Catch Up Post - Majorca 2013

So I thought I would write a little 'catch up' post … Last week myself and 3 friends headed on a plane to Majorca. Sian and I visited the same place last year and had such a fantastic time we were both eager to return. So after a tough year for the girls (uni finals, dissertations etc …) they needed to relax in the sunshine by day/ let their hair down by night.

We had a lovely week with lots of funny memories that will stay with us forever. The sun was shining every day, apart from one morning where a few drops of rain decided to appear so we went and played mini golf (which may I add … I won!) We went out every night, and made sure we got on stage at the hotel every evening (including taking part in Men Vs Women). We set each other dares, which involved seeing how many hats one could find, copying someones dances moves, making people copy our own dance moves and many many more. It was all great fun. We had a last minute dilemma when our return flight was cancelled due to the strike. But in brighter news we had an extra day away, and had an even more fantastic last night.

If you've considered going away to Majorca, I would recommend the East Coast. Calas De Mallorca is a great area, with cliff top views, minutes from the beach, a good night out and a lot of fun. I would definitely love to return. If you're in the area pop in and see Paul and Lee @ the Three Lions in Calas De Mallorca, they are the loveliest guys … and it's a family run fun bar. Great staff, and they even remembered us from last year…

I've definitely got the holiday blues, but I'm already planning my next trip away …

Review - Chanel Les Beiges - Healthy Glow Sheer Powder

Available in 5 shades from Pale - Deep - it's the Non Powder - Powder (which is apparently all the rage right now) ... A lot of brands are starting to release similar products, and their purpose? To stop make up looking 'cakey' or 'over-powdered' … and the result? A perfect base, with undetectable powder.

If you watched my Paris Vlogs you will know that I attended The Chanel Exhibition @ the Palais De Tokyo, where I listened to the life of Gabriel Chanel. I learnt about how all her life experiences led her towards some of the World's most Iconic products (whether that's No 5 or The Two C's themselves)

It's meant to represent a new spirit of make up, a breath of fresh air to the industry of over-powdered t-zones.

I needed to get my hands on it, and fast. But everywhere and their Mother's stores were SOLD OUT. The worst words to hear as a beauty addict. So as I jetted off to where Coco once lived I knew I would find it somewhere, and Sephora did not disappoint.

It's a beautiful powder that is lightweight. I'm not a big fan of powder as I quite like my make up to maintain a level of moisture (that's not oily) but I hate the feeling of being over powdered. So this screamed out to me. It did not disappoint. It's the perfect balance of powder without being powder (if that makes sense) it feels silky & smooth … the texture is great, and it adds to my flawless base instead of being one step too far. It's an extra step I'm willing to add.

The compact is great it's small enough to be practical, and the brush is perfect - it's soft, lightweight and small. I'm impressed.

Yes of course the price is a little steep, but it seems like a lot of work had to go in to creating this new spirt of make up. I like it, and I'll definitely be purchasing it for my professional kit.

What's in my Hand Luggage - Majorca Edit

I thought I would do a quick blogpost to show you what I was taking in my hand luggage to Majorca, I'm all about travelling light, and I feel this is the absolute maximum I would take on a plane. I hate carrying lots, and especially as we're flying with quite a strict airline (cough Ryan air … cough) My Zara city bag is the perfect size for hand luggage, and it means I can also fit (squeeze) a couple extra magazines in once I'm at the airport. Result! I like to take Bioderma on a flight so I can take my make up off, and intensely moisturise my skin, I will probably pop my Embryolisse in as well as it's such a good moisturiser. My YSL foundation is only in there as I'm scared it will break if I put it in the hold luggage.

