Style #2 With Choca's Twisted Faux Hawk...

Hey all...

So, here is the next style that I came up with for Choca's Twisted Faux Hawk.

I call it: SWEET SWADDLE TWISTED HAWK..

Okay... CC helped me come up with the name... The 'swaddle' has to do with the way the hair is rolled under... it's done the way you would swaddle your baby into a blanket when they are a newborn... (all the Mommies and SOME of the Daddies will understand... LOL!!)

What I did was I used the part that her hair NORMALLY has in this style to use as the parted area. I took one side, rolled it lightly underneath itself and bobby pinned it into place. I took the other side and did the EXACT same thing. You can do it as tight or as loose as you'd like (especially if your child's hair is longer or shorter than Choca's).

The results??

So cute, right??? I added the little flower for a tad bit of flair... OR, you can do it without any hair jewelry:

Still just as cute!! It's quite easy and takes all of MAYBE 2 minutes to do...

And, when covering it up at night, all I do is spray it down with a little water and oil, and put a bandana on it...

Easy Peasy!! :)

New Style for Choca!! WOW, Right?!?!?!

Hey all...

So, Choca and I decided that a new style was in order for the KandyLandKurls 2013 Protective Style Challenge that she is a part of... So... We decided we'd do a Faux Hawk for the next 2-4 weeks (depending upon how easy it is to keep up)

Products Used:

Water

Blue Magic Organics Indian Hemp Hair Conditioner

Mane 'n Tail Detangler

Karite Special Masque Reparateur

Obi Naturals Curl Enhancing Custard

I took out all of her previous twists, in order to give her a NICE Deep Conditioning treatment with the Karite Special Masque Reparateur. This product was left on her hair for about 2 hours.

I then separated her hair into sections, cornrowed them (except for the top... I bunned it up) and let her hair dry overnight...

Alright... Now, down to the nitty gritty!! I used the REST of the products listed above to create the style I'm about to unveil. Are you ready!??! :)

You sure??

She'd been FAUX HAWKED!! I braided a really cute criss-cross pattern on the sides, and twisted the top into two-strand twists to keep with her 'norm'... but change it up just enough to get a BANG out of it!! :)

With this style, I will be blogging about the different styles I've come up with before I take this Faux Hawk down and go back to her go-to style.

Here is the first one:

I call it: The SWOOPER DUPER TWISTED HAWK!! :)

To achieve this style, I simply separated the twisted hawk area into three sections. I rolled the top two sections under towards the back and used a bobby pin to secure it... The bottom portion I rolled up and bobby pinned it into place..

Easy Peasy, Folks!!

A Twisted Updo, The Norm, And A Vintage Outfit...

Hey all..

So, as most of you know, Choca is in a Protective Style Challenge. Obviously, her twists are a protective style, and she wears them well... :)

Pretty Pretty Girl!!!

Products Used:

Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Strengthening Conditioner

Water

(I mixed all of these products together to make my leave in conditioner this week)

Bobby Pins

So, for this week's submission, we tried an updo. I cornrowed four braids on the right side of her head... I also gave her a wrap bang... and kept everything together with bobby pins.

We then removed the bobby pins (because Miss Choca wanted her hair down again... LOL)

Then, she wanted you all to see her vintage outfit...

How cute is she?!?!? Hehe...

Washing Twists With Choca...

Hey all!!

So, today I decided that I wanted to wash Choca's twists... I USUALLY do a co-wash on her hair... But, today I wanted to try out the OBI NATURAL HAIRCARE products on her hair. I recently did a review on these products using BB as the hair model (click here to see the review), and I wanted to try these products on Choca to see how her hair reacts with these products in it...

The Products I Used:

* Coconut & Shea Shampoo Bar

*Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Strengthening Conditioner

* Curl Moisture Cream - 4oz.

* Curl Enhancing Custard - 12oz

* Curl Hydration Spray - 8oz

Soooooooooooo...

First, I wet her hair down and vigorously rubbed her hair/scalp with the Coconut & Shea Shampoo Bar... Making sure to get to every twist soapy!

I then gave her a conditioning treatment with Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Strengthening Conditioner... Making sure to saturate her hair with the conditioner and letting it sit in her hair for 20 minutes...

