Chaos Daemon Codex Review - Khorne Artefacts, Stratagems, Army Rules and Stratagies

Before we get into reviewing the units in the Codex, I think its good to talk about the war gear, stratagems, warlord traits, artefacts etc. All of these smaller things throughout the Codex seem small, but each one has an affect on all the units within the Codex.

I find it easier to discuss these items now, get the knowledge out there and when the review of the units comes out I can streamline each review without having to reference or explain all the rules.

So to start off we are going to talk about the things that affect the whole army:

Daemonic Abilities, Legions and Loci:

Abilities:

All Daemons have certain abilities that always affect them no matter what, for the Khorne units these
abilities are Daemonic, Unstoppable Ferocity, Daemonic Ritual.

40k Battle Report - 6th Ed Chaos Daemons Vs Dark Angels Game 2

2013-03-26T15:30:00.002-03:00

Dark Angels VS Chaos Daemons - 2000 Points - (March 16th, 2013)

A few days later and some adjustments to my list we go for round 2! I switched it up a bit and brought less HQ's and more Hounds and Crushers along with a Daemon Price. His list was a bit different as well, he dropped some Bikes and brought a unit of Tactical marines in a Rhino to hold an objective in his deployment zone. After the crap show that was the first game and my reserve rolls I figured I would change it up and relish the fact I could deploy my entire army on the board.

Here are the lists:

Daemons:

Bloodthirster - 50 points rewards

Karank

16x Bloodletter - Reaper upgrade, 20 points rewards

6 Bloodcrushers - Hunter upgrade, 20 points rewards

11 Flesh Hounds

Soul Grinder - Phlegm upgrade Mark of Khorne

Skull Cannon
Daemon Prince - Wings, Armour, Mark of Khorne, 40 points rewards

Dark Angels:

Belial

7 Terminators

5 Terminators

10 Marines with Rhino

10 Marines with Drop Pod

10 Marines with Drop Pod
Dreadnought with Multi-Melta, in a Drop Pod

3x Bike Squad

Nephilim Fighter

We rolled off and got the scouring and hammer and anvil.

In this game I kept nothing in reserves.

Dark Angels VS Chaos Daemons - 2000 Points - (March 12th, 2013)

I visited my friend after I had a chance to look over and decide what I wanted to do with the new Daemon Codex. For the first game I brought a ton of HQ's because that seemed to be the way they wanted it played, but I think I ended up bringing to many and playing the army the complete wrong way cause this game did not end well for me. I did get pictures for this game but I lost them some how. I decided to go back to my one love and play a Khorne army again.

Here are the lists:

Daemons:

Bloodthirster - 50 points rewards

2x Herald of Khorne - 30 points rewards, locus of wrath

Karank

Skulltaker

16x Bloodletter - Reaper upgrade, 20 points rewards, Instrument of Chaos

16x Bloodletter - Reaper upgrade, 20 points rewards

Skull Cannon

Dark Angels:

Azrael

7 Terminators

5 Terminators

10 Marines with Drop Pod

I kept one unit of Bloodletters in reserve, along with the Skull Cannon, Soul Grinder and Bloodthirster.

40k Battle Report - 750 point 6th Edition Tournament

2013-02-06T22:17:00.000-04:00

40k Battle Report - 750 Point Tournament

My local GW was holding a 750 point 40k tournament, so I decided to sign up with my Eldar. The tournament brought I believe 16 people or more. The rules were simple same FoC as usual and they would dicate the missions.

There were three different Tau armies, a Chaos Space Marine army, Dark Angels, Space Marines, Eldar, two Dark Eldar, and Imperial guard. I can not remember the rest of them.

Here was my list:

Farseer - Spirit Stones, Runes of Witnessing, Guide, Fortune, Singing Spear
10 Dire Avengers - Exarch, Dual S-Cat and Bladestorm
5 Fire Dragons
5 Pathfinders
Wave Serpent - Spirit Stones, Scatter Lasers
Wave Serpent - Spirit Stones, Scatter Lasers, S-Cannon

The action was pretty fast paced with it only being 750 points and they wanted to get 4 games in so there was no time for pictures.

I have been playing some games for the last few weeks with my Eldar but wanted to get some more painted (painted 7 vehicles in two weeks) before I took any pictures. I am far from done for painting but at least the vehicles look decent. I went to my buddies to play his space marine army for what might be his last time as he is (and you can see from some of the models) converting them to Dark Angels. So look out for some Dark angel batreps coming in the near future as well.

I am back for my first post of the new year and oddly enough its a Daemons again but I will have a Eldar post coming soon.

I went to my buddies to play a few games and we started off with Daemons vs GK, I brought an all Khorne list because that had the best chance of doing anything against the GK. Grey Knights vs Chaos Daemons - 6th Edition - 2000 Points - (July 28th 2012)

The regular GK player I play against is going out of the country for a month, so we decided to get one last game in before he heads out. He feels bad to keep bringing GK against my Daemons but I keep telling him I don't mind. So he brought his GK's for a couple last games before he leaves. This time I decided to go with a more Fluffy list, I brought all Khorne, which also will work out in my favour because I can get Blessing of the Blood God, which gives me a 2++ against force and physic weapons. But with the new preferred enemies I am still at a huge disadvantage. But these games are for fun so I am not worried.

Here are the lists:

Grey Knights
8 Terminators (Deep striking)
1 Land Raider
1 Gunship
Crowe
10 Purifiers w/ halbreds, hammers and psycannons

40k Battle Report - 500 point Combat Patrol Tournament

2012-06-16T16:59:00.001-03:00

The local GW store held a combat patrol tournament this week end, the rules are simple:

No named characters

Nothing with a 2+ Armour save

Nothing with more then 2 Wounds

Nothing with more then 33 Armour value all round

At least one troop choice

So I decided to enter and bring some Daemons to the party. I got the rules wrong and thought you had to bring one HQ and one Troop choice, so I would have liked to bring 3 Flamers instead of my Herald of Khorne but oh well.

Here is the list I brought:

8 Bloodletters

3 Bloodcrushers w/ Fury of Khorne and Instrument of Chaos

Herlad of Khorne /w Iron hide, Unholy Strength

I did not get any pictures for this because the games were fast and there was so much going on.

My preferred wave is:

8 Bloodletters

3 Bloodcrushers w/ Fury of Khorne and Instrument of Chaos

Second Wave:

8 Bloodletters

Herlad of Khorne /w Iron hide, Unholy Strength