Filofax Summer Blogger's Challenge

I was recently contacted by the lovely Jess from theideasnetwork to partake in a Summer Challenge. It was only a couple of days before I was heading to Paris so the lovely Jess quickly sent me a lovely filofax so I could plan my trip … and to take a photograph of setting the scene for Summer. Seeing as I was in Paris I headed straight to the Eiffel Tower, and found a pretty garden close by which became the setting for my final snapshot. The lovely people at Filofax will be uploading the photos onto their Facebook page (link here) and I would love it if you guys would vote for me! I'm not sure when the photos will be uploaded but as soon as they are I will let you know.

I was sent a beautiful Flamingo Organiser, the designer is incredibly cute and girly. If you guys know me well you will know I am obsessed with my filofax, and at the start of this year I invested in one of the Breast Cancer Campaign organisers - as it was a charity very close to my heart. A second filofax has actually come in incredibly handy … I seem to have a lot of things going on at the moment that I need to remember, and I am constantly writing lists.

Paris - 21st Birthday Celebrations

Time well spent.

For most of you, you would have known that this time last week I was just arriving in Paris to celebrate my 21st Birthday. I can't believe a week has already gone by. Above is a selection of photos from the trip. I had the best birthday in the world, with the loveliest best friend. Sian and I spent 3 nights in the city of love - and yes I fell in love with the city. I'm pretty sure I'm already planning my next trip there. With a long list of things I wanted to do whilst in the city, we managed to tick of the majority. The last two due to weather circumstances were unable to complete. But visiting the eiffel tower, pont des arts, palais de tokyo, louvre and laduree were to name a few of the completed tick list.

Above you can see a few of our adventures, starting with breakfast opposite the moulin rouge, visiting the eiffel tower, and receiving birthday sunglasses from Sephora … we had a blast.

If you would like a more in-depth post of what we did/ places I would visit in Paris … I'm planning on a blog post later next week, so be sure to check back!

Just a side note to say a massive thank you to everyone who left me wonderful comments on my birthday, you guys definitely added to the magic of the day.

Review - Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

I am a big fan of make up brushes, and owning nearly 100 brushes I couldn't quite justify purchasing another when Real Techniques launched last year. I HAVE BEEN MISSING OUT.

After purchasing this brush I can see why they are so popular, the quality and the price are probably the main points. I am a huge fan of the Sigma F80 buffing brush, but I find it absorbs a lot of the product. This brush however applies all the product on your face, without soaking it in to the bristles.

It's the right amount of bristle to brush, it's perfect for applying, blending and buffing foundation flawlessly into the skin. The handle is lightweight, but at the same time weighty enough. The bristles are soft so no scratching your face off and it feels more expensive then less than a tenner. Even after washing this brush a couple of times I've noticed no change in quality, and NO SHEDDING. Major bonus points here.

For £9.99 I'm tempted to buy a couple more, a brush is for life not just for christmas/birthday/ Monday feeling sorry for myself splurge.

I'm excited for the release of the duo-fibre collection on 20th May 2013, definitely looking to get my hands on them.

Review - YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation review

So you all know how much I love my Chanel Foundation but recently I have found myself using the YSL foundation a lot more in my make up artistry kit. After seeing some photographs and thinking "wow her skin looks gorgeous …" I realised the foundation was doing wonders for others. So trying a sample from my kit, I decided to buy a whole bottle for myself.

After using for the a couple of days, alongside my new Real Techniques Expert Face Brush I realised I was in love with this foundation.

The foundation itself is beautifully lightweight, and leaves a natural dewy finish on the skin. It's light coverage, but can definitely be built to more of a medium coverage.

The colour selection is great, with 22 shades in the range with three different undertones - Rose (BR), Beige (B) & Gold(BD).

I think this will be my perfect foundation for Summer, as I tend to opt for a lighter coverage in the warmer months.

Chocolate Cupcakes

So when I was 18 I posted a list of 21 things before I'm 21 (link)

Numero 7 was "to bake the perfect cupcakes"

(Now as a disclaimer I can bake, but I wanted to learn the best technique off of a professional … ha!)

