So I wanted to make a decent header online due to the I am not a designer issue, and I stumbled with a place where I could not only do that but sooo much more.

So I got into GRsites logo maker and the fonts were so lame I thought I had wasted my time altogether. Turns out they offer an option to buy more fonts(obviously) or to either fetch one online and use it with their tool. I did just that and came up with the header for this site which I am sure no competent designer would approve of, but It works for me...for now. I used Bubbleboy font instinctively but I know some stuck up would point out how choosing the right font IS KEY blah blah.....

I really got annoyed at trying to find a header maker tool that would let me upload the font I wanted+make a pattern from scratch so this site I must recommend. It has no actual fonts you might want to use but it has useful features of wide variety. For super free fonts I like UrbanFonts because their stuff is great and it loads fast. PIzzadude has fonts that will amuse you and 300 freeware jewels have been released for our convenience by them. I

f not on their site they will point the way to finding them; go to 1001fonts right away where they usually end up. Tom Murphy has cool fonts made by himself at divide by zero, clipart.com has a huge database available on subscription basis.

If what you seek is something more specific, underground, geeky or just reminiscent of youthful sprite, I suggest check out Graphical Fonts and dig for peculiar treasures to be found somewhere between the attitude and darkness of the place. You might stumble into these:

Templates that don't suck, layouts, themes,blog backgrounds? pre made? free perhaps?

However not all is lost and after dedicating long hours to finding really good layouts, premade templates, themes backgrounds etc. I found some really hot spots to get them and not pay a dime. If you want to pay for premium ones it is a good idea as well, but I focus on sharing stuff everyone can use. These are basically chosen due to their aesthetic attributes and are by no means what is known as "adsense ready" etc. You will have to make some minor adjustments on ANY template for it to behave itself like a trained pet and even then the variables that could go wrong usually do. It would be easier if they had an SEO, coding class at school, but they don't, and potential bloggers are stuck with social studies.

----PannaSmontata's templates are quite feminine but very tasteful. Think foreign feel...

----Blog smadeinspa in has wicked templates so modern and original. Unusually cool.

----Gisele Jaquenod has the loveliest templates on the web; you just want to squeeze her cheeks!

Remember: Wordpress themes can only be implemented on wordpress platform if you BUY credits and upgrade or host your own blog, and the new Blogger Beta uses xml templates so don't waste your time falling in lust with those cute old html themes you cannot upload to blogspot anymore.

Like I said, this is basic stuff mom never taught you, nor did you learn at sunday school. I'm no expert nor wish to boast of being one and what I can advice is pretty basic; perhaps you will assume I think you are short of grey matter for not knowing basic stuff like this beforehand. IT is not enough that you gather all that Heidi-from-the-prairie spring spirit and set out to make a blog thinking your innocence will remain intact. No no no, your innocence is about to be devoured by a forest full of vicious, hairy, stinky and greedy creatures. That is, unless you start exploiting your best skills and turbo boost yourself out of the blogging danger zone as fast as you can.

I don't even know what that means...

But I am thinking, take those SEO pills, get better at ninja-writing posts that excel amongst the dullness of your opponents, go Sun Tzu on the competition´s ass and take out the notebook because it is ANCHOR TEXT OPTIMIZATION time apparently! Yippeee! If so many moronic people have blogs and 9-year olds are discussing blackhat SEO techniques with their parents at dinnertime, I guess I'll push the boundaries of my last functional neuron.

Anchor text optimization should not be used to re-direct your readers or customers to unrelated pages, on the contrary it is an aid we bloggers have to make the experience more in depth and valuable for the reader. It is a valuable tool to use when a sale of a product or service is the whole point of your post and your reader is fully aware of this.

It is unethical to send our loved audience to some stupid scammy place out there where they will be hurt. A reader wronlgy re-directed is a reader lost! Everybody knows that...

Think about this: Anchor Text Enhances the Relevance of the Target Page

If you were to link to a fellow blogger's site from an article related to a topic he or she has previously covered, you would try to make a kick ass anchor text that could lead to their content or their website.

Can you almost grasp that transient yet exhilarating high you get before setting out to do something you really wanted but have been procrastinating for too long?

This wondrous feeling my friends, is what drives the lives of the most important and popular bloggers out there, what really makes grand websites stand out above others. Adding a favicon to your blog requires knowing a favicon is an abbreviation for website icon(oh!) and also understanding it makes your address much cuter. Think of it as a petit image signature that follows your website everywhere its pages are opened.

Where? Ah yes in order to imagine where this icon appears once you decide to implement it, just look at the address or menu bar on top of your page, tab and on the bookmark listing for it. Take any website as an example an it is most probable they use a distinctive favicon that might even be flash animated for effect. This little image catches the eye of potential readers, buyers or just click-through visitors of your site. I made mine as 3 bars of different colors; simple yet the effect of seeing that small frame beside the blog's title is mesmerizing to me.

However uploading a .ico file to blogspot for example is not that easy because it is not an image file, so it is required to host it at a given url to then be able to specify the location and insert in the right place of your template's html.

Instead Of removing the whole AdSense code. Change the google_ad_client to something like "pub_this_is_a_test" and add this line( google_adtest = "on"; ) to the code and than you are free to reload your page as many time as you want. You can also Add a static image instead of the real add. Google provides static images of different add formats.

d. Google analyzes the first few lines of your content and through those it determines what type of ads to show. Make those lines bold or give heading tags to them so that you get the relevant ads. Also try to syndicate the titles of your posts to get better CTR.

e. Your search box should be placed in a very visible place and the search results should open in a new window because users will lost track of your post if the search results open in the same window. To do that add this (add target="google_window") to your Form tag.
