Pizza Hut Strikes Again

Tonight, of course, was Superbowl Sunday. One of, if not the worst nights in America to order a pizza from any pizza place. But we decided, like the idiots we are, that we wanted to have pizza for dinner. So we tried Papa John’s website. The problem was, their website wasn’t loading – click the login link and get taken to a page not found error. So many people on their site that it was over loaded! So we went over to Pizza Hut’s website.

Now upon logging in on Pizza Hut’s site, I was given a pop-up that asked if I would like to take advantage of a coupon that allowe me to “Take advantage of this deal and every pizza will automatically go into your cart for $10.” (emphasis mine) Now it did specify that it would $11 per pizza for stuffed crust. Fine. We started to order 2 stuffed crust pizzas. Now I noticed that the box that showed I was using a coupon said I had one item left to purchase using the coupon but thought nothing of it – until I tried to check out and discovered that the 2nd pizza was full price. FULL. PRICE. So we canceled the order, logged out, logged back in thinking maybe it was just a glitch. Nope. It happened again.

So I twittered @pizzahut and asked them why their coupon said every pizza when you could only get one. I also posted a lengthy comment detailing not only my irritation with the coupon issue but the issue regarding our visit to Pizza Hut the other day. You see, I have a problem with having issues with a business twice in one week.

I was not surprised to see that there were a lot of comments about people not getting pizzas for $10 or $11 dollars – some people were even being told by Pizza Hut managers that the larges were $12 not $10, people not being told that their pizzas were going to cost extra for being “Super Specialty” pizzas (the ad was for ANY toppings – which truthfully SHOULD include double toppings and super specialty) or double toppings, etc. So it doesn’t surprise me that their wording and the actual coupon usage weren’t the same.

We went with Papa John’s. I got in, got it ordered, but the order got stuck…so I called to see if it had actually gone through – it hadn’t, so I ordered over the phone, got both pizzas for $10 each AND the gal promised that she’d watch to make sure another order for us didn’t come in and if it did, she’d cancel it. Now THAT is service. Pizza Hut isn’t going to be getting our business again any time soon, that’s for sure. Maybe their president/CEO/COO should do an Undercover Boss and see what REALLY goes on with the company.

Go Colts….

Seriously, I am for the Colts in the Super Bowl this year – even though they’re losing at the moment. I don’t know – I just don’t care for the Saints at all. Just not my thing. I like the Steelers & Colts. That’s who I like. Steelers mostly though. Of course, my main sport is NASCAR – I even have a blog for NASCAR not that I update it all that often. That’s changing though with the start of the new season.

It’s funny that I’m even watching the Super Bowl though – although I did last year and I watched the whole game no less – because I really am not a big football fan. I prefer to watch wrestling or NASCAR, not football. A lot of this is due to my dad and I watching football together (49ers/Raiders/Redskins) when I was little – after he died, I wasn’t interested anymore. But now?? I can’t wait for the game to be over. The Colts are losing by 14 points with 35 seconds left. Just put us out of our misery.

Take Two

So BFL, her mom, and I have all been looking around on the internet at Verizon’s website and at the Verizon stores here in town looking to see what our options are for new cell phones come April or so. So far, nothing. Mom wants to make sure she can download and play the videos of BFL’s niece that BFL’s sister sends her, and we want QWERTY board phones. The problem? All the phones that fit EITHER description require a data package of at LEAST $9.99 PER PHONE. Mom says we can’t raise the bill any higher than it already is, but almost every single phone Verizon has now fits the requirements of needing a data plan so either she’s going to have to re-think that stipulation, or we’re going to have to get rid of our phone as soon as the contracts are up which should be either this month or next month. UGH. I hate that almost all the phones require that we get a data plan. It stinks.

We thought about switching to another carrier, but it seems like all the others are just as bad. We don’t have T-Mobile here, so that’s out. We have All-tel (Verizon affiliate), AT&T, and Verizon. Guess we’re gonna have to get those data plans, like it or not!

Time to Upgrade? Well, I’m thinking my iPod shuffle has about had it....

Ok….Really?

By the way, just so you know, I hate coming up with titles for my blog posts. It’s really annoying and half the time end up having nothing to do with the post, but I stick them there anyways because really, I just don’t care.

That being said, LOL, I was going through some site stats and noticed something interesting. I have searches for key words like key man insurance (um, what???), computers, printers, sales, etc. I ended up shaking my head at some of the stuff – fortunately I don’t have any key words related s-e-x but I know that’s just a matter of time, and now watch, the next 30 searches that come in will be for that. LOL

Surprisingly none of the searches are for Facebook, game apps for Facebook or MySpace, or anything like that, although really the only time I’ve talked about them on my blog is when I posted a review of PetVille. However, I do tweet about the apps I play and I have a daily digest of tweets that shows up as a blog post….so perhaps I’ll get more searches regarding those things.