So working in a hotel gives me an advantage because it mean's I know a couple of chefs, so one Sunday Afternoon I enlisted Andy to help me get to grips with baking some simple cupcakes.

I will pop the recipe & ingredients down below, but these were so easy to make it made ticking off Number 7 very easy!

I hope you enjoy.

Ingredients -

100g Unsalted Butter

100g Caster Sugar

2 Medium Eggs

100g Self Raising Flour

100g Cocoa Powder

100g Icing Sugar

100g Unsalted Butter

75g Melted Chocolate

Wispa Bar all chopped up

Raspberries

Method -

- Preheat oven to 190 degrees celsius

- Beat butter & sugar until light & creamy

- Add eggs individually & beat well

- Fold in sieved dry ingredients

- Divide mixture into individual cases

- Bake in preheated oven for 15 mins, until risen

- Cool cupcakes

- Beat butter & icing sugar until light & fluffy

- Beat in melted chocolate

- Fold in chopped up wispa bar

- Place in piping bag & pipe onto cupcakes

- Decorate with wispa pieces and a raspberry

Mmm make a cup of tea/ or go to costa and buy a mint hot chocolate,

sit back & enjoy …

HM Sports Bra

So recently I have been on a bit of a health kick, researching ways I could get fit in the comfort of my own home. YouTube has been my saviour and I have come across so many great health & fitness videos I could sit and watch them for days.

Sports wear never really crossed my mind until I realised how much easier it is to exercise in gear that's suitable for your activities. No more tugging at my joggers when running.

This little HM beauty was only £9.99 and fits like a glove, I love wearing sports bras when working out, and normally just wear them without a t-shirt on top. If I could exercise naked … I probably would. So I opt for clothing that's fitting with support.

I'm a huge fan of Nike Sportswear (Link) but I find HM a budget friendly alternative.

Now the Sunshine has decided to occasionally pop it's head out, I've been lusting over bright, colourful items. The Zara bag is stunning, and I'm very temped to purchase this for my holiday bag. I loved last season's aztec print, and I think monochrome can look smart & casual which is great when you're packing light, and need outfit choices you can dress up and down. I have an obsession with Red Dresses, so when I saw this one on Asos I instantly fell in love. The shoes are adorable, and I'm on the look out for more summery flats. Reflection - 21 things before I'm 21 …

So 3 years ago I wrote a list of 21 things before I'm 21. In 9 days time I shall be turning 21.
As scary as that seems I am incredibly excited for it. The last 3 years have taught me a lot. I have met so many new people, and lost a couple. I've learnt that life can sometimes be fragile, and even in the darkest of moments you can find strength to pull through. My 21 things before I'm 21 wasn't just what I wanted to achieve. Despite not ticking everything off my list, I excelled in areas I didn't even know existed. It kept me aiming high, and allowed me to keep track of what was important.

#1 Train as a Make Up Artist - I did this! Yay! Back in 2011 I graduated as a Total Pro Artist. Make up has taken me to so many places, and I have met some incredibly awesome & talented people through this. I've gone to London & Paris Fashion week. In September I'm hoping to be backstage at New York. (Excited much).

#2 Learn To Drive - Yeh, sort of didn't do this. I got a job in my town, I worked a lot in London. At present it isn't compulsory. But I will, soon … hopefully be behind the wheel.

#3 Live Somewhere By Myself - I did this, big tick. I had a very compact little studio apartment in London. It was only a short let, but it taught me so much.

#4 Live in Two Cities - When I was writing this list I was with a guy at the time, and I honestly thought by the time I was 21 I would've moved to a city closer to him. But blah. I experienced London, and I've visited the girls at Uni. I'm content with that.

#5 Organise all my photographs - Yeh this didn't exactly happen, perhaps I could do it in the next 10 days?! Hmm. Watch this space.

#6 Buy A Car - Ha! To look at whilst I imagine I can drive. No didn't do that either. Oh wells.

