17th February, 2014 - Deadfolk Film

Royston Blake is finally entering the world of cinema. Films rights to Deadfolk have been optioned to Eclipse Films. I have already written the screenplay and Stuart St Paul is slated to direct. Producers Neil Chordia and Andrew Berg are currently casting. Laura Aikman is down to play the pivotal role of Mandy, but the main man himself is still a big, violent, beer-stinking question mark. What can we say other than "yay"? I'll keep you posted on developments. And hopefully you can keep track here.

15th August, 2013 - Charlie in the USA

Will you be in America on the 24th August? It's a small country, right? So you can hike it up to the Pacific Northwest for the Thomas & Mercer "On the Lam" conference! Or maybe you could cruise up there in your Lincoln Continental. What you will find there is a day of panels by some of the leading lights in the crime genre. If you see me there, I'll sign your book. Even if I didn't write it.

MADE OF STONE was unleashed unto the planet this week. It is the fifth entry in the Mangel series featuring Royston Blake. Here's an interview where I talk about it. Also here is Blakey talking a bit about it, although with slightly less focus. I hope you enjoy this book. Get it here (UK) and here (US). 10th September, 2012 - Made of Stone

Next book up is MADE OF STONE - the fifth in the Mangel series. This will be out from Thomas & Mercer in March 2013. All I can say right now is that this one features a golem, amongst many other things. You can pre-order it here (UK) and here (US). Blakey is back.

To celebrate, I have made my tripped-out noir novella GRAVEN IMAGE available for Kindle at the laughable price of 85p in the UK. Go on, laugh! It is also available in the US for an equally ridiculous price, so those guys can have a laugh too. Please give it a shot. It is not linked to Halloween, but there is a kind of horror element to it. And of course, the book is still available from Five Leaves Press as a beautiful paperback.

Or Royston Blake has. It has no title as yet but it involves a Ford Granada MkIII hearse, Count Dracula and Jock the burger man. Unlike most other stories, you get to read this one before I've actually finished it. You don't know where it's going and nor do I, which should be interesting. I've always advocated writing on the fly without an outline, so here is my chance to prove that it works. Please follow it and tell your friends if you think they might appreciate an intro to Royston Blake.

There are some very nice events upcoming. First is The Killer Inside You, a panel at Waterstones One in Liverpool alongside John Connolly and Steve Mosby, where we will be talking about the intersection between crime and horror. Then it's off to New York City for BookExpo America, where I will be at the AmazonEncore booth. In June we have an event at the local library as part of the Worcester Lit Fest. If you can make any of these, please do. I will buy you an ice cream. Details here (of the events, not the ice cream).

10th March, 2011 - Return of the Blake

Thanks to a successful campaign waged on Facebook, Royston Blake is back!
