Every check-up I make sure that I am always around and listen to the doctor. This morning I stayed at the waiting area instead of going inside and the doctor wandered where I am.

So I decided to go inside, my mu told the doctor already that I have a flu and that is the reason. When I entered the clinic, the doctor told e that I should take care of my health and immediately she checked on me after my nephew. When her stethoscope touched my body, memories flash back during those time when I used to go to her clinic. Still, the same pressure she put on my chest and back while checking. She even let me open my mouth like I was a little kid.

After checking, she gave me medicines which i also bought on her clinic. Very funny indeed to be checked again by my pediatrician on my 20's. Her treatment to me was the same as before . My memories kept on flashing back that made me smile even if we left the clinic already.

On that instant I felt my age. I felt that I am no longer a child and that I'm very far from the age that I imagine which is indeed true. Oh what a day!

Life has really and age, I just forgot to be with my age. =)

But to find out last monday my mum and his peers will have a meeting today also.

I was hoping that she can cancel it so that I could go. I could not just leave because if Mum decides to go to the meeting, no one will be taking care of my little nephew. But then, she still went on and their meeting started at 4:30 PM ND i asked her what time she will be home she said around 7:00 PM.

She told me not to worry because, our family friend would take care of my nephew. Although, we are that close I feel bad leaving my nephew to someone else.

So, I decided not to attend the wedding. I think I should prefer my nephew over the wedding. I can't just leave him. I'm just really upset with her, I think she's inconsiderate today.

I could never turn back time to attend a wedding of my friend. I need to be online at 10:30 AM because we will be having conference with my boss online. Woke up early because our neighbor is very noisy and that is why I decided to go to Dunkin Donut and have my breakfast their while waiting for my boss.

I just ordered a hot chocolate and a sandwich. I totally miss eating at Dunkin Donut because during college days, I remember eating breakfast at Dunkin Donut before going to school sometimes or spending late night studying my lessons.

What is nice about my hometown Polomolok is that they have Dunkin Donuts already in town and no need to go to General Santos City anymore. Its accessible and less expensive in terms of transportation. Finally, when my boss asked me where I am and told him I'm in Dunkin Donut, he laughed. He did not anticipate that we have it in our town. Hahaha...

I told him I'm having breakfast at Dunkin.

Sent from my Sony Ericsson Aspen™

Actually, Z's father took the flight at around 3:00 in the afternoon. We just woke up early because the airport is a bit far from where we lived.

Left the house at 12:30 noon and I can see them, the father and son savouring the time left for them.
Fast forward...
Airport setting...

Baggage check-in - CHECK

Z's dad was talking and playing with his little boy while waiting for his boarding. My heart aches seeing them together walking around and feels like my little nephew knew and understand that he and his dad will not see each other for quite sometime.

Z and his dad at the aiport

Kiss and smelling his little boy and before his dad really went inside, he looked at his little boy and called him "doi doi, bye bye".

Ouch! That moment was really an ouch. It was so painful seeing both of them. Even if we were in the taxi cab heading home the feeling stucks in my head and in my emotion. Can't get over it.
He said he really likes eating pork because they seldom eat it in Abu Dhabi.

We ate in our kubo house plus the windy atmosphere makes it like we are in the beach. We seldom do this only if there is a visitor or my sister is around.

But I think this is better compare before when I work in a corporate world. I don't have a time with my family even for a simple lunch or dinner out. Either I was working away or too tired when I come home. My life now is more relaxing when I started working online.

I can spend lunch with them or go to the park with my mum and nephew. What a life! My brother-in-law took a a 9 days vacation leave just to see his son who is now four months and experience the joy that Z brings to the family.

It was Saturday morning (Jan. 28), we were in a hurry to go to the airport to be there in his daddy's arrival. We were just on time by the time he arrived and he saw me immediately while I was approaching the building. Then Z's dad and me walked towards the taxi cab where Z and my mum was. Mum went out from the taxi carrying Z and his dad was kissing him immediately.

Z was sleeping at the moment but eventually woke up when we reach the taxi and while we are heading home. The sad part of my sister’s giving birth was that they only spend one month together because my sister left a after her baby reached one month. My sister is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Abu Dhabi and she really needs to go back because she has an existing contract at the Hilton Hotel.

Now, little Z is left under our (Mum & I) care after she left. It was 20 years ago when mum had took care of an infant and now we have one. Having Z on the house lightens up the atmosphere in the house. Z’s smile and laughter gives color to our daily life and most especially to my Mum who is very fond of him. Photos in my Facebook account were all about Z’s daily picture and my friends would laugh at me because it is like I’m the mother of Z. Indeed very funny because at my age, most likely I can be a mother.

We already celebrated our Christmas and New Year with Z and more to come.