#7 Learn to Bake the Perfect Cupcakes - I tried baking, I ate a lot of cake. I'm going to email a Chef now for a recipe. Let's see how that goes.

#8 Travel - Well yes I did travel, I flew on a plane, was horrendously sea sick on a boat, and took an over night coach to Paris that took 13 hours. I'm off to Paris in 8 days, and then flying to Majorca 13 days later. I have a long list of places I want to visit so perhaps each year I'll tick another off the list.

#9 Read More - I downloaded the Kindle app when I started this list, and I've completed many books. So I guess that's a big tick there.

#10 Go on a date/ be asked on a date - This was quite awkward when I wrote this list. I did have a boyfriend. I guess it was a subtle hint for him to take me on a date. Oops. Nontheless I did get invited on a couple of dates after said relationship, and I had a swell time. From Learning to use chop sticks, Sushi restaurants, Foreign films, meeting his family (on the first date!!) to awkward situations where your manager is on the table next to you. It's been an experience. But fun. So tick.

#11 Meet New People - I've met so many amazing people. It's been incredible. From Events to Fashion Week. I've made some beautiful make up friends, and met some of my favourite YouTubers. It's been awesome. I've become even closer to my best friends and I love them all to bits.

#12 Bake a Creme Brûlée - Tick. This was one of my proudest moments. It was beautiful.

#13 Spend more time with my Parents - Tick. The past 3 years have been challenging for my family. But my Parents like always have been a rock for us all. I make a conscience effort to spend dinner with them regularly when I'm not on the late shift at work. My Father has taken a liking to blog photography, and thanks to him I have a personal photographer for my fashion posts. Yay!

#14 Say Yes More - I guess this one has helped me achieve a lot more than I originally thought. It's been the best decision I've ever made. Taken me to places I've always wanted to go. Pushed me to do things I probably wouldn't have done. My anxiety went through a phase of being really bad, but this has made me realise I can do a lot of things. I just have to say Yes.

#15 Hug People More - I've never been one to initiate a hug. But now I regularly hug people, especially friends & family. Not strangers, that would be a little bit bold (insert photo of me & a free hug board - I bet that was what you were expecting ha!) I'm still quite socially awkward with hugs. Especially when I think it's just a hug, but then they go in for a cheeky peck on the cheek. One day I will master this graciously.

#16 Get a Massage - Hmm. I did have one. Thanks to uawieuawb <--- yes him. But I still need one. Offers welcome. The day I meet a man who is willing to happily give me a massage I will marry him.

#17 Take More Photographs - I don't stop. I've become obsessed, I take photographs of everything. Extra big tick for this one.

#18 Have a regular manicure - Tick. I trained in nails during my AOFM course. I've had a shellac done which I liked, definitely going to book another one before I go on holiday in June, painting my nails are the bane of my life.

#19 Eat 5 Fruit & Vegetables a day - Tick tick tick tick tick. I have become quite fruit & veg obsessed, I love salads. The last year I have become quite health obsessed. It's been great! I feel so much better when I've been eating healthily (blogpost to follow soon)

#20 Watch More Films - Yes, tick. I subscribed to Love Film & Netflix, and I regularly watch films. Just need to try to start enjoying the cinema.

#21 Go To Paris - Interesting one, last year for my Birthday my boyfriend (at the time) said he would take me, a week later I was off to Paris for fashion week. Fashion week was stressful, tiring but AMAZING. I soaked in the Parisian atmosphere. Fell in love with macaroons. And realised male models are incredibly attractive. A few months later I visited again, super eager to go back - but I had quite an upsetting visit. The guy just didn't know how to do Paris. I cried. He cried. I left feeling disheartened, knowing the relationship probably wouldn't last. So because of this hiccup. On the 19th May - 1 day before my 21st Birthday I'm flying to Paris with the one person who I know would love the city just as much as me - my best friend Sian. I will be turning 21 in Paris! (I just squealed) I've never been so excited in my life!