I then rinsed it...

Yeah... She wasn't happy about this wash day!!

I let her hair air dry so she could feel the breeze in her scalp, and her hair could be WITHOUT product for a couple of hours. How BEAUTIFUL is her hair?!??! My goodness!!

After 2 1/2 hours, I then put some Curly Hydration Spray in her hair to get her curls popping... Then I put the Curl Enhancing Custard to bring those beautiful curls out even more!! I put a small amount of the Curl Moisture Cream and some more Curly Hydration Spray to finish it off... And VOILA:

How gorgeous is her hair?!?! It's so pretty and bouncy!! This product is VERY light, so it does not weigh the hair down...

I made her the cutest hat (Me and a friend of mine who makes the most DELICIOUS earrings will be collaborating on a giveaway in February with one of my beautiful handmade hats and her earrings for Valentine's Day), and she wanted to rock it today...

Too cute, RIGHT??

History is full of important, memorable figures, but for those individuals who have helped influence equality, it’s especially important to honor their achievements. Most children learn a bit about Dr. King in schools today, but it’s vital to continue that conversation outside of the classroom and in the world, where equality issues are still pressing. MY REVIEW:

My daughter BB was ecstatic to try these products on her hair. Her hair tends to dry out easily, and she's been looking for a product that would keep her beautiful curls hydrated and bouncy.

First, she used the Coconut & Shea Shampoo Bar.

This bar smells heavenly. The mixture of Coconut and Shea is delightful and leaves the hair smelling great!!

She washed her hair with the bar, making sure to really get into those curls and cleanse her scalp...

Vigorously cleansing that hair! :)

Step one: Completed

Her curls are already poppin'!

Once completed with this step, She used the Curl Enhancing Custard:

The consistency of this is not tacky, but very creamy. The mixture of argon, grape seed and olive oils is a pleasure to the senses!! It awakens you!!

She then applied the Curl Moisture Cream:

This creams smells heavenly as well. I'm a HUGE lavender fan, and the smell of lavender truly engulfed me with this product. It's not heavy, but it's just enough to make you want to run through a field of it, smiling and happy! :) --

Finally, she used the Curl Hydration Spray:

This spray is light, not oily, and the vitamin E in this lovely mist brings about a beautiful shine.

The final product:

Do you all see that shine?? My goodness!! She was able to run her fingers through her hair w/out an issue as well. Not gunky... Not heavy... Very light and amazing.

Yes.. She's happy! :) AND check that shine!!! :)

Choca's Re-Twisted...

Hey all!!

So tonight, I retwisted Choca's hair... She's going to be in the Christmas program at our church, so I wanted to make sure her hair was on point and FRESH!!! Although it looked good already, there is something about being 'FRONT AND CENTER' that made me re-do those delicious things...

Products Used:

-- Mane 'n Tail Detanger

-- Blue Magic Organics Indian Hemp Herbal Hair & Scalp Conditioner

-- Water

-- Red, Black, Green Beads

-- ONE Rubber Band (to secure the beads)

With my fingers, I untwisted the twists (section by section) that were already there... I sprayed water and detangler on them FIRST before undoing them. I rubbed that through each section, and THEN took them out. After they were free, I put the Blue Magic on her hair, and twisted it again... I then put ONE box braid on the right side of her head and beaded it (her signature) -- Easy Peasy!!

This took about TWO HOURS from beginning to end to complete!! She's good for another 6-8 weeks too!!!

She loves it... (although she was NOT trying to get her hair done tonight)... And I adore it!! :)

First, I want to say... WOW!!!! The Leading Lady Organic Nursing Cami is amazing. My goodness... Because I'm more 'girthy'... I was concerned that it wouldn't fit properly... However, these camis are true to size. It fit amazingly, and was very easy to TRANSFORM for me to breastfeed my little one. It's also VERY cute, and could be worn under a dress, jacket, etc... for easy accessibility.

A soft cotton liner worn in your bra, Pambra’s absorbs perspiration under and between the breasts. Pambra’s also adds comfort to that cute little under wire bra that isn’t always so comfortable.

