Patton Spring Tryouts

Attention Boy's Lacrosse Players. This is a reminder that ALL 7th graders and first year 8th graders should be reporting for practice on Monday, March 12. Please report directly to the locker room after school and the coaches will meet you there.

Softball tryouts begin Monday, March 12 for PITCHERS and CATCHERS only and will run until 4 PM. Tryouts for all players with last names A-K will be Tuesday, March 13 (indoors)

Players with last names L-Z will be another day this week dependent on weather and gym availability. We will be holding additional tryouts, hopefully with the full squad and outside!!

Patton Nights at UHS Basketball

Come out and cheer on UHS Basketball at these two great Patton Night events!!

Patton Night at UHS Boys Basketball is Friday, January 26th at 7pm at UHS. All Patton students and faculty are admitted to the game for free. Bring $1 and participate in the half court shooting contest at half-time. There will be a designated Patton student section in the gym. UHS will be playing Shanahan, so come support Unionville Basketball and make a lot of noise!

Tuesday, January 30th, is Patton Night at Unionville High School as the Lady Indians take on Rustin. All Patton students with a Patton t-shirt or valid student ID will receive FREE admission and a FREE slice of pizza (While Supplies Last – Get there before the start of the games!) JV tips off at 6 p.m. Varsity tips off at 7:15 p.m.

Used Sports Equipment Sale!

The 5th Annual Used (Gently) Sports Equipment Sale benefitting the UHS Baseball will take
place on Saturday Feb 24th in the auxillary gym. Until then, we are NOW seeking gently used
equipment donations for any and all sports/ recreation activities. From baseball and field
hockey to lacrosse and ice hockey.

There are three way to donate:

We will accept donations on Friday, Oct 27 at the UHS football game. Look for us outside of the gates near the ticket booth. Drop your donations on the way to the game or drive by and we can take donations right from your car.
Drop boxes located in each school lobby, the week of Thanksgiving.

Updates for 2017 Football Season

All PIAA physicals, dated after June 1, 2017, are due to the main office by Monday, August 14. If you need to get a copy of the PIAA physical form you may download it from the Patton Athletics web page or pick up a hard copy in the Patton main office.
Copies of the Patton Football packet can be picked up in the Patton main office, if you did not get a packet before the end of the 2016-17 school year.
Football practice for the 2017 season begins on Tuesday, August 22, from 2:45-5:00. Please meet in the middle school gymnasium, with any required forms.
Practice the first week of school will be Tuesday, August 22 - Thursday, August 24. There will be a short parent meeting following practice on Thursday, August 24.

Fall Physicals Due 8/14

Attention Parents of Rising 7th and 8th Grade Athletes: This is a reminder that Physicals for Fall Sports are due to the Main Office by 8/14/17. Each athlete is required to have a current physical that is documented on the PIAA's Comprehensive Interscholastic Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE) form prior to trying out for a sport. The form was handed out at the sports' meetings in June and for your convenience, a copy has been attached to this email. It is also available on the PIAA website, but the form there includes extra pages you do not need at this time. Only the first 6 pages need to be turned in, the other 3 pages are irrelevant for Fall sports. Please be sure you have the most current version of the form, which is dated 3/27/2017 and that when your physician completes the form, it is dated after 6/1/2017. A physician is allowed to authorize a previous current physical, but they must put the date they sign the form, not the date of the physical itself if the physical was conducted prior to 6/1/2017. The early due date is designed to allow time to review all paperwork and identify errors or issues that may interfere with your child's ability to tryout for their sport. Forms can be turned in to the Main Office throughout the summer. The Main Office is open Monday - Thursday from 7:30-3:30. We understand some people will not be able to turn the form in by 8/14 due to various reasons. If there is a problem turning the physical in by that date, please email Mrs. Walsh-Shell at kwalsh-shell@ucfsd.net.

ImPACT Testing for Fall

We will be conducting ImPACT Testing for 6th and 8th grade students who are interested in playing sports in 7th and 9th grades. This testing will be conducted during PE starting on June 5th. Your child will receive a permission slip for this testing during PE starting on May 25th. They will receive the slip the first day that they have PE and, if you are interested in your child taking this test, we request the slip be returned the following day during PE (they have PE 2 consecutive days a cycle). Your child will not be allowed to take the test without permission. We will accept the slip until the day of their testing, but for the sake of organization we like to have the slip in advance. Patton Sports Meeting

There will be an informational meeting for any current 6th or 7th grade student parent interested in learning more about the athletic teams at Patton. Topics will include: PIAA physical form, concussion protocol, individual team information, how the new school start time will impact after school sports, eligibility requirements, followed by a Q/A session with the Patton Athletic Director, Kevin Crossman. The meeting will be held on May 25th at 6:30 in the Patton Library.

UHS Girls Soccer Camp

Hey Patton girls soccer players! Unionville High School Girls Soccer Summer Camp is open to all UHS and Patton players (rising 7th & 8th graders) The camp will be July 25–27 from 4-7 PM at UHS.

The #1 event to support the UHS soccer team is this summer camp. We have the same time/date/cost as last year. With over 40 in attendance in 2016, our goal is to exceed that in 2017. There is not a better value for your money….and we kept it local. To boot, there will be team building activities after every session including: Rita’s Water Ice truck, Mojo Loco (taco) truck, and a talent show.

For the Middle School parents, this is the second year we have included the Patton players. Not only is it a great way to learn how Coach Rata manages at the high school level, but it also build a talent pipeline to maintain success long-term. It is highly encouraged that you daughter’s participate.

Your prompt response allows us to manage the costs versus the number of trainers appropriately. Please print up this year’s summer camp registration form and send to Kris Jaenisch (1004 Mather Lane, West Chester, PA 19382). All the details are on the attached file.