Just to clarify for anyone who DOES come here after searching for game apps – I do NOT have tips, tricks, or cheats for any of the games on Facebook. If they’re mentioned, it is because I play them, fair and square like I should be. I do not use programs to cheat, I do not do anything that would constitute cheating. I don’t even take part in hacks like the multiple chicken coop work around for FarmVille.

No Excuse for Bad Service

My friends and I went out for dinner at Pizza Hut tonight. We love pizza and although I usually make our pizza at home now, we chose to go out for pizza tonight so none of us would have to cook. It only took us a few moments to decide what we wanted. That was when the trouble started.

First, the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. A lemonade, Diet Pepsi, and a root beer were ordered. Fine… but it took forever for the drinks to come out. When he finally came back with our drinks, he said he’d gotten busy at the drive-through. Ok, yeah, we could see that. So we gave him our order: 10 bone-out Garlic Parmesan wings, 1 large stuffed-crust Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe w/out Onions, & 10 Hershey’s Chocolate Dunkers. No problem, in fact when we didn’t specify how many of the dunkers we wanted, he asked if we wanted 10 since there were 3 of us. We said yes. He even repeated the order back to use perfectly. No problems…. until….

The wings came out. Now one thing I’ve noticed is that the bone-out wings seem to get smaller every time we go there. But we divided up the wings – should have been 3 on each plate with 1 left over. But after Mom put 3 on her plate, LaShawn put 3 on her plate, I got 2 and the basket was empty. So we told the waiter about it – and he was all “oh, um, well, don’t you have 10??” We pointed out that we hadn’t eaten any as he’d literally just brought them to us and that there were only 8 of them. Then he asked us if we wanted the other 2. Um, we ordered 10, got 8, yes, we wanted the other 2. Well, according to him, they come in bags of 5 and one of the bags apparently only had 3 in it. That’s nice – but the people in the kitchen can’t count the wings to make sure they’re giving out the correct number?? So he brings us another 5 wings. Fine….

Now mind you, right around the time our drinks were finally delivered, 4 people were seated at the table next to us, being served by a different person. They ordered drinks and got them right away – then ordered their pizza and bread sticks. The received their bread sticks just after we got our first basket of wings – and their pizza came just after we got our 2nd basket of wings. Keep this in mind as you read the next part.

When the waiter brought us the 5 wings basket, he asked if we wanted our dunkers then or later. I thought that was odd and said later because, duh, they’re for dessert. Well, we figured that we’d be getting our pizza soon…..WRONG. The people next to us had all of their food before we saw our pizza. Mom finally asked how much longer it would be for our pizza and the waiter said “oh, uh, I don’t know, hang on, I think it might be up now.” He walked off and the pizza that we could SEE ON THE COUNTER sat there for another 5-10 minutes before he brought it over to us. It had already been there at least 10 minutes before we asked about it.

We kept having to flag him down and specifically ask for refills on our drinks. He’d just stare at the empty glasses and say nothing – plus he didn’t take the empty glasses or empty basket from the wings away… then he brings the dunkers. He brought us 5 dunkers and I asked if that was the 10 or the 5. (I figured it could have been the 10 and they were just shorter than breadsticks are.) He said the 5. We all three said at the same time that we ordered the 10 dunkers. He said “no, you ordered the 5, didn’t you?” We said no, so he finally said he’d get us the other 5 dunkers. It took so long for the other 5 dunkers to come out, we told him to put them in a box to take home because we were too ticked off to eat anymore at that point. The only good thing was that he didn’t charge us for the extra 5 dunkers that he forgot to order in the first place.

But we are beyond ticked off. I mean, we went in there between 5:15 and 5:30 and didn’t get out of there until 7:20. That’s 2 hours that we spent in Pizza Hut, not because we were talking, not because we were just enjoying ourselves, but because our food was consistently either missing or wrong. We’ve decided it’ll be a good long time before we grace that location with our presence again, and there’s another location that we are avoiding as well. There’s only one more Pizza Hut with a dining room here in town and if they screw up like the other 2 did, we’ll just forego Pizza Hut altogether from now on!

We’re In A Recovery?

I keep hearing on the news how the economy is “in a recovery” now from the recession. Well, that’s just great. Except I don’t see it. If we were in a recovery, one would think that would mean that jobs would be starting to show up again. But they aren’t. In fact, come April, here where I live, a factory is closing down, throwing another 1500 people at least into the finding employment game. So if someone would be so kind as to point me in the direction of this recovery, I would be ever so grateful.

