Kuala Melaka Inn is definitely one of the best value hotels in Langkawi within convenient access to many other major attractions such as Field of Burnt Rice and Atma Alam Batik Art Village.

Its spacious accommodation is perfect for both leisure and business at a price all can afford. Our meeting halls and facilities are also able to cater from small to large groups arrange ments.

After watching this multi-colored building sit empty for several years just begging for visitors, it was quite exciting to see a brand new sign announcing the birth of the Kuala Melaka Inn. Having an appreciation for ‘recycled’ buildings I went for a visit to see what they had created. Meeting the enthusiastic management team, it was easy to see how their vision and drive had helped make this happen.

KUALA MELAKA INN.

The Kuala Melaka Inn is a new an unique concept for a small budget hotel in Langkawi. The hotel is in a renovated office building on the Melaka River. It reminds me of similar hotels in Los Angeles and New York where they are considered very avant -garde.

MONG, MURAD And AZMI , ‘MANAGEMENT’

The industrial feel of the building may not appeal to everyone but it is ingenious and comfortable with a sundry shop and café on the premises. There is also a juice bar adjacent to the Puteri Wellness Spa, which overlooks the rice fields and Melaka River.

The rooms are clean and simple and extremely spacious, all with air conditioning and many with beautiful views of the surrounding Langkawi greenery, the Melaka River and the Andaman Sea.

Destination Information

Langkawi Island is located just off the coast of North Western Malaysia, about 30km from Kuala Perlis, 51km from Kuala Kedah and close to Thailand. Langkawi is made up of an archipelago of 99 islands and the island itself is the largest, measuring about 478.5 sq km, and only one with any real inhabitants. It is fringed by lovely beaches scattered along its coast. The island still has a rural landscape with villages and paddy fields.

Langkawi was officially declared a geopark by UNESCO on 1 June 2007. It is the 52nd geopark in Unesco’s global network, and the first one in Southeast Asia. The island has the distinction of being the world’s only geopark made of 99 islands, abundant rainforests teeming with exotic flora and fauna, limestone and karst formations, caves with stalactites and stalagmites and beautiful beaches within an urban setting, complete with world class infrastructure, including an international airport, jetty, hotels and duty-free shopping facilities.

Climate:

Langkawi, being close to the Equator has a tropical climate with an average temperature of 32°C. How to Get Here:

By Air: Malaysia Airlines and budget carrier AirAsia provide direct air services from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and LCCT respectively to Langkawi. Firefly services are from Penang to Langkawi. There are also flights direct from Singapore by SilkAir.

By Road: Drive to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis on the mainland - these are the main take-off points by ferry to Langkawi. The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Kedah takes about six hours while Kuala Perlis is another hour away.

By Rail: Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) or Malayan Railway provides economical and comfortable rail services from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Star in Kedah and Arau in Perlis (north of Kedah). From these points, take a taxi or bus to Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis for your ferry to Langkawi.

By Sea: Express ferries provide regular services daily to Langkawi from both Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis. The journey takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and 45 minutes respectively. From Penang to Langkawi, the ferry takes about 2 hours 30 minutes. The island is also a stopover for Star Cruise, one of the largest luxury cruise lines in the world.

Room refurbishment

Casa del Mar will be undergoing a room refurbishment project from June to October 2011.

The new rooms will feature additional storage space, timber flooring, new lighting, new “heavenly” type of beds, new furniture and curtains. Timber decking will be laid at the porch and terrace area, existing glass panels and entrance door will be replaced with glass sliding door, enable guests to enjoy the sea breeze. Other room amenities include power socket panel with universal adapter next to the working desk, wall mounted flat screen TV and iPod docking station.

A dedicated area at the lounge will feature a separate shower, for checked out guests who are on late flight.

While we are upgrading the hotel to make your stay more comfortable, some noise will be inevitable during the renovation period. Please be assured that we are working with the contractors to keep the noise and inconvenience to minimal. We appreciate your understanding and support during this period. Please feel free to let us know of any question or concern you have. Meanwhile, you can visit us on Facebook for update on the refurbishment work.

Pool View & Sea Front Rooms

These rooms are both similar in size and offer the same facilities. However the Sea Front rooms are closer to the beach and offer a greater view of the ocean. 33 sq meters in area, the Pool View & Sea Front Rooms are furnished with king, twin or Hollywood twin bed arrangements. The sliding picture window opens onto a private terrace furnished with two chairs and a drinks table.

Junior Suite

Covering 60 square meters, the Junior-suite offers two sea-facing balconies one furnished with chairs, drinks table and hammock. Living area is furnished with a chaise lounge and separate seating area. The center piece of the bedroom area is a four poster canopy king bed. Plasma Screens Televisions (32” and 26”) furnish both the bedroom and living area. A large bathroom features a double vanity.

Deluxe Suite

Covering 70 square meters in area the Deluxe Suite has entry into the living room which is furnished with a lounge suite, separate seating area and 37” plasma screen television. Sliding floor to ceiling picture windows open onto a large balcony facing the sea and furnished with seating and drinks table and a hammock. The bedroom has the luxury of a dressing area including dressing table, sofa and IPod docking station. The four poster bed at the far end of the room has a 26" Plasma screen television and faces the second balcony overlooking the beach. A spacious bathroom includes a double vanity.

Tennis
The tennis courts are located at the Datai Bay Golf Course and are available from 0730 hours to 2230 hours. Please book the courts and transfers through the concierge. Use of the courts and its facilities are chargeable.

Volleyball
The volleyball court is located beside the poolside bar just before you approach the watersports hut.

Water sports
Try your hand at windsurfing, catamaran sailing or canoeing. Snorkelling equipment is also available for you to observe the marine life in our small coral garden. Contact our staff at the Watersports Hut who will be more than happy to make arrangements and provide information on winds and tides.

The billiards and games room is located on the ground floor next to The Restaurant. There, you can find a 12-foot billiards table along with a selection of board games such as chess, scrabble, monopoly, rummy, carom and mahjong. In addition, we have a wide selection of reading material for your enjoyment along with satellite television including ESPN sports channel. Open from 0900 hours - midnight – Daily.

Kids Club

Our smallest and youngest guests are important to us here at The Andaman. We really want kids to have fun while their parents are relaxing and winding down. We are happy to introduce a Kids Club - something unique for the hotel which will give pleasure and fun to our small guests.

We looked for a motel in Pantai Cenang area (a lot of motels to choose from!) so that we can easily go to the Cenang beach. After driving forth-and-back along Pantai Cenang road, we decided to check into AB Motel Langkawi.
