It doesn’t take a lot to incorporate Valentine’s Day into your meal plan. Just a few simple tweaks and your everyday meals look like they were made especially for Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.

Breakfast

Use a cookie cutter or knife and cut a heart shape out of a piece of bread to jazz up your everyday breakfast. Cook an egg in the middle and create Valentine’s Day Eggs in a Basket. Serve it along side some heart shaped strawberries and you’ve shown your Valentine just how much they mean to you, and it’s only breakfast!

Ahhh, dessert. Who doesn’t love dessert? Last year I made strawberry lemonade cookies that were to.die.for and I might still make them again this year. But for dessert after the steak dinner I plan on making, I can’t wait to try this yummy looking pink lemonade pound cake.

Hummus has quickly become a favorite snack around here.  At first I was hesitant to even try it.  I mean really, with a name like Hummus?  But I’m glad I did!

However, hummus can get expensive, especially for this family of 6.  Thankfully hummus is easy as ever to make–and it whips up in a snap.  For a fraction of the cost of store bought!  The other benefit to homemade hummus?  You can customize the flavors to your family’s liking!

Homemade Hummus makes a great after school snack, appetizer, or as a side with lunch.  Who am I kidding?  It makes a great lunch!

As a generalized statement, we never get sick.  I can count of both of my hands the amount of times I cleaned up pure sickness.  I’m very thankful for that!

All of that was before last week!  The 24-hour bug ran through almost all of us, one person at a time.  Including myself! I’m so sick of doing laundry–but it’s a new week and time for me to get started again. Eek!

After a bought of sickness like my family has just seen, I have a strong desire to disinfect my entire home.  But those commercial cleaners?  Ew!  Their smells are overbearing and the chemicals are damaging.

I’ve seen a few different combinations of homemade disinfectant.  Although, one always sticks out to me, mostly because of it’s simplicity.

I absolutely fell in love with Oil Rubbed Bronze Spray Paint last year after redo-ing my old metal dresser. Remember it?

I don’t know why I spaced it at the time, but all along I’ve had the mirror that once belonged this dresser hanging up in my laundry room. The past few weeks we’ve frantically been finishing up last minute details of Project MAD so we can finalize our home loan and get a lower rate.

My fridge is usually covered from top to bottom with my children’s artwork or school papers. Instead of letting your child take over the outside of the fridge, give them their own magnet to display their awesome works. Use the magnet to hold their awesome schoolwork and beautiful masterpieces ~ making sure to change them out with new masterpieces every now and then.

Display your child's art and schoolwork using a large magnet just for them.

Create a magnet showing your child’s school schedule, you will always know what class your child has on what day. Leave the schedule part blank and use your trusty dry erase marker to write it in. Reuse it every year! Or, if your child’s school is like mine, the schedule is never the same each week. The special classes {library, art, music, etc.} rotate and are on different days each time. { Instead of a school schedule, this idea could also work for your child’s extra-curricular activites!}

Always know what class or activity your child has on what day. Great for extra-curricular schedules too.
