I couldn’t help but think how interesting those statements were when I was a sophomore in high school. Mr. Saunders was a stickler for manners, respect, honor, and dignity. As I’m sitting in Tresidder at Stanford University working on some projects, a nice and polite woman sits next to me to do some work on her laptop during a break from the conference she is attending. Later, another attendee of said conference (I rarely have an opportunity to use “said” in that way so I thought I’d give it a try. It wasn’t what I thought it would be.) sits next to her to discuss a few things and get a breather from the all-day event. Three times in 10 minutes he yawns annoyingly audibly with no concern for those around him. I got annoyed, but I didn’t let it get to me. It just gave me another topic to write about. Thanks for the inspiration, Patrick C. Too bad you didn’t have Mr. Saunders as your English teacher. You would have learned a thing or two about prose, stanzas, and manners.

Come on, that’s absurd. Really? No no, I think there are times when each of us is a “wreck”. Or at least there are times when each of us goes through a wreck-like period. Well, it’s not so much a wreck-like period but a period of uncertainty and confusion and doubt and general blah-ness and…or maybe it’s not facing what I should be facing. Maybe I’ve faced it and it keeps facing me back. Can something face you back after you’ve already faced it? These are the kinds of unnecessary philosophical questions that drop in my mind.

I should go play more golf. No, golfing lends to too much time for thinking. That’s all I do, think. And wonder. And ponder. And every other synonym for thinking. Maybe that’s the wreck, the thinking. The thinking is a wreck and I think I can’t do a thing about it. Maybe the thing to do is to stop thinking.

I better go grab a snack and think about it. Peace.
