Pretty much obsessed with these leather overalls that were designed by my good friend Thuy! She is so insanely talented and I couldnt be more estatic when she arrived from London with a suitcase filled with all of her new stuff. Hosting her was ridiculousy fun but getting to wear all of her designs...just an amazing bonus. I'm sure you will see some more of her stuff on her in the next little bit

You will also see a new blog look on here! My new site will be launched on Monday and I couldn't be more excited. I always like making changes in the fall so it's a perfect time for this to happen. Can't wait to share!

HALLOWEEN INSPIRATION

Last Halloween was not only my favourite Halloween of all time but it was also my favourite NIGHT of all time. I had SOOO much fun that everytime I think about the night I could honestly cry.

My friend and I decided to be the "Sun and the Moon" and definitely got into character. We began our night in the moonlight at the Hollwood Forever Cemerty ( which as creepy as it sounds is one of my favourite places in LA) and ended our night as the sun was coming up.

The bash was hosted by Adam Levine and included open bar, Patron Toss, In N Out Food trucks (you know where I was at 3AM), Tom Yorke DJ'ing, bumper cars, photobooths and an obscene amount of celebrities to lurk on.

We made our costumes a few weeks before and got all out of items from Santee Alley ( a cheap market in downtown LA!). I made my headband out of styrofoam pieces, painted them gold and glue-gunned it to my metal band.

I am very excited about Halloween again this year, even though I know it won't compare! Ugh.

Northern Paradise

For starters, I just want to apologize for the lack of posts over the last two weeks. I am working on switching over to Wordpress and giving my blog a face lift while doing so and there has been a bit of a delay on the switch over!

Secondly, I had a friend visiting from Europe for two weeks so have been busy hosting her and showing her around Toronto and the vicinity! One of her main requests during her visit was being able to go to Muskoka. At one point during dinner a few days before taking off I caught her on her Instagram smiling and I asked her what she was doing. "Oh nothing " she replied with a smirk. After taking a further look at her phone, I saw that she had hashtagged "Muskoka" and was looking at all the photos that had come up. Excited was an understatement! Although we got rained on, it was still a fun two days taking in the numerous fall colours, eating a delicious meal, playing old school board games, sipping on wine (a lot of it), taking the canoe out when the rain subsided and feeling peaceful after a few busy days in the city.

No Dough Pizza

Pizza, to me, is essential in life/considered a food group. In the summertime, my family and I (fine- just my mom) make homemade pizzas every Sunday and it is my favorite part of the summer. Paired with a glass of Merlot or Malbec, that my friends, is my definition of bliss.

As much as I would love to eat Pizza everyday, I am not one of those girls that can eat whatever she wants and not feel/see the consequences. When I saw all the hype surrounding Cauliflower Pizza, I decided I HAD to try it out!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-2 heads of cauliflower

-A few dahes of Oregano

-1 few dashes of Parmesan Cheese

-Slices of Cheese ( I used mozzarella)

-1 cup of Tomato Sauce ( I made fresh tomato sauce!)

-2 Eggs

-1 tablespoon of Quinoa Flour

-2 Tomatoes

-Cut up Chorizio

-1/4 of an Onion

-1 tablespoon of Garlic Powder

-A few dashes of Salt & Pepper

-1 tablespoon of Chia Seeds

*You can use any toppings you want, I just decided on Tomatoes, Cheese and Chorizio

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Chop up your cauliflower into small pieces and place it in a blender! I used a magic bullet so had to do little bits at a time. I also added a few drops of water to get things moving. Blend until it is pureed.

3. Place the pureed cauliflower mixture onto a plate and place paper towels over it to get rid of the excess water from the cauliflower. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! ( I went through a lot of paper towels!)

4. Let the cauliflower sit with the paper towels over it for about a half hour

5. Discard any left over cauliflower liquid by turning the plate upside down with the paper towel on top of it

6. Move the purree mix into a large bowl, add the eggs, a few dashes of oregano, salt and pepper, garlic powder, some Parmesan the Quinoa flour and the Chia seeds ( the Chia seeds are necessary but I found that they helped to thicken the dough)

7. Mix together until it is blended in

8. Spread the “dough” into either 1 large pizza shape or 2 small pizza rounds on a lightly greased (coconut oil) pizza pan

9. Do not spread the “dough” too thin as the moisture will cause it the crack.

10. Put in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Once you see the top turning a bit of a golden colour, you can take it out!