So, toss out the powders, rags and mini pads so many have resorted to. It is our unique blend of fabric and cotton that absorbs moisture and keeps it away from the skin. Doctor tested and approved, Pambra’s virtually eliminates the threat of fungus, and prevents heat rash from developing.

Pambra’s have no pins, hooks, or tapes; the liners have been proven to stay in place with a properly fitted bra. (A properly fitted bra has no more than two fingers space to pull away from the body.)

MY REVIEW:

Let me first just say WOW!! This bra liner works WONDERS, folks!! For all you Mommies out there that are top heavy AND that breastfeed, this product is an amazing way to stay dry underneath your breasts. It makes you feel much more comfortable as well!!!

When I wore mine, I was amazed at how it felt. I was expecting to feel as if I had too much fabric involved in that area... but it was completely the opposite. It was VERY comfortable and fit perfectly! I wore it for 16 hours... in 100 degree heat... with NO issues!!! :)

I highly recommend this product to ALL women who may have the same issues I have being top heavy.

On a scale of 1 to 5 Choca's (with 5 being the best), I give this product:

I have absolutely NO qualms with this product. It does as it states it will do. It's a perfect product!! Truly!

MY REVIEW:

When I opened the containers, I was enthralled by the lovely fragrance of each product. The smell is NOT overwhelming, but it's VERY delicious. When I was using it on Choca, it smelled like a bakery in here!! BB and CC kept coming out here talking about how AMAZING the products smelled... Even Choca was putting her fingers in the containers so she could use it as lotion (WHICH IS QUITE ALRIGHT)!!

The texture of these products is a thick consistency... However, it's not so thick that it didn't melt into Choca's hair. Once I rub it into her hair, or into my hands before putting it on her hair, it softened her hair right up and melted right into it after about 3 minutes... Which is GREAT for our texture hair.

This product brought out Choca's amazing hair texture. Her hair is VERY curly, and this product was able to focus on HER texture and bring out her curls like NONE OTHER!! Choca's hair texture has been changing lately... So, it was nice to see her curls POPPIN' with these lovely products.

So... She's had the product in her hair for 3 days... This morning when she woke up, I sprayed her hair down with water and put some of the above products in her hair...

On a scale of 1 to 5 Choca's... with 5 being the best, I give this product:

FIVE CHOCA'S

Pros: This product is ALL natural and works amazing on Choca's hair. It isn't too fragrant, but it does smell amazing. A little goes a LONG way!

Cons: There are no cons!

Friday Flair With Choca!!!

Hey all!!!

So today, Choca decided she wanted to rock one of the new crocheted hats that my husband had made for her (Shout out to Brittany @ Britt's Knits for her amazing crocheting skills). I paired her black, yellow and white hat with ALL VINTAGE ITEMS: a cute white tank, jean capri pants and a simple jean jacket. She wanted to finish it off with her pink sandals (that's her FAVORITE COLOR), so I obliged that request!!!

Refreshing Choca's Twists!!! :)

Hey all,

So... Choca has been rocking this style for about 1 1/2 weeks now...

BLOG POST TO THIS STYLE:

As of a couple of days ago, it was looking like this:

Now, although it was still really cute, it was FRIZZY!! My goodness... This weather (hot, cold, rainy, burning hot) has her hair going through a metamorphosis. It's growing really well.. But, it does tend to dry out a bit more when the weather is all over the place.

Sooooooooooooooooooo... I decided to redo her hair style... I updated the braids a bit, and used a different mixture of products to give her that protective covering her hair needs in this weather...

What did I use, you ask?!?!

PRODUCTS USED:

LITTLE MISS FUZZY HEAD

AFRICAN PRIDE MAGICAL GRO

TEA TREE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER

Let me tell you... This mixture really made her hair extra soft and curly!!! It was very easy to finger detangle and moisturized her hair amazingly!

The finished product:

I changed up the braid design a bit.

Can you see the shine?!?!? AND... The Little Miss Fuzzy Head has a nice, thick consistency that keeps Choca's hair coated and protected from the elements!!! We shall see how it looks in a week!! :)

As you can see, she's overjoyed with it...
