<description>There&amp;#8217;s more to networking than just finding prospects. A great business is based off of a large, supportive community comprised of several types of people. Your community should include:

Prospects/clients
Teachers/coaches/mentors
Referral sources
Partners/potential partners
People supporting you in the growth of your business

Take a look at the people currently in your community. Who is missing? Who should be in [...]&lt;br/&gt;

<itunes:summary>I hate selling! Ok, hate is a really strong word. I dislike selling. I really don't like when someone blatantly sells something to me. I find it annoying and rude. I know that people are out there trying to run a business. I get that. I have been running businesses myself for over 15 years. Sometimes it's tough to get the clients you need.

The trick I have learned is that you don't want to sell. You want to build relationships. There are many different ways to build relationships. You can network, you can ask for referrals and word-of-mouth, you can use social media.

I want to tell you a story. A few years back I was on the Board of Directors for a local organization called Independent Computer Consultants Association. I was in charge of putting together a monthly newsletter for the group. The quality of this newsletter was so great that it won "Best Chapter Newsletter" for the best newsletter put out by that organziation from the whole country. The other members of the board recognized this quality and even mentioned in a meeting, "When someone does a great job when they are doing volunteer work, then just imagine how good they are when they are getting paid!" I got quite a few projects through referrals from that board of directors. By working with them even on a volunteer basis, they got to know me and what I had to offer. They don't hesitate to refer me to someone in need of my services.

Watch this video to hear a story of being on the flip side of a relationship, or lack there of...

<itunes:summary>Starting a business can be broken down into steps. Over the past 15 years, I have studied entrepreneurs from different types of service businesses. I have compared those who are successful with those who are just getting by. Is there a difference between the two? You bet!

What I have learned over the years is that there are as many different ways to start a business as there are types of businesses. But knowing this doesn't help you get your business started.

I asked myself if there was a common pattern amongst many successful entrepreneurs, and I noticed that there is a distinct pattern. I took that pattern and turned it into my 5 Step Business Success Formula.

I then asked you what you were looking for from a mentor, and you responded that you would like a step-by-step approach to getting started. You want to learn from someone who says, "do this, then do this."

Watch this video for an overview of the 5 most important steps that every successful entrepreneur follows when they start a new business venture.

Do you want to download the audio for your mp3 player?

I'm in the process of developing a workshop that will take these 5 steps and break them down into a very defined process of starting a business. What would you need from this workshop to feel it would be worth your while?

<itunes:summary>If your business isn't doing as well as you think it should, it's a good time to take a look at what you are doing. When a business is failing there are usually only three things going on. Either your services and products are not lined up with what your market is looking for, you are sending out the wrong message to your audience, or you are not marketing enough and in all the right places to get the exposure you need.

Here's a quick video that will help you to realize what you need to do. To quit and move on, or to take the leap to give it your all and make the required changes.

<itunes:summary>Have you ever thought to tap into the power of partnerships to build your business? What about to get a business started and off the ground running?

Whenever I partner with someone on a project, or swap ads and exposure, or barter services, it always ends up being a win-win situation. I get more sign-ups to my email list when the person is coming from a referral than I do from any other source.

Partnerships create referrals, and referrals are word-of-mouth and word-of-mouth can create immediate trust. Trust is so important to sales. Get the picture?

I decided to do something a little different today. I interviewed a special guest. My guest has created a partnership with another mompreneur to create a project that supports other mompreneurs. As you know, I love to support moms who are supporting other moms. We moms have to stick together in this world, if we want to become a success and stay sane.

This partnership project is a contest like you haven't seen before. Honest... I know people tend to say that on the internet when it isn't true, but this is true. There are hundreds of products being donated to this contest.

The top 3 winners will receive thousands of dollars worth of media exposure for their business from media sponsors as well as gifts, services and bonuses from other contest sponsors.

I interveiwed her to not only mention the Baby Business Shower and how you can enter, but to also talk a little about creating partnerships for your business. Since this contest was a partnership, I wanted her insight into how others could create partnerships to start or grow their business.

If learning more about partnerships is something you are interested in, let me know. If there is interest, I will put some content together. You can leave a comment here, or you can send an email using the contact form.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Anyone can come up with a business idea, but how do you know if that idea is the right one for you? Sometimes mom entrepreneurs just know that the business they are starting is the right one for them, but most times this is not the case. Most budding entrepreneurs are unclear of what road their business should go down.

From what I see many moms get an idea of what their business is going to be, but then as they are starting, they become unsure if the idea they chose is right for them. They become uncertain and second guess their decisions.

How do you know if you are choosing the right idea? How do you know that your business is heading down the right path?

The answer is buried inside of you.
