<p>LEGGE &#8211; Andy Nelson,  52, of Danesville, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17th, 2012 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.</p>
<p>           Born in Newfoundland, he was a son of Robert Legge of Newfoundland and the late Sarah (Brown) Legge.</p>
<p>Andy was a volunteer fire fighter for Liverpool, Mill Village and Oakhill Volunteer Fire Departments. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was also an avid dart player. His greatest love was for his family, with whom he enjoyed spending time. He will be sadly missed by his family and by all who knew him.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife Helen (Sperry); his daughter Tiffany (Rob) Pellerin of Mill Village. His sons Lowell (Tara Wilson) of Liverpool, Toby of Newfoundland and Jonathan Keddy of Bridgewater. His grandchildren Austin, Matthew, Mallory, Teyanna, Tayo, Tori and Dylan.</p>
<p>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Captain Kirk MacLeod of the Liverpool Salvation Army Corps officiating. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com</p>

<p>PYKE &#8211; Eugene D.,  85, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11th, 2012 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.</p>
<p> Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Willis and Rita (Manthorne) Pyke.</p>
<p> Eugene began his working career with the Best Yeast Plant in Brooklyn as a mixer. From there, he worked at the Frontinac Service Station and then to delivering gas. Following this, he went to Thompson Brothers in the pattern shop with his father where he learned his father’s philosophy if you asked him if the job was good enough he would answer “if it’s the best you can do then it is good enough”. Eugene then moved onto Bowater Mersey Paper Company where he worked in the machine shop moving to the position of foreman until he retired after 37 years service. He was a member of the Liverpool Firefighters Association joining when he was eighteen and eventually the Honorary Firefighters Association.  Eugene had a passion for woodworking. He enjoyed sports, his favorites being hockey and baseball.  Above all, Eugene loved his family  There was nothing more precious to him than each and every one of them. He cared for them  in a way that can only be described in one word &#8211; Love.</p>
<p> He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Enid (Anthony); his daughters: Patsy Pyke (Pauline Doucet) of Ottawa, Susan (Wendell) Whynot of Liverpool and Ann Marie Pyke of Brooklyn. His grandchildren Joanne Whynot, Adam Roach, Neil Whynot, and Jody Mitton and his great grandchildren MacKenzie Roach and Angus Skinner.</p>
<p> He was predeceased by his son Steven.</p>
<p> Visitation will be Monday, May 14th, 2012  from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.  in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Liverpool United Baptist Church. Reverend Steven Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Liverpool United Baptist  Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Liverpool United Baptist Church, the Dr. Arthur  H. <p>MacLeod, Daniel Frederick, 78, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011, at home.<br />
Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late William and Arlene (McLeod) MacLeod.<br />
Dan joined the Royal Canadian Air Force right out of school spending five years in the service before moving back home and going to work for Berwick Bakery. Following his employment with the bakery, Dan went to work with Dominion Stores where he became store manager then moved on to TRA. Dan then went to work at Stenpro in the machine shop, retiring in 1998. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards and working in his garden.<br />
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Oickle); daughters Myra (Leslie) Foley, of Lafayette, Louisiana, Katherine MacLeod-Tucker (Barry Tucker) , of Coldbrook; son Peter MacLeod (Dennis Wyatt), of North Vancouver, B.C. ; sister Helen Roberts, of Liverpool; brothers Jack (Ellen), of Milton, Bruce (Judith), of New Brunswick; and four grand dogs.<br />
He was predeceased by a sister Mary; brothers Robert and Maurice.<br />
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bog Road, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. No flowers by request. <p>Clarkin, Paul Joseph, 58, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away on Monday, April 30th, 2012, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by his loving family.</p>
<p>Born in Liverpool, he was a son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Hollands) (Clarkin) Lohnes and the late Joseph Clarkin.</p>
<p>Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who was happiest when spending time with his family and friends. He was employed for over 30 years with the Bowater Mersey Paper Company. Paul enjoyed watching and playing sports, walking his dog Nicki and loved working on his ‘71 Duster. He was a member of the  Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool.</p>
<p>He is survived by his loving wife, the former Yvonne Amirault; daughters Maria (Clarkin) Manthorne, of Brooklyn, Julie (Kevin) Brady, of Milton; grandchildren Jacob Jesso and Brooklyn Brady. Sister Joanne (Rick) Baker, of Port Medway.</p>

<p>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. and  funeral service will be held on Friday, May 4th, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception, all from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Lay Minister Peter Anthony officiating. Burial will be in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery, College Street, Liverpool. <p>Smith, Clifford Murray- 82, of Hunts Point, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on April 29th,  2012.</p>
<p>Born in Beech Hill, Queens County, he was a son of the late Clifford and Myra (Frellick) Smith.</p>
<p>In his earlier years Murray worked for Maritime Telegraph and Telephone. He was a member of Wesley United Church, Hunts Point, singing in the church choir for a number of years and volunteering in various church and community groups. Murray received the Builders Award from Baseball Nova Scotia in recognition of over 40  years of volunteer service in baseball. Murray had a passion for nature and spent many hours fishing, hunting and working in his wood lots.</p>
<p>Survived by wife Phyllis (Henderson), daughters Joanne (Donald) Uhlman, Brooklyn, Beverley (John) Smith- Armstrong, Western Head and Cheryl (Peter) Armstrong, Black Point,  sons Alan (Coreen), Cole Harbour and Blair (Michelle), Bedford, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Edna Smith, Hunts Point and numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He was predeceased by brothers Donald and Stanley and sisters Ada Fanjoy and Mildred Smith.</p>
