HOW TO GET THERE ?

From Kuala Lumpur
Drive along the PLUS highway towards the north. Head to Lumut.
Or by express bus to Lumut. Or by domestic flight right into the Pangkor Airport.

From Lumut Jetty
Take a ferry ride to Pangkor. Service frequency is every 30 minutes.
The ride will take about 25 minutes (aircond powerboat).

From Pangkor Jetty
A taxi van will take you straight to the resort.

Popular budget place with A-frame chalets and 2 mattresses on the floor, bicycles for hire, meals available.

Can wind down at the beach was calm the soul.

This was the "beranda" at Joe Fisherman's Village, where we stayed for those two and a half weeks we disappeared from the face of the Earth. Although a bit run down, it was very comfortable and featured some of the best seafood I've ever had. The owners, a couple named Joe and Zura, were devote Muslims. They were kind, giving, helpful, and gracious, even to the spoiled brats and burnouts who checked in. Having been in a Muslim country for over a month, I must say I'm not wholly impressed with the religion's practitioners. Joe and Zura, with their quick wit, candor, and kindness were wonderful examples of how religion can inform, heal, and beautify when practiced with a true heart.

Welcome Nazri Camp at Pangkor Island

The Nazri Camp is located at Teluk Nipah. The Camp offers 10 small huts. Some of the huts are triangle sized. All have fans and mattresses available. Some of the huts have attached bathrooms.

Food is available for reasonable prices. There is a barbeque on request available with a minimum of 10 people. There is a central relaxing area with music and TV (football seems to be very popular).

Camp entrance.

The Nazrih Nipah Camp has a laundry service available. Adik, the manager is a musician. Don't be surprised when you come you find him jamming with the guests or some friends.

But the main reason why I like the Nazrih Nipah Camp is it's relaxed and cool atmosphere under the shady trees.

It has for sure a sort of "jungle feeling". Highly recommended if you travel "on a shoestring". Price of the huts depend on having a attached bathroom, but start from RM 50.

The Nipah Bay Villa is a nice hotel at Teluk Nipah. The owner, Mr. and Mrs. Sabtu are a lovely couple who are running a business here for more the 18 years now (since the late 1980's). They have seen Teluk Nipah seen developing into the nice tourist area as it is now.

This hotel is as many hotels at Pangkor a family business. For this reason you will feel very much at home. The hotel is great for families as for couples who want a nice little chalet with all the comforts as air-conditioning, attached bathrooms and television with satellite connection.

Our Rooms :

Rooms with fully air-conditions and hot shower . These rooms are divided into 3 types, Standard Double Bed Rooms, Standard Single Bed Rooms and Deluxe Rooms. We provide each room with one extra mattress and if you wish to add another mattress, we will only charge RM 10.

We also provide hot water, drinking water, extra blankets, iron, extra pillows etc. If you wish to spend a few hours longer, we will charge RM 5 for every hour. Before checking out, kindly return any belongings of the resort. Taxis are available along the beach and if request, we can call the taxi to the resort.

During your stay, please be free to refer to the counter or the stuff on duty for any problems.

At the Pangkor Island jetty, taxis / buses are available to the resort. The journey from the jetty to our resort takes about 10 minutes. If you wish to travel around the island, or wish to visit historical places and the Pangkor Island satay processing factory, you can use taxis or buses facility. (not included in package)

The Horizon Inn is a hotel at Nipah Bay*. The hotel has spacious comfortable rooms at reasonable prices. There are singles and doubles rooms available. All rooms come with ASTRO satellite TV, air conditioning, balcony and hot showers. There are rooms with sea-view and hill-view.

All of the rooms are on the first floor. There's little difference in quality of sea view and hill view rooms with two exception. The views towards to sea are of course an asset and sitting on your balcony watching life on the street below is always great.

Another advantage of the sea view rooms is that in the evenings the beautiful horn bill birds come and go. On the hill site, you may miss the sea view, but the horn bills (and sometimes the monkeys) hang around to find fruits.

Hill-view rooms also each have a balcony but does not command the sunset views. Nevertheless it is still pleasant with gentle breeze, giving you fresh cool air.

The Room Rates

2D1N Package

The Horizon Inn offers a standard package for a group of 20 adults or more. The 2 days 1 night package is priced at RM88.00 per person and includes:

Return ferry ticket
Return taxi from Pangkor jetty to hotel
One night stay
Three meals: lunch, dinner and breakfast before checking out

RM55.00 is chargeable to children 5-11 years old accompanying adults in this package.

The rooms will accommodate up to four adults in the group. Extra day and night simply add RM88.00 per person. Activities such as fishing, snorkeling, boat rides, bicycle rides and jungle trekking can be arranged once you reach there.

Downstairs, there's a convenience store, a shop selling local dried fish and ikan bilis and a fine restaurant with some good local. The fried chicken and the beef dishes are highly recommended. Western food is also available.

We are also delighted to find out that Horizon Inn is going to open a "gourmet health coffee shop" on 30th Dec 2007, selling pre-packed local coffees with Malaysian herbs such as Tongkat Ali. You will also find famous Ipoh White coffee, slimming tea and health drinks with ganoderma (giant mushrooms).

It is a refreshing change from the typical dried fish and ikan bilis stores that you normally find at Pangkor.

The products are locally produced. Most of them come from a factory in Taiping.

The Horizon Inn can also arrange tours on the island for you.

Activities such as boat trips to neighboring islands as well as canoeing and jet-skiing can be easily enjoyed by hiring the beach boys in front of the hotel for the services.

You can also hire one of the taxis for a leisure ride around the island.

Behind the Horizon Inn, it's actually only a 15 minute walk where you will find a waterfall and the entrance of the jungle trek to the other side of the island. Guides are not necessary but for the trek you will need a decent pair walking shoes/sandals and long trousers.

The jungle at Pangkor is dense and there's the chance you will get leeches hitch-hiking on your legs before falling back to the damp earth, fat and sated after a satisfying meal of your blood.
The Coffee Shop

Next door to the hotel is a small coffee shop located. The coffee is all local and comes from Taiping. Have a look at the coffee shop of the Horizon Inn. Even if you are not interested in coffee, visit the shop because they have some awesome photos of Pangkor, including one of Pangkor Town around 1897.

The Schedule

OVERALL

Pangkor is a 30-minute ferry ride from Lumut, a coastal town, which is 84km from Ipoh city. The return ferry fare is RM10.00 per person. It is very much convenient to disembark at the second stop (Pangkor Town Jetty) instead of the first stop (Sungai Penang Kecil which is a fishing village) before taking a taxi to Puteri Bayu Beach Resort. Please be forewarned that the taxis have no meters, hence you should check the fare before embarking on a ride. Usually the fare is around RM 10.00 per taxi.

FROM KUALA LUMPUR

By Road

It takes 3 to 4 hours drive by road from Kuala Lumpur. If you are travelling along the North – South Highway, you have to exit Bidor and through Teluk Intan (follow the road signage). You can also hop on a bus from Pudu Bus Station to Lumut Bus Terminal.

By Air

There are also scheduled flights from Subang Airport to Pangkor Airport operated by Berjaya Air, five times a week except on Tuesday and Thursday. Please call Berjaya Air at 05 – 685 5828 or 03 – 7846 8228 for more details.

FROM PENANG

Lumut is only 2 hours away from Penang. If you are travelling along the North South Highway, you have to exit Changkat Jering. The road will take you to Lumut through Pantai Remis.