Z will be with us until he reach one year because he needs to complete all the vaccination needed by his body.

Our little Z, our little angel…

Well, I'd like to start by welcoming my year 2012 although I've shared this thoughts on my blog at Shoestring Lifestyle and I would like to the same here.

Welcome year 2012!!!

Year 2011 had been challenging to me but in the end I survived. From those experience I have things that I am looking forward that I want to do, get improved and achieved this year 2012.
Here are some of what I look forward for year 2012:

1. I can see that this year will be more meaningful to me because of my new playmate in the house, no other than my nephew.
2. I am looking forward to get more projects online since I became more emotionally attached to my mother making it harder for me to leave the house if none of siblings are around.
3. I want to finish my Masteral degree which I started last November 2011.
4. More travel experience together with my mom, nephew ZJ and Emem.
5. I want to improve more on my writing. I want to write as much as possible as I can.
6. I want to be physically fit this 2012. (Seriously!)
7. I want to have this driving license once and for all.
8. I am planning to celebrate my birthday in a meaningful way.

So far, these are my priorities even though I have so many in mind but I think this will be the most important thing that needs focus.

I tried to retrieve the appearance of this blog and even my sister helped me, still it didn’t change. So I temporarily abandoned it and my sister encouraged me to create a new one but then I miss writing on this blog. Last night, I was checking my new blog and I visited my old blog and decided to delete the gadgets that I installed hoping that it will return to its original style but unfortunately it did not.
So I decided to leave it simple without any gadgets at all. It is not messy anymore like before and so I decided to continue updating this blog. I have lots of things to write to this blog!

Looking forward to this year. There are some places in the Philippines where you can see the Spanish style houses and there are places where the influenced of Spanish is still visible. Since grade school, I always read in the history book about Vigan and they have been considered as one of the UNESCO World Hertitage site. They preserve the old houses that will still remind people that Spanish indeed colonized the Philippines.

Vigan is quite far from our place but thanks to the promo fares of Cebu Pacific I was able to go back to Vigan again. I've been to Vigan when I was in high school but that was work-related so I wasn't able to enjoy that much. This time I visited the place with my mom who is in her 60s and she is very much excited to visit the place because she haven't visited the place and heard lot about Vigan since she was young.

So from Gensan we took the plane going to Manila and upon reaching Manila we went to Partas Bus station located at Aurora, Cubao, Quezon City. From NAIA Terminal 3, we took the airport loop bus and it can be seen when you get out from the building. The fare is Php 20.00 per head and we take off from the last stop at Pasay Taft-Eda Avenue. From there, we took MRT going to Cubao (Php 15.00 ticket) then ride a tricycle going to Partas Bus Station. We took the Laoag Trip at around 3:30 PM and arrived Vigan City at 12:00 AM. The fare going to Vigan City from Cubao is PHP 685.00 but mom's fare was cheaper compared to mine because she availed Senior Citizen's privelege (LOL... that is the advantage when you reach 60 years old).

From the terminal we took tricycle to reach the Grandpa's Inn where decided to stay. We got the fan room which is around PHP 900.00 with free breakfast and again we didn't pay the 900.00 pesos since mom availed her senior citizen again so I only pay PHP810.00 (not a big discount but not bad at all) including the breakfast we had. What I like most is that they have a high speed internet which enables me to work even if I am travelling.

At the living room of Grandpa's Inn

So here is the itinerary I prepared for our Vigan Tour. The tour should be one day only but I'm travelling with my mom so I should consider her health and movement. She cannot take any fast walking anymore and has a problem riding the tricycles in Vigan because its so small that you really have to bend. Mom hated it when she tried to bend and her knees were getting weaker.

This was our itinerary:
Morning:
8:00 - Breakfast (its included in our accommodation)
9:00 - Visit Museums
9:30 - Plaza Burgos, Plaza Salcedo & Cathedral of Vigan
11:00 - Baluarte

Afternoon:
12:30 - Lunch @ Hidden Garden
1:30 - Pagbuburnay (Pottery making)
2:30 - St. Augustine Church
3:30 - Back to Grandpa's Inn
5:30 - Heritage Village (Calle Crisologo)

One must not forget to visit the Calle Crisologo because you will see the old houses. Its a long street where you can see the old houses.

My place is not really like the big city but it has a good flow of electricity and internet except to those times that the electric company has to shut down the electricity for the change of power. It is really pain in the head when the company has to change the power without notifying us and when the power is interrupted I have so many things that are pending.

I can say that this is one of the disadvantages when you are working at home since you will be greatly affected if there are power interruptions. Though sometimes our power interruption is not that long but what don't makes it pain in the head is that they didn't give any notifications. That is why I bought a device named Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) where I can plug all the things I needed to make things going even if I encounter power interruption.