Did some shopping yesterday because I got paid and I needed stuff. Got the required milk, hamburger, mushroom soup, and gas in the car. Then had fun shopping for yarn (couldn’t get what I needed of course), jewelry stuff (BEADS!!!! FINDINGS!!!! YAY!!!), and had dinner at a Mongolian BBQ/Chinese Buffet. The food was good, but my hiatal hernia was acting up, so I ended up….shall we say….losing it?? It sucked because you know, spending $10 per person (just me and BFL) for dinner and then not being able to keep it isn’t exactly the greatest thing in the world. So I ended up with some McDonald’s later on.
I also picked up dog treats (Panda’s precious Wag’n Wraps) and sodas for us to drink over the weekend.

I was supposed to go to a birthday party tonight, but I wasn’t feeling well at all, so I ended up staying home. I haven’t felt well since the Chinese place last night – but we don’t think it’s food poisoning since BFL and I ate the same things and she’s fine. Just my stomach being a jerk again.

Anyways, I’m off to do a few things, play a couple of games, and then go to bed.

Ok, I logged into one of my Yahoo! IDs (Yes, I have more than one, don’t ask me why, I don’t know) and I had received several offline messages. All of them were what Yahoo! calls “SPIM” or SPAM for IM. So I carefully blocked each sender and reported them for sending the “SPIM” messages. The only thing Yahoo! did was simply send me an email back telling me how to block them from my Yahoo! Messenger.

Exactly what good does it do me to report these people for sending “SPIM” messages if all Yahoo! is going to do is send me an email telling me how to block the person. The email I got actually said that the best thing to do was simply close the conversation window (or delete the email if an email) and forget about it. What. The. Fuck? Excuse me? I reported this person for violating the TOS for Yahoo! Messenger AND Yahoo! Mail so that you could tell me to close the IM/Email and forget about it?

This is almost as bad as the time I was trying to sign up for Yahoo! Music’s Launchcast Plus radio. That time I got several emails from several people asking me for information I had already included in the original inquiry into the issue. Then they sent it engineering saying it was an engineering issue. Yahoo! never did get back to me about that one! However, I DID find out from a friend of mine that my IP address was coming up as me being in Mexico, not the US. So that ended up explaining that issue – because the Launchcast Plus was only available to listeners in the US. The thing I couldn’t figure out, and neither could my ISP, was why my IP address came up as from Mexico.

In any case, I am seriously believing it when people call Yahoo! “YaHELL!” instead!

Attention Pogo Users

I just found this when I was trying to find out what was going on with one of my Pogo To Go games. I couldn’t add my tokens to my account and was given a strange message stating I had earned too many tokens. I used to play games all day on Pogo and never had that happen before so I checked their Official Rules page and found this:

In order to discourage and deter misconduct in connection with Game play and drawings on Pogo, Pogo places limits on the total number of tokens players can earn in a given time period. These limits apply both online and in Pogo To Go Games.

The rules page is filled with quite a bit of information and this is hidden near the bottom of the document. However, I find it odd that they do not state what the actual limit on the token earnings is. As I said before – I don’t recall ever having played a game and NOT gotten my tokens for it before. I am wondering when this went into effect as I only recently started playing Pogo again.

Any other Pogo gamers out there? If so, did you know about this???

Oh What A Tangled Web

Of wires. *sigh* You see, we have a lot of stuff that hooks up to other stuff. A router with eternet cables coming off it. A GameCube with wires going from it to the TV. A PlayStation with wires going from it to the TV. Various electrical cords as well running here and there. And in the middle of it is me – the woman who can tangle any wire within seconds of touching it. It has gotten to the point that a friend of mine’s husband suggested we get a split loom to put the wires in so that I can’t tangle them up anymore.

To be perfectly honest, I think I’d still manage to tangle them, but that’s entirely beside the point. I’m just that way. LOL

I Thought It Was Winter??

Ok, I know that if I look outside, there is snow on the ground. And I know that it’s 31° outside right now. And there’s ice covering EVERYTHING because we’re having a small ice storm right now. But inside you wouldn’t know it. Both BFL’s and my allergies are kicking up big time and we have no idea of why. I would have thought we were getting colds, but we don’t feel crappy, we just can’t seem to keep our noses from either running or being plugged up. Ugh!

You know, it’s pretty bad when you’re looking for allergy relief in the middle of winter! Of course, I know that indoor allergies such as dust & pet dander don’t really have seasons, so I suppose it could be that. But still. I’m kind of sick of the whole thing.

Just found out that a local packing plant is closing down. At least 1500 jobs are going to be lost, and that doesn’t count for the truck drivers and management – just the factory workers. You know, the economy will not get better if things like this continue to happen. It’s bad enough that we had a huge unemployment rate here – now come April another 1500-2000 people will be out there with the rest of us looking for jobs. Here’s to hoping I can find a job before then!
