Quinton, or Q as people tend to call him, is a local artist that works with recycled materials to create functional objects. My main concern with these photos was to make them appealing while showing that they are working fixtures. Fortunately Q brought several props to enhance the scene while I balanced the ambient light with that of the bulbs to create that orange glow that we all associate with warmth.

Qualcomm Wireless Reach

My friend Nathan and I were contracted by the Wireless Reach division of Qualcomm to create a video that adopted the current branding guidelines. This was a monumental task to say the least. We had to match the look established by corporate via a high budget, 6 person, 1 week endeavor. Except ours was happening in the span of one day with only two of us. And as always, under the budget constraints of the “corporate citizenship” arm that is Wireless Reach. With a little bit of forethought (shot list and storyboards) and the compact/lightweight form factor of modern gear we were able to grab the shots we needed from our list without wasting a single moment. All cameras and support gear (sliders, jib, tripods, etc.) was easily packable by the two of us.

Kickstarter Video for Eclipse Chocolate

Well, it’s all over except for the funding. Actually that’s done too. Will contacted me for help on a little side project he had going called the “Eclipse Chocolate Winter 2012 Grand Expansion”. Not to swing hammers (fortunately for me) but rather to shoot and edit a video that would convince people to give him great sums of money to do what he does best – make delicious chocolate. And it worked, but I think it’s more due to the rewards rather than anything I did.

US Ambassadors Visit San Diego Chamber of Commerce and Qualcomm

This was the first time I was ever in the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. I’ve been to Qualcomm several times but this was the first time I ever got the official tour. It was to cover the arrival of three US ambassadors:

Daniel L. Shields – Brunei
David Adelman – Singapore

This is part of an ongoing series that celebrates the American Craftsmen (and women). These are the people who have struck out on their own to find their version of the american dream. I photograph them in the tintype process that was popularized here in the 1850’s. If you’ve seen photos of civil war soliders then you’ve probably seen a tintype.