An uninterruptible power supply, also uninterruptible power source, UPS or battery/flywheel backup, is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency power to a load when the input power source, typically the utility mains, fails. A UPS differs from an auxiliary oremergency power system or standby generator in that it will provide instantaneous or near-instantaneous protection from input power interruptions by means of one or more attached batteries and associated electronic circuitry for low power users, and or by means of diesel generators and flywheels for high power users. The on-battery runtime of most uninterruptible power sources is relatively short—5–15 minutes being typical for smaller units—but sufficient to allow time to bring an auxiliary power source on line, or to properly shut down the protected equipment.

While not limited to protecting any particular type of equipment, a UPS is typically used to protect computers, data centers, telecommunication equipment or other electrical equipment where an unexpected power disruption could cause injuries, fatalities, serious business disruption or data loss. (Source: Wikipedia)

Lately, buying a UPS did really help me. I am able to save my work before the computer shut down and my internet connection does not disconnect immediately since I plug it to my UPS. It is really been a great help for me this days especially when we have meetings online and there's a power interruption, I can easily notify my employer that we have a change power or short power interruption without notice and only my UPS functions. In that case, my employer has a time to reschedule the meeting with me or we just wait for the power to come back with my UPS covering the short loss of power.

Well, as explained by the employee of SSS, its because she has bigger contributions. My sister is availing the flexi-fund of SSS where you can pay more than what is required and I wanted to upgrade the same as her.

So, I went to the SSS since its time to pay and I decided that I will have my contribution bigger than before. So, I asked for the form and fill it out and the amount, I changed it from my usual contribution but when I reached the cashier, I told her that I will be changing contribution. Then she checked in the system and told me that I cannot avail automatically and I should fill up the form and go to counter 6.

Then I looked at the counter 6 but all I can see is like the unending line, so I told the cashier that I will settle on my usual contribution. I was too lazy to fall in line and find it time consuming that is why I did not bother to upgrade it anymore. But the cashier notice that I am hesitant to fall in line, she then gave me the option.

In order to upgrade my SSS contribution I should not automatically upgrade it from lower contribution to a higher contribution. So, I started the step-by-step upgrade and I am hoping to reach that flexi-fund also. I think its a better investment than paying a thousand bill for my cellphone postpaid plan. Instead of paying that much to my postpaid plan, I want to divert it to FLEXI-FUND of SSS.

Sounds practical and useful. =)

"Good Mornight" is a combination of good morning and good night. Most of my virtual friends or what you call cyber officemates normally gave their greetings in this way when they leave the cyber office or the team.

It became a habit to say Good Mornight for those who will leave early like those online worker who normally has a time difference of 12 hours, 15 hours, etc... from Philippine time. I find it amusing when we greet that or say our goodbyes because the term was created because of the time difference.

Well, I think sooner or later if the population of those who are working at home in an online world increases then I guess there will be new words or trends that will be created to address online world.

I am just done with my work and I'm working on a negative 15 hours time difference I think. So I have already say my "Good Mornight" to my colleagues and friends out their in Skype and Gmail (these are the common applications we use for our daily communications).

So, Good Mornight everyone as I'll be sleeping after doing this blog. =)
I do not forget to thank the Almighty for letting me work at home.

Good Mornight readers! =)
So here are the things that I want to share some advantages of working at home.

Photo Credit: Image by BNP Design Studio at http://ClipartOf.com/74434

I can sleep right after I work. This is the best part that I really like most of working at home. I can really sleep right after I work since the bed is just beside my computer. =) Love it!

Don't have to wake up early. It is like I'm the boss of my own working schedules although there are certain jobs that I need to work on that specific time but then I don't have to wake up early to prepare for work. I don't need to wake up just to travel.

Got a bigger savings, I think =). I think I saved a lot of money or should I say I can save some of my earnings in my online work. Here are some of what I have save:

Room rental. I used to rent a room when I work away from home since I haven't tried working near my house. Also, I saved from buying things that I needed most in my room like electric fans, bed, pillows, etc...

Transportations. I spend a lot in my transportation because aside from the basic transportation from and to my working place, I also spend going to malls or other places that should not be in my list. So, I think I saved a lot from this and really really awesome! =)

Foods. Food is really one of the biggest part of my budget that I think I was able to cut down plus I have been eating healthy now that I am working at home. Before, I used to eat in a fast food chains or buy some unhealthy foods because I am too lazy to cook for myself.

Clothes/Shoes/Make-up/Accessories. Well, I am not really fun of buying clothes, shoes, make-up or accessories even when I was working. I just buy the basic one like my corporate attire and just jeans and regular make-ups & accessories for myself. But now I've saved from it because I don't dress that much when working at home. =)

    4. More on Family time. I think this is the best part of working at home because I am able to spend more time to my Mom who is already retired and in her golden years. 24/7 I can see her and talk to her and same also with her to me.

