450 Main: Short starts against the gate in the middle of the pack.  When the gate drops, Short pulls out a 12^th place in the first turn.  Short works his way up to 11^th by lap 3.  Stewart get stuffs into the blocks causing a pile up, which advanced Short up to 6^th place.  Short was ahead of Dungey, and the two battle string for several laps.  He finished I 7^th place for the evening.

Shorty, on his Honda CRF450, sits seventh in the series and is one of only six riders to make the top ten in every single race this season.

Andrew’s looking forward to this weekend’s race up in Oakland, California and going to keep on pushing forward to get closer to that podium.

In the heat race, Short got 3rd place in the start, and worked his way up to pass second place running Mike Alessi.  In a rutted out turn, Short washed out his front end and went down.  He was able to recover to 5th place and advance to the main event.

Team Chaparral Honda’s Andrew Short got off to a poor start in the evening’s headliner but made some moves and ended up with a strong top ten finish.

“My jump wasn’t very good and I was buried off the start” said Short after the race ” I was fortunate to be able to get some guys, end the first lap in 13th and my work was cut out for me.”

Getting as high as eighth on the tricky and slick track, Short made a rare mistake late in the race and allowed one racer to get back by him thus the 9th place finish. In his heat race, the #29 Fly Racing-backed Short easily qualified 5th and went right to the main. It’s only two rounds down out of seventeen but right now Andrew sits in a tie for seventh in the very competitive 450SX class

With a sold out Anaheim Stadium, the first round of the Monster Energy Supercross series had an electric atmosphere in the pits and on the track. With so many great racers, it was a toss-up as to what was going to happen. Veteran racer Andrew Short has been through these things a time or to and knew that when things got crazy out there, keeping calm and carrying on is the way to go. On his factory Chaparral Honda CRF450, Short logged a fourth in his heat race to easily get into the 20-lap main event.

Once in the main Andrew started 8th, moved up a couple of spots and put together a solid main event to end up sixth. It was a great ride for Andrew as he and Jake Weimer shadowed each other out there throughout the race.

“I’m happy with my Anaheim 1 ride, it’s always crazy at this race and you never know what can happen” said Short after the race “I know that it’s a long series, you’ve got to get the starts and put yourself in a good position at all times. I’m happy, it could have been a lot worse and I know I have work to do to get onto the podium”

In Moto 1 Andrew Short started well and finished the first lap in 5^th place, but he would stay there long. In the next 3 laps Andrew made quick work of 3 of the 4 riders in front on him, moving into 2^nd place and setting the fastest lap time of the Moto while doing so. Short moved up on the 1^st place rider Ryan Dungey and the two would stay the same distance between one another for the next 15 minutes. As the Moto ran on, Andrew Short would unable to gain enough on the leader to attempt passing him and when the checked flag flew, Andrew Short would cross the line in 2^nd place.

Moto 2 started off with Andrew rounding turn one in 7^th place. Short would make some good moves to pass his way to 4^th place before thing would go for good to bad. As Short passed himself into 4^th place the rain began to fall and the hard packed soil of Steel City became more slippery lap after lap. Andrew started this Moto with tear-offs on his goggles and had run out just before the rain started and this left him with poor vision. Short slowed in a down hill section of the track, trying to see where he was going and a rider came up from behind and surprised him. The two riders would lock handlebars and both would go down very hard. Short did get up, but the motorcycle was too bent up to continue the Moto and Andrew Short was forced to retire from the 2^nd Moto and worst of all scoring no points.

Andrew Short started Moto 1 towards the front of the field of 40 riders and by the 5 minute mark had secured the 8th position. Just after this point in Moto 1, with all the close battling and high speeds the riders began to jockey around. The Moto was one of the best races of the season, not knowing who was going to finish up front and who was going to have a bad race late in the series. By the end of the 30-minute plus 2 lap Moto, Andrew Short came across the finish line in the 4th position.

After only a short 2-hour break the 2nd Moto of the 450 class rolled back into the start gate once again to finish off the day with another good race .
Andrew Short on his Chaparral Honda Works 450 took the holeshot as the gate dropped signaling the start of the 2nd Moto. Andrew would lead for the first couple of laps, but then made a couple mistakes and was passed by 3 riders and that quickly put Andrew Short in the 4th position. Then at the halfway point in the race, Short advanced into the 3rd spot. Andrew held on to the 3rd position all the way to the checked flag.

Scoring a 4th in Moto 1 and 3rd in Moto 2, Andrew Short stood on the podium again this season with 3rd overall. Another worthy note was that Andrew Short took control of 3rd in the Championship Points race at the Unadilla event. There are 2 more races and 4 Moto’s remaining in the 2012 Motocross series, but we feel confident that Andrew Short has put himself in a good position to finish this season out.

This weekend is another off weekend for the riders and team’s, before fighting it out in the last two events in 2012. The next race will be held at Steel City Pa. on September 1 and the next weekend the riders and teams will be back in California racing for the first time at Lake Elsinore Motocross Park on September 8th.