11. Remove the crust from the oven and let it sit for about 10 minutes.

12. Add all of your favourite toppings! In my case, tomatoes, mozzarella, chorizio!

13. Place the pizzas back into the oven for another 15 minutes! During the last few minutes, change your oven settings to BROIL to make sure the top is thoroughly cooked.

14. EAT UP!!!!

If I had to pick my favourite drive in the entire world, it would be this one. I didn't think it was possible to fall more in love with California but then we took a road trip from Los Angeles all the way to San Francisco stopping in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Big Sur, Carmel, and Santa Cruz. I fell head over heels in love and if anyone is dabbling with the idea of doing this drive- I could literally not recommend it enough!

Big Sur alone is a magical place that fills you with serenity and peace. It's no surprise that many artists escape here to get their creative juices flowing! Other favourite stops along the way included The Madonna Inn (weirdest and best place ever- I felt like I was trapped in a 60's horror film but in a good way), Julie Prrfeer bridge and the Santa Cruz boardwalk.

Oh hi! Just some photos of me wearing the WORLD'S most comfortable sweater. Also known as the sweater that I will be wearing around my house, to work, to grab groceries in, and to have fun in!

I recently got this item from Stork and Babe, a new collection launched from Thyme Maternity! While I am NOT pregnant (let's be clear), I went to a launch for the new collection a few weeks back and fell in love with so many of the items. So great for fashion forward woman who are expecting (very Rag and Bone meets Alexander Wang) but also great for those not expecting that just want to eat a lot ( Thanksgiving is coming up- just saying).

Tumeric Facemask

I had a life changing experience with a facialist and dermatologist in LA. Skin people in LA are either pro-botox and injections or are pro "you can cure your skin with mud from the sacred earth". Thankfully, Terri Lawton, who I saw in LA, was all about the natural way to heal and help the skin.

After my time with her (I still get some products from her and joke that she's my homegirl to friends), I turned to herb and oil concoctions . This mask is one of them.

The powerful base of this mask is Tumeric which has over 3892 benefits and is the most healing herb to date (actually). Not only does it prevent cancer but it helps with inflammation (zits), redness, and promotes anti aging. Indian woman make this type of mask before their wedding day to make their skin GLOWS!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-1/2 cup of Yogurt (any type of yogurt is fine, I used Greek)

-1 teaspoon of coconut oil

-1 tablespoon of flour (again- any flour is fine..I used Quinoa)

-1 1/2 tablespoons of Tumeric.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Get all of your ingredients out and measure accordingly.

2. Mix them all together in a small bowl

3. Place in the fridge for 20 minutes (having the product cold is so key and feels AMAZING)

4. Lather on the face and leave on for 20 minutes.

5. Add Cucumbers for the full facial affect

Note: Tumeric STAINS! Make sure to be very careful with it while washing it off. My Ryan Gosling dishtowel now has a yellow mark on Ryan's chest. Thank god Ryan looks good with anything on him.

My life is all about balance. I absolutely love to eat and indulge but at the same time love to be healthy and work out. When life gets really busy and my social engagements pile up one after the other, I always take the time after things slow down to recharge. Since adding in all of these 5 things below into my life every few months, I seriously have not got sick in 2 years (knock on wood).

JUICE CLEANSE. Love them or hate them, incorporating juices into your life is extremely beneficial. You feel lighter, more energized and personally, my skin is always appreciative. It is important to load up on the veggie based juices as they contain the least amount of sugar! nekter juices are one of the main reasons I fell in love with juice while I lived in LA. Not only do they have great cleanses but they also have cocktail mixes for when you are ready to RE-toxt. Down!

ASIAN FACE MASKS. My obsession is not ok. Yes, you look like Jason from Friday the 13th when you wear one of them but not only does it leave you with baby-like skin, it also makes you feel like you just left the spa.