    5. I can Travel anytime. I really love travelling and it has been my relaxation when I'm so stress. Working at home is same as also that I can work as long as I have an internet connection and my computer with me. So I can really travel anytime I want.

Photo Credit: Image by BNP Design Studio at http://ClipartOf.com/211070

Photo Credit: Image by designbella at http://ClipartOf.com/74690

So far, these are the things that benefits me while I am working at home. So great! Ooops... may I add that I can give time to myself to do running, swimming and other outdoor activities which limits me before when I was working in the company.

I decided to do part time jobs at first by writing articles and then later on I was hired to do virtual assistance or commonly known as Virtual Assistant. It is like just working as a secretary but the thing is its virtual. Then I was hired to do HR related jobs which was really in relation with my previous work. Accepting it was not that really hard, in fact I love the job being offered to me.

So how am I working at home? I think I am able to manage myself working at home although there are certain adjustments at first because of the time and work place itself. At first, it was really hard because my mom do not like this job of mine since Mom want me to have a typical job (e.g. going to the office, wearing suit, etc...). But I do understand Mom, she is more concerned of my daily income or in general my salary because knowing that it is online there is a side of it that it might not be a permanent job and the benefits also compared with the employee in the company.

But there are advantages of working at home that Mom and I realized. Since my Mom is in her golden ages and had her retirement already I can be able to check on her regularly unlike before that I am really miles apart from her and the communication we have is through mobile phone only. We talked everyday but we don't see each other and that's the sad part of working away from Mom.

Since, she is the only one living in her house I really find it advantage on my part working at home. I could really say that the technology has brought lots of advantage on different aspects that is useful to everyday living and also it become practical in terms of financial aspect.

Last Friday, my mom and I went to see a dermatologist and she scheduled me to undergo some derma thing.

I will not be able to run like what I did last time. I spotted the capitol as a good spot to run.

So, I took around 3 rounds of running the area but not that satisfied because from time to time I stop because there were dogs nearby and I'm afraid that they will bite me. Hehehe...

In fact, it was a perfect place for me to do some running because I love the place.

Waking up early in the morning to see the sunrise and run along by the bay is a perfect spot. We went home again to Mama's hometown because she needs to deal with some important family matters. I tag along as her personal assistant (hehehe...) and I did not forget to bring my running shoes of course.

It was early morning the day after we arrived and I took my running shoes and walk through the bay. It was around 2 kilometer from the house of my Uncle, where we stay. Then I decided to run in the area while Mama was having brisk walking.

After the run I asked my mother to take some photo for me as a souvenir. =) I'm really having hard time running because first I need to loss some weight and second I need discipline to be able to commit in running. This is what I want and this is my gift for myself. I want something significant this year because last year was a disaster.

I am praying and hoping that I can really run for the marathon as a beginner and I hope this is the start of my new journey in life.

One year of pain and insanity that I had overcome. Those times when I was really in the dark and I was insane at that time. I felt like I had no one to run too because everybody has its own pains in life.

I do not like this month. It brings me pain and sadness that no one can ease even my family. They were incapable at that moment and only think of their own miseries in life.
I'm suppose to wake up at 5:00 in the morning but woke up at 5:30 in the morning. The sun was not out yet when I started walking.

Cloudy morning when I started my run

As a part of my warm up I decided to walk from our house down to the plaza. From the plaza I started my run up to the cemetery. Its not that scary since its early in the morning and its a memorial garden so its spacious and really have a place to jog.

At the Matutum Memorial Garden Cemetery

I had five rounds before I stop. Funny thing is, I ave an application in my phone called Walkmate. Walkmate will count your steps while holding that mobile. The healthy goal is ten thousand (10,000) but I only made four thousand and sixty nine (4069).

I think I was not that satisfied with my run , I want to do more but I know I am not that physically fit yet to exceed on my limit. Tired but I feel worthy of that tiredness.

Lesson for my second day:

Bring bottle of water. I forgot to bring bottle of water, good thing there is an open bakeshop already who sells bottle of water. I thought I will be dehydrated.. =)

Until tomorrow. Since I am also suffering from insomnia, I tried to sleep early to wake up early.

Waking up at 5:00 in the morning is very unusual for me because this is normally my sleeping hours and I know that it is not healthy. So, I guess committing myself to running is a good way to reverse my sleeping habits.

Today was very simple. I just had 5 minutes of walk and 1 minute jog in pace and I repeatedly did it for three times before I run for 20 minutes. And now I feel very tired and makes me want to stop.

Another try again tomorrow.