<p>There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.. Reverend Neil MacDonald officiating. A private burial will be held in Oceanside Cemetery, Hunts Point.  Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Wesley United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society. <p>HARTLIN &#8211; Keith Frederic, 78, of North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, formerly of Kentville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26th, 2012 in North Queens Nursing Home.</p>
<p>           Born in Harmony Mills, Queens County, he was a son of the late Owen and Ruth (Minard) Hartlin.</p>
<p>Keith was  an employee with Department of Transportation for many years working with the road crews. He enjoyed gardening and doing puzzles.</p>
<p>He is survived by his sister Enid (Charles) MacKay, of Liverpool and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He was predeceased by his sisters Helena and Joyce Bentley and his brother Edmund.</p>
<p>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 at  11:00 a.m. in Harmony Cemetery. <p>WHYNOT &#8211; Reid Douglas,  48, of Liverpool, passed away suddenly at home on April 23rd, 2012.</p>
<p>Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Reid and Pamela (Ganter)(Hartlen) Whynot.</p>
<p>Doug was a former employee with the local KFC for 27 years. He was a very private person who enjoyed music and electronics.</p>
<p>He is survived by his brother Trevor of Liverpool and his aunts Barbara (Lloyd) Naugler of Mersey point and Sybil (Reg) Coops of Milton. His uncle Walter (Charlene) Ganter of Upper Kent, NB. and his nephews Connor and Matthew Campbell of Liverpool.</p>
<p>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Liverpool United Baptist Cemetery, Church Street, Liverpool. <p>SMART &#8211; Elizabeth J.,  80, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Sunday, April 22nd, 2012.</p>
<p>Born in Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Cunningham and Louise MacDonald.</p>
<p>Betty worked for Standard Brands at the Best Yeast plant in Brooklyn and was a receptionist for Dr. Lloyd MacLeod. She worked at Queens Manor for a number of years until her retirement. She was a member of Zion United Church and the U.C.W. for many years as well as the Liverpool Firefighters Association Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion  Mersey Branch #38. She enjoyed watching curling, playing darts and bowling with the seniors league.</p>
<p>She is survived by her daughter Carla (Enos) Wentzell of Westfield, sons Albert Jr. (Lyna Lee) and Danny (Sharon), both of Liverpool. Grandchildren Nathan (Rebecca) Smart, Meaghan (Adam) Roberts, Stacy (Ryan) Smart-Chandler, Tyler Smart and Cassidee Kempton. Great granddaughters Elizabeth Smart and Adelyn Roberts. Sister Barbara Knowlton of Fort Myers and half-sister Agatha Jennings of Bridgewater. Brother Joseph Cunningham of Liverpool.</p>
<p>She was predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter Valarie, half-sisters Dorothy Webb, Marion Sarty, Marguerite McLeod and brothers James and Leland Cunningham and several half-brothers.</p>
<p>Visitation will be Thursday, April 26th, 2012 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Friday, April 27th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Church, Liverpool. Reverend Neil MacDonald officiating. A private family interment will be held in Zion United Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool following a reception in the church. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Zion United Church. <p>MILLER &#8211; Kevin George, 50, of Milton, Queens County, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, April 20th, 2012.</p>
<p>Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Virginia (Whynot) Miller and George Foster.</p>
<p>In his early years, Kevin enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and playing cards with his friends. Over the past few years, he loved spending time with all his buddies, whether it was going for short drives, meeting for coffee or just visiting. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife and companion of 28 years Joanne MacLeod. His son Christopher, his daughters Tiffany and Tasha (Dillon Conrad) and his granddaughter Isabella, his pride and joy. His foster mother Shirley Whynot, his stepmother Jessie Foster, his sisters Kelly (Richard) Young and Shelley (Shane) Goulden. Half-brothers Steven (Sonya) Foster and Larry (Gina) Foster as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.</p>
<p>He was predeceased by his foster father Lawrence Whynot and his sister Vera “Honey”.</p>
<p>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where funeral service will be Thursday, April 26th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Corey Pickens officiating. A reception will be held at the Milton Hall following the funeral. No flowers by request. Donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the family for an an Education Fund for Tiffany. <p align="justify">Arna Virginia Gardner, 81, Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 in the home, surrounded by family.</p>
<p>Born in Laconia, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Arnold Bertram and Ethel Mae (Veinot) Johnson. She was a faithful member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Arna had been employed as a seamstress for a number of years and with Peoples Jewellers for 11 years, retiring in 1992. She was Past Matron of Century Chapter No. 10, Order of the Eastern Star, New Glasgow and an affiliated member of Elm Chapter No. 48, OES, Upper Stewiacke.</p>
<p>Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Murray F. “Mike” Gardner, New Glasgow; daughters, Dianne (Blake) Storey, Sydney River; Linda Gardner, Vancouver, B.C.; Nancy (Kelly) Verbicky, Portland, Oregon; son, Craig Gardner (Andrea Schmaltz), Ottawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Shannon (Doug), Andrew (Brianna), Aaron, Taylor, Mitchell and Meaghan; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel “Nate”, Erica and Michael; “special daughter”, Deborah Cowley, Vancouver; step-mother, Julie Johnson, Bridgewater; sisters, June O’Brien, Judy Joudrey, Bridgewater; brothers, Arnie (Sandra) Johnson, Jack (Ruby) Johnson, Coldbrook; Maynard Johnson, Bridgewater; sisters-in-law, Hilda Emenau, Liverpool; Frances (Harry) Kuniholm, Athol, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard Johnson; brothers-in-law, Ross (Ruth) Gardner and Ted Emenau.</p>
<p>The family will receive visitors <strong>2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 24</strong> in P. &amp; K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held <strong>11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25</strong> in First United Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Stanton presiding. Interment will be held   in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn, Queens County.</p>
<p>Century Chapter No. 10, OES service will be held <strong>6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24</strong> in the funeral home.</p>