WORK IT OUT. I'm not talking about doing a Soul Cycle class where you will get murdered. When you start off your detox, do something light like yoga. You don't want to shock your body. My favourite work out stuff is from O'Neill. It is the most stylish gear and keeps me looking somewhat decent as I huff and puff my way through my downward dogs. Seriously love their 365 hybrid line! It also is always great to treat yourself to a piece of new work out gear...it makes you more motivated to move and be fit.

STEAM OR GO TO A INFRARED SAUNA! While it is great to be put amazing nutrients in your system, it is equally important to allow the bad toxins to exit the body. If you live in LA, try out The Sweat Shop or any of the 24 hour Korean Spas. If you live in Southern Ontario, there is a new place in Oakville called the Salt Cave or in Toronto, you can go to Body Blitz and get yourself a day pass. The great part about steaming is that you sweat without having to move. My inner lazy girl's dream! So amazing for your skin too.

HERBS + WATER. Not really anything new but start your day with a glass of warm lemon water. Take a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar to alkalize your body. From there you can try out an Ayurvedic herb called Triphala. It helps with colon function and scraps the toxins out of the intestines naturally., You can get the liquid drops and just add them into your juices.

And think it goes without saying but limiting your alcohol and coffee while you are balancing it out is also so great! The first few days will be hard but you will feel amazing after a week!

So after visiting the Hearst Castle, I immediately decided what I would be doing if I won the lottery. Jesus! The place is incredible.

I went for the first time when I did a road trip up the coast to San Francisco and went the second time with some friends visiting from Canada. We had an amazing time taking in the architecture and grounds but the best part of our entire time there was seeing random Zebras on the side of the road. The Hearst Castle used to have it's very own zoo and instead of selling the animals, Mr. Hearst just let them escape. To this day you can sometimes see some pretty unique creatures just roaming freely along the highway. Naturally after spotting a zebra, we got out of the car, climbed a barb wire fence and tried to chase them down.

So fun!

Absolutely love these cat ears that I borrowed from my friend. Is there really anything greater than sporting headgear at a music festival? Sadly though, one of my ears fell off a few hours into the festival and I morphed from a cat into a unicorn. Not a bad transition by any means but I was definitely getting a few (weird) stares.

Also love this little frock from Brandy. So breezy and comfy for dancing and skipping through the park!

Cauliflower Rice

You know how Frank's Hot Sauce has the tag line "I put that shit on everything". Well Tamari Sauce is my version of Frank's. I seriously put it on EVERYTHING and this Sushi Cauliflower Bowl is no exemption. I came across "cauliflower sushi" in LA (obviously) and decided to try out a version of it that was a little less complicated.

What you will need (Serves 2):

•1 head of Cauliflower

•1 Avocado

•1 onion

•2 carrots

•4 tablespoons of Tamari Sauce

•Nori Krinkles

•Salt to taste

Instructions:

1. Start with the "rice"- Shred your cauliflower as fine as possible...so small that it looks like "rice". I could have done this much better but I was in a rush.You can use a food processor if you have one which would definitely help speed things up.

2. Lather up your pan with Coconut Oil and place your stove on Low Heat

3. Chop up your onion and carrots into tiny, little pieces and place it into the frying pan along with the cauliflower "rice".

4. Let everything blend together and cook until it looks ready

5. Remove from the heat and let it sit until it's mild

6. Add in chopped Avocado, Tamari sauce and some salt.

7. Lastly, add in your crushed Nori Flakes (a handful)

My girlfriends and I had the BEST time over the long weekend at the Made in America Music Festival in Philadelphia. So much fun that I came home with a pulled foot muscle and many of us had unexplainable bruises (perhaps the airplane lift pictured above can explain a bit of it). Although it was no Coachella, it was definitely a weekend filled with a lot of memory making and soo many laughs. I am so thankful to have these weirdos in my life!

Besides the fun times, my favourite thing of the entire weekend was seeing BEYONCE perform in flesh. She made the entire thing worth it and made me pretty confident that she doesn't reside on planet earth. There is just no way somebody is that insanely talented. Her and Jay Z probably met on Mars and were like "Let's go cause a ruckus on Planet Earth". Mission Accomplished, freaks.

