892. This is Catherine's 3rd husband. Job was guardian of Catherine's daughter Seyo G. Morgan for a time. He was replaced by court order with David Crockett Morgan.

Today's featured pension file is that of Charles Morgan and his widow Octavius/Octavia Lemmons Vangilder Morgan. Charles served as First Lieutenant for Company B, 10th West Virginia Infantry. Charles' father, David Morgan was Captain of Company B. Charles and Octavia are my 2nd great-grandparents.

Unfortunately for the Lemmons family, the claim for disability was denied. Jesse Lemmons' service was as a Private in Battery "E", West Virginia Light Artillery.

Following the example of Cinnamon at (Mis) Adventures of a Genealogist, I will be doing a series of posts about the Civil War pension files that I have collected for my ancestors. This will be a slow series--I have lots of files to read through again.

The first pension file is a small one. Granville H. Cutright was my maternal 2nd Great Grandfather. He served as a private in Co. E, 6th West Virginia Infantry. His widow, Elizabeth Jane Beer Cutright filed for a pension after his death.
