Richard Dawkins is a British ethologist, evolutionary biologist and popular science author. He was formerly Professor for Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. He was voted Britain’s leading public intellectual by readers of Prospect magazine and was named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” for 2007. Dawkins came to prominence with his 1976 book “The Selfish Gene”, which popularised the gene-centred view of evolution and introduced the term “meme”. He is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design. Are you looking for herbal cures for asthma? Asthma is a disease of the airways in which bronchi get inflamed. These inflamed airways restrict the flow of air in the lungs. An asthma attack is triggered by an allergen. That is why it is very similar to a typical allergic reaction. Asthma is triggered as a response of the immune system against some allergens. The immune system in its attempt to ward off a foreign element produces a series of reactions. This reaction is responsible for increased mucus production and spasms in the bronchi.

Cures For Asthma

There are various kinds of therapies available for asthma. Therapies may be conventional or alternative. The conventional treatment uses drugs that either relieve or control asthma symptoms. Medicines that relieve are taken after the commencement of the attack. They dilate the airways and help reduce the severity of symptoms. Drugs that control the onset of asthma have to be taken for a long duration. These must be taken regularly to be effective.

Of late, alternative cures such as herbal cures for asthma have gained popularity. Even though these medicines have been around for ages, it is only now that people have developed faith in their accuracy.

Garlic

Garlic is an excellent herbal cure for asthma. Garlic powder should be mixed with some boiled milk and consumed at the first sign of an asthma attack. This concoction helps in arresting the attack and is very effective in abating all the symptoms accompanying an asthma attack.

Ginger

Ginger is another one of those highly effective herbal cures for asthma. Make some ginger tea and add some crushed garlic to it. Drink this mixture twice a day. It not only helps in relieving the symptoms of asthma, but also in keeping them under good control.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a valuable herbal cure for asthma. Mix a teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of milk and drink it twice a day for this treatment to be effective.

Mustard oil

Mustard oil is used as massage oil by mixing it with camphor and then rubbing it on the sufferer’s chest. This helps in loosening up the phlegm that builds up in the chest.

Herbal cures are easily available and do not exhibit any side effects. However, it is important that you discuss your herbal treatments with your doctor. Do not stop taking your allopathic medicines on your own. The best option is to use these herbal cures for asthma in conjunction with your regular asthma medications.

Indemnity Health Insurance

A common employer-sponsored form of health insurance is a cafeteria or flexible spending plan. This type of health insurance allows employees to create a benefit package taken from a number of options. You need to contact the employee benefit department at your company for more information on the exact mix of choices available to you.

If you are looking for lower cost health insurance, a “basic and essential” plan may be the best option. Do keep in mind this type of health insurance is limited in what services may be covered so it is important to carefully read the policy so you understand what treatments the plan does cover. Another type of health insurance known as catastrophic health insurance or high-deductible health plans do just what it sounds like they would. The deductible is high, but this type of health insurance protects you against catastrophic illness with a very high total cost.

Health savings accounts are fairly new and an alternative to traditional health insurance. This plan involves putting money into a tax-free savings account to cover your medical expenses.

Managed Care Health Insurance

The two most common types of managed care health insurance are health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and preferred provider organizations (PPOs). HMOs give you access to a group of participating doctors, hospitals and health care providers. HMOs come with fewer out-of-pocket expenses, but visits to the doctor, prescriptions and other services usually come with a co-pay or fee.

PPOs are fee-for-service health insurance and medical services are paid by the insurer on a negotiated and discounted fee schedule. PPOs allow participants to choose medical providers outside the plan’s network, although this can result in higher out-of-pocket costs.

One other type of health insurance is point-of-service (POS) plans. This type of health insurance is similar to indemnity plans, and your primary care physician can refer you outside of the plan without any extra costs to the insured. If you refer yourself outside a POS plan you will be charged a co-pay.

For women and men skin care products should cover three basic principles; prevention, protection and individualized care.  Natural skin care for men can cover all of these concepts.  In fact, natural compounds and extracts are the best ingredients for the skin’s health. 

Below, we briefly cover what to look for in men skin care products.  But, remember that skincare, like any other kind of healthcare, is a long subject and you can never have too much information.  Knowledge is the key to natural skin care for men.  This should be just enough to get you started down the road to healthier, better looking skin.

Prevention Principle

To prevent future problems, such as disease, age spots, blemishes and wrinkles, there are several things that we must do.  First, there are some things to avoid.  Overexposure to the sun and smoking do more damage than just about anything else.  But, some of the common ingredients found in women and men skin care products can also do damage.

You should always avoid harmful substances, such as irritants, allergens, toxins and carcinogens.  There is a long list of chemical ingredients that fall into those categories, so I’ll only mention the most common ones; perfumes, preservatives and mineral oils.

Perfumes and preservatives are the two most common allergens, but many are toxic and some are known carcinogens.  Mineral oil and its derivatives include petrolatum, petroleum jelly, paraffin, liquid paraffin and paraffin wax.  If you look at many some so-called natural skin care for men, you are likely to see at least one of those ingredients.

The only preservative that should be included in women or men skin care products is natural vitamin E, but most companies use parabens.  If a parabens or fragrance is listed as an ingredient, don’t buy it. 

Mineral oils found in men skin care products do more harm than good.  They inhibit skin regeneration, clog pores and lead to excessive dryness.

Protection Principles

In order to protect the deepest of the skin’s layers from damage, premature aging and disease, you need moisture, nutrients and protection from the sun.  Natural skin care for men should include all of these things, but I’m not talking using sunscreen on a daily basis.  That can lead to vitamin D deficiencies. 

If you will spend more than 15 minutes in direct sunlight on a given day, you should use a zinc oxide sun block.  Titanium dioxide has recently been listed as a possible carcinogen, but it is commonly found in natural skin care for men and women, because it is a naturally occurring substance.  To protect from the sun, men skin care products should include vitamin B-5 and coenzyme Q10. 

For moisture, the best choices are vitamin E, essential fatty acids, grape seed oil and Babassu wax.  You can see that the use of these protective and moisturizing ingredients also supply nutrients.

Individualized Care Principle

If you have wrinkles, stretch marks, acne, psoriasis, eczema, excessive dryness, dermatitis or another condition, then you may need specific ingredients.  For example, the best natural skin care for men with dermatitis is a protein peptide, such as “Functional Keratin”.  That’s a brand name.  Other forms of keratin are not as effective.

If you shop carefully and do a little research about the ingredients in a product, you will see that men skin care products can address all of the issues mentioned here, naturally.