I spent the entire night being like "BEY-SUS" "BOW DOWN TO B", "QUEEN B FOREVER"....and naturally had somebody rhinestone my arm with a "B".

Bought this dress years ago in both black and red and it has come in handy so many times! I am absolutely in love with the pleats at the front and love the baby doll shape of it- so perfect for work with a blazer or with nylons in the winter or for when you want to eat a lot or...ALWAYS.

Thank you Jacob for creating one of my favourite wardrobe pieces! I also love this necklace...I borrowed it from a friend of mine in LA and "accidentally" brought it back to Canada with me and....damn- the downside of having a blog. Sorry Sarah!

The girl from Ipanema

Ahhhh Brazil! The moment I landed, I knew I was going to like it there.

The streets of Rio De Janiero were buzzing with excitement and you could feel the infectious energy even from the inside of the car--people drinking beer on every street corner, juice stands every few blocks and a very cool beach scene!

We spent 5 nights in Rio, 2 nights in a small beach side town in Buzios and then one last night in Rio! Highlights include: sipping on Caipirinha's ( traditional Brazilian cocktails), accidentally booking a hotel in the Favela (but liking it!), hang gliding off a cliff and landing on the beach ( no big deal), meeting up with an old roommate from NYC, trying the best coconut water I have ever tasted, eating "chicken hearts" (actually), learning to say cheers in Portuguese (chi chi!), spending a night with some locals (in their favela home- sorry mom), and taking in as much as the culture as I could.

I can't wait to go back when I have more time to see other parts of the country....perhaps during Carnival ;)!

Father of the Bride

This is a little throwback to a wedding I worked at while living in LA for bride Annie Meyers, daughter to director Nancy Meyers. If Nancy's name doesn't bring a bell- think of some favourite romantic comedies like The Holiday, It's Complicated and Father of the Bride. Yup- she wrote and directed them all! I don't know about you but I LOVED the set design on all 3 of those films so I was not surprised that both Nancy and her daughter Annie had quite the vision for Annie's big day.

The wedding took place at Nancy's house in the Pacific Palisades (which was a replica design of the It's Complicated house) and was perfect. I loved how they played on all of the natural settings around them and turned that into it's own decor ( and when the natural surroundings needed a lift, we got fake tree branches and sewed them into the trees to amplify it!). Martha Stewart's team came and shot the whole thing for the magazine which was also really cool to see!

Malaysia was the beginning of the first big epic trip that I took. Not only was this my first taste of Asia, it was also my first (and last! ha) time backpacking. I didn't hate backpacking but I felt it was a one time thing, you know?

I will never forget being scared shit less boarding the plane- knowing I was flying across the world to a place that was so very different than anything I have ever experienced. I am so thankful I put my fear aside and made the leap. They say "Once you travel, the voyage never ends" and this was the trip that ignited my passion for travelling. I definitely traveled before this trip but kept it safe and close- Caribbean, NYC, California...not to a country where there were squat toilets, soda in bags and monkeys that roamed freely. I was constantly in awe of the things around me.

We landed in Kuala Lampur which turned out to be a MODERN city and an amazing transition into my journey. There were Coffee Beans AND Topshops..REALLY! I was floored. We saw the Petrona Towers, explored the local markets and then made our way through various small towns until we reached the north of the country. From there we went to the Perenthian Islands- an idyllic piece of land that made me want to become a full time hippie. It wasn't real. We did nothing there but read and veg out.

We ended our Malaysian journey in Borneo where we decided to climb a mountain. It was an aggressive two day trek that I definitely didn't finish. After a day and a half, I threw in the towel and decided that I won't be climbing Kilimanjaro anytime soon.

I can't wait to go back to this beautiful country one day!

I don't think there is a week that goes by that I don't wear this necklace. I bought it in San Francisco years ago and debated buying it because it was $70 dollars ( and I was broke and I'm also sometimes cheap). I remember walking out of the store without it and my first thought within second was "Wait...what am I doing? That necklace is everything" and back I went into the store to make the purchase.

So glad I did!

