The San Diego Chargers have added former Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Adam Terry to the roster today. Terry was cut by the Colts on Friday leading up to the final major roster cutdown. Terry is a 6-foot-8, 335-pound former second-round draft pick from Syracuse. He wasn’t tendered as a restricted free agent by the Ravens. He didn’t play in any games last season due to a knee injury that required surgery.

The Chargers had a few surprise cuts up their sleaves today as the whittled their roster down to the NFL mandatory 53-man limit.

Some of the big names that aren’t on that roster are rookie quarterback Jonathan Crompton, veteran cornerback Nathan Vasher, veteran wide receiver Josh Reed, and rookie running back Curtis Brinkley.

These are the rest of the players that didn’t make the roster, in alphebetical order: WR Seyi Ajirotutu, T Brady Bond, TE Richie Brockel, TE Dedrick Epps, WR Richard Goodman, C Jeff Hansen, DE Derrick Jones, FB Billy Latsko, C Ryan McDonald, RB Shawnbrey McNeal, LB Mike Nixon, K Nick Novak, P Glenn Pakulak, T Nick Richmond, CB Traye Simmons, G Cameron Stephenson, WR Jeremy Williams, and LB Kion Wilson.

Only five rookies, including two undrafted, made the Chargers’ final roster cuts. Those rookies include RB Ryan Mathews, LB Brandon Lang, DT Cam Thomas, S Darrell Stuckey, and OT Ryan Otterson.

As more teams start to cut excess from their rosters, expect the Chargers to make some moves, specifically in the WR and OL departments. Stay tuned.

As was expected, veteran wide receiver Josh Reed has been released, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Reed was initially brought in to provide some depth and veteran guidance with Vincent Jackson still holding out, but has been weak during the preseason, only managing to catch two balls for 25 yards.

Matters got even worse for Reed after the Chargers recently traded for veteran receiver Patrick Crayton, which made Reed expendable.

More cuts are set to come as the day rolls on. According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers will be releasing the final, 53-man roster at 3 p.m. today, so be sure to check back then for the final roster.

The Seahawks want to dump their big free agent pick up from a season ago, wide out wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, since he’s not worth the $7 mil he’s due to make this season.

There’s quite a few teams that could be in the mix for T.J., and Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Vikings, Jets, Chargers, and Cardinals have all made offers to acquire the wide receiver.

The Seahawks are looking to deal the 32-year old wide receiver, but his guaranteed base salary is not making that easy. The Seahawks have informed Houshmandzadeh that if they cannot trade him, they will release him.

Houshmanzadeh signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Seahawks last March. That deal included $15 million in guaranteed money, mostly in the form of base salaries. In his first season with the Seahawks, Houshmandzadeh caught 79 passes for 911 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Former Lions first-round pick Mike Williams is expected to start opposite Deion Branch when the Seahawks open the 2010 regular season against the 49ers on September 12th.

It’s now September 4th, and the cutoff date for roster cuts is upon us.

Today is the day that wide receiver Vincent Jackson must be traded in order to avoid being suspended an extra three games due to the roster exempt status he received from the Chargers. If he isn’t traded, he will have to miss an extra three games to go along with the three he’s already been suspended for by the NFL.

If he isn’t traded or doesn’t sign his restricted free agent tender, he will have to come back by Week 7 in order to accrue another year towards free agency.

The time has finally come to see just how far Jackson is willing to take this, or if the A.J. Smith and the Chargers organization even have the cajones to trade Jackson at all.

From: Alex Weston at CowboysGab

ESPN is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have sent WR Patrick Crayton to the San Diego Chargers for a seventh round pick in the 2011 NFL Entry Draft. Crayton, who was due to make $2 million this season, has voiced his displeasure about his position on the team since they drafted first round pick Dez Bryant in April.

Crayton made a couple of comments like “I’m the insurance policy” and “If I’m here in September I’ll be surprised”. It comes as no shock that Crayton was moved. The Cowboys have been impressed with some of their youngsters in camp like Kevin Ogletree, Jesse Holley and Manny Johnson. Rumours had been going around that fellow receiver Sam Hurd could also be moved, but with Crayton moving on, Hurd should be safe.

The move of Crayton will be a lift for the Chargers who need some quality depth at the position since it looks like last year’s star wideout Vincent Jackson will not be back with the team this season and possibly ever. Crayton brings great hands and a firey attitude to the Chargers who no doubt took a look at the receiver when they played back in week 3 of the preseason.

TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company, a subsidiary of the adidas Group, has introduced a new line of hats and visors, which features the primary colors and logos of all 32 NFL teams. Golfers across the country can now fly the colors of their favorite teams on the golf course (not on Sundays of course).

Fans can choose from all 32 NFL teams at on-course and off-course retail locations, in addition to select sporting goods retailers. If you are a displaced fan and don’t think you will be able to find your favorite team locally, go to www.taylormadegolfgear.com for a complete selection.

Each hat and visor will feature an NFL team’s logo blazoned on the left panel. The team’s name will also be stitched onto the left corner of the hat/visor. The TaylorMade logo will appear in 3D embroidery on the front panel of the hat.

The hats will be available at retail at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $27.99.