Mountain Top Outfit- Orange Skirt: Zara, Top: BCBG, Jacket: Forever 21, Necklace: Zara

British Columbia was phenomenal. To me, it seemed like a picture perfect postcard of everything that Canada represents....but oddly enough, at the same time made me feel like I was somewhere far, far away. That could be because at one point I was somewhere UP, up and away. One of our nights in Whistler included a delicious farm to table dinner set in the mountains. We took the Gondola up and climbed high above the clouds taking in the most breath taking views. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Whistler!

We made our way from Whistler to Vancouver and I really wasn't too surprised that I loved it so much. The laid back vibe, the mountain views, the fresh air, the cleanliness and the beaches were enough to make me consider moving there. It was my first time there and definitely not my last. We spent our time biking along the seawall ( beginning and Stanley Park) all the way to Kits beach, stopping for fish tacos at The Local, exploring Gas town ( can every street have cobblestone?) and laying outside at the most gorgeous public pool.

Mink Pink's LA LA LAND

I become extremely nostalgic when I see California related things. From a scene in a movie to a song, it makes my heart flutter when there is a California shout out involved. When I came across the shoot for Mink Pink's new "LA LA LAND" campaign...well I just about wanted to pack up my things, trade in my wheels for a skateboard and move back to Venice Beach ( I'm scared for when winter hits here in Toronto- yikes!)

The new collection was inspired by "tumblr tribes, surf punk and acid-house fun" which basically translates to "SIGN ME UP" in my vocabulary. Mink Pink is a line that I have been obsessed with for years and this campaign tilts the obsession into the scary zone. You can see the rest of the images below and see what I mean. If you asked me to pick my favourite colour when I was growing up, I would never say Pink. I was never one of those girls-it was either "Dark Purple or Black". Can you say Emo?

Over the last few years though, the colour has grown on me and I love to incorporate it into my wardrobe here and there. I saw this little dress at Winner's a few weeks ago and couldn't help but grab it!

Wanderlust Love

Wanderlust, the 4 day travelling yoga festival, was in one word a: dream.

I was lucky enough to attend the Whistler festival this past weekend ( they hold festivals across the US and Canada) and got to share an amazing experience with hundreds of other yogis. We gathered together in the sacred place that is Whistler and downward dogged our way to a high state of bliss.

If the festival had a recipe it would have included a cup of nourishing the body, mind and soul through yoga, a spoonful of live music, a dash of amazing farm to table food, and a sprinkle of positive community. Whether it was the violinist leading a power flow class, or singing together in Warrior 1, it brought us all together in these moments and created a powerful connection between us all. As a new yoga instructor, I felt very inspired.

Aside from taking part in some the most rewarding yoga classes (led by some of the best yoga teachers in the country no less), we were encouraged to hike and meditate in the trails that surrounded us. Adding this element to an already magical experience, gave me such a sense of gratitude. I felt thankful for not only this experience, but for life and everything it has to offer. Life is so beautiful when you are able to slow down and re-connect to yourself ( I am fully aware how cheesy this sounds but it is true!)

One of my favourite classes was led by Kerri Kelly and Suzanne Sterling and took place on a mountain top. I took the gondoloa up early Saturday morning and felt the positivity the minute I laid down my mat. I was literally on higher ground at 3,000 feet! Even though I was hella sore from the day before, I got a new wave of energy once the class had begun.

The teachers, who also work at the organization Off the Mat, shared a favourite line with us that hit a chord in me and made me get "yoga high" within minutes. She said "Let the beauty you love, be what you do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground" which is a quote from Rumi. They encouraged us to take the gratitude and love we feel during practise off the mat into the world (which ultimately is the basis of their organization- LOVE).

All in all, there is literally something for everyone at a festival like this. It is not a granola festival for people who only eat raw food and wear clothes made of hemp (although there is some of that and I totally bought a shirt made of bamboo tree-HA)! My friend who has only dabbled in yoga here and there before this, truly felt the benefits of the practise and is now fully on board to start it regularly.

The only bad part of the whole experience was realizing they have another festival in Mont Tremblant later this month and another one next year in Hawaii-I seriously started looking up plane tickets! Yikes!

Although I won't be able to go again anytime soon, I know that I will never forget it and I will forsure be going to the next one I can swing!
